"Mr. Fuse, what are you..."
"We registered our marriage two days before the unfortunate incidents." Ren didn't give Tsubaki a chance to refute. He opened his wallet and took out a Polaroid photo. He put it down in front of her. "This is our wedding photo."
Tsubaki looked down and saw two familiar faces that she recognised. Mr. Fuse and... her. He looked so das.h.i.+ng in even though he just wore a plain black suit while she donned a simple white gown. A flower wreath crowned on her head. He was holding her waist in an intimate way while both of her hands was holding a bouquet of flowers. They smiled in pure happiness.
"This is..." Tsubaki was loss of words. This was a genuine photo.
"You had already knew my real ident.i.ty before we got married." Ren continued. "And Satsuki was the only one who knew about our marriage. Your uncle didn't know."
Ren slowly stood up and walked around the table to sit beside Tsubaki. She turned her body slightly to face him. He reached out a hand to gently touch her face. When she didn't flinch with the sudden contact, he smiled.
"I'm a failure of a husband. Not only I let them took me away from you, I even needed five years to finally meet you again."
Tsubaki felt like she was in a trance. His deep eyes drowned her into an ocean yet it didn't suffocate her. She didn't even want to move away from him.
"At first, I wanted to take things slowly as I didn't want to burden you." Ren sighed. He let his hand down, now holding her tiny hands. "But, I'm afraid I couldn't protect you once danger harms you again."
"What do you mean?" Tsubaki snapped out of her daze. Her senses heightened once she heard what he had said.
Am I in danger?
Ren nodded. It would be better if he didn't hid it from her. "I've investigated your accident. Even though it's still unclear why you forget about me, forget about the entire year but I know there was a third party involved in it."
A third party involved in the accident? Who?
"Someone had the police covered the accident. I guessed the one behind it was a powerful man. I'm still trying to figure out his ident.i.ty. That's why I'm in a rush. As I do not want to lose another five years with you."
"Mr. Fuse, I..." Tsubaki shook her head. It was too much for her to digest all the information in a go. "So, you're saying that we've already married."
Ren chuckled. "Do you want to see our marriage certificate?"
Tsubaki nodded immediately. This was a very important matter! He had shown her their supposedly wedding photo but she still needed to see their marriage certification with her own eyes.
"It's in my house. I could show you today but are you still able to bear with all this?"
"Yes." She answered in a determined tone. She had already started it. There was no way she would step back now.
Ren couldn't contain his smile hearing her firm answer. Tsubaki froze for a moment. She had seen his gentle expression before but right now, it was as if the man had completely shredded the cold mask he had donned when facing people. There was pure joy in his eyes.
Once Ren paid the bill, they immediately left the restaurant. His Audi Q7 went straight to the newest condominium complex owned by Fuse Corporation. The security of the luxurious residential area named Spring Garden was so tight. Many top celebrities and influential figures chose to reside here.
Two bulky security guards in black suits gave access to enter once the SUV got nearer to the gate. Both of them had already knew it was their Big Boss' car. Their eyes flickered behind the sungla.s.ses once they saw there was a beauty beside their renowned aloof boss. But as professionals, they just greeted him as usual.
Ren parked his car in his designated s.p.a.ce. He led Tsubaki to his elevator. Every residence has their own private elevators to ensure the utmost privacy. Anything for them as long as they were willing to pay. Each complex only had sixteen floors with the first ten floors occupied two units. The rest of them only had one unit in each floor. Ren pressed the b.u.t.ton. It only took them seconds to arrive to the topmost floor.
Once they reached a black door, Ren inserted his pa.s.scode and scanned his fingerprint. Tsubaki was bewildered with the technology used in this building. Ren suppressed his chuckle seeing her expression.
"Welcome to my house."
Tsubaki stared at the living room in front of her. The white marble looked exquisite against the light. The gla.s.s wall was overlooking the beautiful scenery outside. The sun had slowly set over the horizon, emitting its rays. The living room was vast but only one set of a black couch and a television could be seen there. There was no other furniture or decoration.
It looked dull and gloomy despite its luxurious vibe.
"Did you just move in here?" Tsubaki turned her head, looking at Ren.
"No. I've been living here since five months ago." Ren took a pair of home slippers and placed it in front of her. He already kicked off his shoes.
Five months? Tsubaki frowned. It's been a long time already so why did this place felt lifeless?
