Tsubaki frowned, dissatisfied with Ren's laughter while she seriously repeated the question.

"You'll know later." Ren still dodged the question. Kissing her hair from the back, he continued, "Go change your clothes. The maid has prepared your nightgown in the wardrobe."
"Okay."
Tsubaki reluctantly agreed. She wanted to know the answer but decided to just drop it for the time being. She walked inside a walk-in wardrobe. Amazed by the clothes hung in there, she gaped her mouth open.
It was like a dream closet she often saw in magazines. It was even bigger than her rooftop apartment. From the tailor-made suits to home clothes, they were from high-end brands.
Snapping out of it, Tsubaki looked for the nightgown. A white knee-length nightgown was hung beside the huge mirror. It was made of cotton and the design was modest, like her usual ones. The quarter length sleeves had pink ribbons on it. After brus.h.i.+ng her hair, she went outside. Ren had already took off his coat.
"You can go to sleep first."
Ren smiled before walking inside the wardrobe. Tsubaki nodded. Before she could cover herself with the comforter, a knock resounded on the door. She quickly opened it and saw Grandma Fuse before her.
"Grandma, do you need something?" Tsubaki returned the smile on the old lady's face.
"Could you spare a moment with me?"
Tsubaki nodded. Grandma Fuse brought her to a drawing room nearby. Both of them sat next to each other. Holding Tsubaki's hands, the old lady looked sorrowful.
"Grandma, what's wrong? Did something upset you?" Tsubaki was afraid if something had happened to the old lady.
"Nothing, dear. It's just... I'm happy and grateful because you took good care of Ren five years ago."
A glint of surprise betrayed Tsubaki's calm face. She had an idea of what Grandma Fuse wanted to say. Gently, she asked, "Ren told grandma about us?"
Old Madam Fuse nodded. "He told me the other day, when he wanted to talk about your marriage. I never expected that such tragedy befall both of you. And you even lost your memories."
"Yes." Tsubaki thought it was better if she was being truthful. "To tell you the truth, I haven't remember Ren clearly but... I couldn't deny that he somehow looked familiar to me. And I feel safe whenever I'm with him."
Grandma Fuse couldn't contain her smile. She saw the sincerity in the young lady's eyes. Her brown eyes looked clear. She knew her grandson was in good hands.
"Little Tsubaki..." Grandma Fuse rubbed Tsubaki's hands. "Little Ren is my dear grandson. I only hope for his happiness. He lost both of his parents when he was a child and while he was still close to me, he detached himself from the world."
A tiny face crossed the old lady's mind. While the child looked soft from his outer appearance, one couldn't deny the coldness in his eyes.
"He was a bright student but he didn't show any interest in leading the company. Because I didn't want to let the company fall into incapable person's hands, I forced him to take over the company." The old lady paused for a while, the memory brought pain to her. She continued after regaining her composure.
"That was the first time I forced him over something. A week before the inauguration, he ran away from home. It took us almost a year before he could be found. The other elders forced him to come back. I didn't want him to be burdened but I was shocked when he finally agreed to take over the company. Since then, he worked non-stop. I could only blame myself when I saw he becoming colder to people."
"Grandma, please don't say that." Tsubaki hugged the frail body of the old lady. "You just wanted the best for him. I'm sure Ren didn't blame you."
Old Madam Fuse returned the hug. "Please take good care of him, Tsubaki. He loves you deeply. I hope whatever comes, you both would trust and be truthful to each other."
"I will, grandma." Tsubaki nodded. "I will."
After calming grandma down, Tsubaki sent her to her bedroom. She bid the old lady good night after helping her to bed. When she returned to Ren's bedroom, he was on the phone talking about business. He smiled seeing her.
"Grandma called for you?" Ren silenced his phone and went to bed. He sat on the edge of the bed.
"You knew?"
"I heard her." Reaching out his long hands, he pulled her to stay between his legs. Looking up, he smiled. His arms were around her waist. "Could you sleep with me in the same bed?"
Red colour bloomed on her cheeks but Tsubaki didn't waver her gaze. She nodded timidly. Ren laughed seeing her flushed face. He pulled her to lay beside him.
"You won't bully me tonight because I could finally sleep next to my wife." Ren said, eyes twinkling with delight.
Tsubaki was speechless. She couldn't refute him. Ren laughed again before covering both of them with the cosy comforter. Landing a kiss on her eyes, Ren tightened his arms around her body.
"Good night, love."
