"Tell me again about this student of yours," Dr. Stimple, a galactic cartographer said.
"What do you want me to tell you?" Dr. Mabi asked.
"Where is he, when will we meet him? You've only talked about him for the last ten years. I'm starting to believe you've made the little fellow up," Dr. Stimple said. His comment elicited chuckles from others and a few head nods.
"Is he on the s.h.i.+p?" Dr. Stimple asked.
"Yes, he's on the s.h.i.+p," Dr. Mabi said.
"Well, call him over so we can meet him," Dr. Stimple said.
"I'm afraid you won't be able to meet him this time," Dr. Mabi said.
"Why not?" Dr. Stimple and the others were confused.
"He's...o...b..ard but he's with the other cadets; he's joined the Military Academy," Dr. Mabi said.
"The Military Academy?! Why would he do something foolish like that?" Dr. Gromide, a Neural Molecularist asked shocked.
Dr. Mabi just dropped his head and shoulders letting out air as he shook his head from side to side.
"He wants adventure and to become a fighter pilot," he said.
"A fighter pilot?" Dr. Gromide said shocked.
"He says he wants to become a fighter pilot so he can fly his s.h.i.+p when doing field research in the future. I'm pretty sure he's just saying that though, I think he just wants to blow stuff up!" Dr. Mabi said incensed.
"That's an unusual att.i.tude for a pure Elf isn't it?" asked Professor Biah Molenard, a Temporal Transversist expert from the Fairy-Elf Kingdom of Felwer. She was a typical beauty owing to her heritage as a Fairy-Elf. Among the group of old me, she was like a flower in a desert.
"You can never judge Cyber Elves, their psychological profiles are erratic," Dr. Krieg, a Political Scientist from Marsi said.
"Who died and made you an expert of Elf psychology?" Dr. Mabi the expert of all things Elf said.
"I'm merely pointing out a widely known fact," Dr. Krieg said.
Before Dr. Mabi could respond, Dr. Stimple spoke.
"Regardless of Elf psychology, I'm sure the Captain will allow an exception if we ask.
"I'm sure he would, but Boval asked me to let him fit in with his fellow cadets, he doesn't want to receive special treatment. He wants to be low profile, as he puts it," Dr. Mabi responded.
"He may want to be low profile, but a genius like him already has the attention of command and he will be treated differently from the others whether he wants it or not. I doubt they will allow him to roam around blowing stuff up if danger is involved," Professor Molenard said.
"He's only theoretically a genius," Professor Burton Rusz, an Engineering specialist said.
"I hear you're taken with the new Materials Scanner and Adjustment Array (MSAA) the University recently purchased for your department," Dr. Mabi said.
Professor Rusz's eyes immediately lit up at the mention os his MSAA.
"It's a dream to work with this device for any engineer or person who works with any kind of material," Professor Rusz said.
"Do you think the person who invented that device would count as a genius?" Dr. Mabi asked.
"A genius of geniuses!" Professor Rusz responded enthusiastically.
"I'm glad you said this, Boval is the inventor of that device you love so much, so I misspoke earlier. He isn't a genius, he's a genius of geniuses!" Dr. Mabi said. The entire crowd was shocked when Dr. Mabi dropped this bomb on them. He knew Boval didn't want others to know about his involvement in the creation of the MSAA, but he was worried about Boval's well-being in the Academy.
He heard many stories about how compet.i.tive life in the military academy could be. He even knew the pettiness of officers and fellow students could at times lead to death. The Academy never openly allowed for such deaths and would always hunt down the perpetrators if possible, however, there was an unspoken belief that such compet.i.tiveness was good. It was good to separate the weak from the strong. The Academy only cared about producing the strongest elites.
"Your student invented the MSAA? We must meet the boy, stop making excuses!" Professor Rusz said with excitement.
"There's nothing I can do, but the head of the Academy Cadet Medical Program Dr. Hanry is here. Perhaps Dr. Hanry can help us out," Dr. Mabi said.
In a dark corner of room Dr. Marvlus Hanry, the Academy's head of the medical program sat quietly. He was a Dragon Child. The Dragon Children were a race created through the mystical arts of Dragons. In this universe, dragons existed but they were so large and hated being in public there were many things they were unable to do. Dragons were known to be greedy and h.o.a.rded treasures. Those treasures could be materials or even people.
Unable to take human form, they created a race called the Dragon Children. Dragon Children were originally a reptilian race with low intelligence. The Dragons imparted some of their knowledge and powers into the Dragon Children. Their strength, toughness of their skin, we're stronger than most bipedal beings. They also had wings. Their intelligence, wisdom, and mental power were no lower than humans and elves. They had life spans up to three thousand years old, and could be found throughout the universe.
The only drawback for the Dragon Children is they are born and die as slaves to the Dragons. Their loyalty to the Dragon race is absolute. Their number one function was to hunt for treasures for their masters. After hearing about Boval's capabilities, Dr. Hanry's eyes glowed and twinkled. He found a treasure!
"I don't mind letting the boy come here to meet with everyone," Dr. Hanry smiled.
Just as he was about to continue a fourth-year Cadet interrupted the event. He was a human whose hair was completely disheveled, clothes in a mess, grease and blood on his face, and completely out of breath.
"Dr. Mabi!" the young man finally said.
"Yes, young man what's wrong?" Dr. Mabi knew this cadet wouldn't normally look or behave like this. It must mean something has gone wrong.

"Sir, the Captain requests you to come to the brig right away!" he said.
"Go to the brig, why?" Dr. Mabi asked confused.
"It's your disciple, Boval, he's in a lot of trouble!" the young man gasped out.
"Trouble? What's happened to Boval?" Dr. Mabi said.
"He's in the Brig sir and the Captain needs you to talk with your disciple. He's been charged with the highest crimes, sir," the young man said.
"Crimes, what crimes?" Dr. Boval said in shock. How could his good little disciple ever commit a crime? He knew Boval's character, he was one of the most honest and law-abiding people he ever met.
"The charge is mutiny sir!" the cadet said.
"Mutiny!" everyone in the cabin was shocked by the charged and looking at Dr. Mabi who was even more shocked.
