The hall burst into loud applause, and camera flashes instantly blinded the scene.
"I am sure you know the reason why we all gathered here today. Before starting the presentation, I would like to ask some questions to our distinguished guests," the host asked the a.s.sistant to give the microphones to the men and prepared for a mini-interview.
"Mr. Lee, the first question is for you. Tell me, please, how does it feel to be the hero of the whole world?"
President Lee thanked the host for the question, which, for the sake of truth, he has heard many times already. Therefore, he decided not to complicate his answer and simply repeated what he had been saying during the last month.
"As I have already said, I do not consider myself worthy of being called a hero. Especially the hero of the whole world. This merit primarily belongs to the scientists who work hard in the laboratories of Lee Pharmaceuticals every day. It is hard and responsible work, on which the health and lives of millions of people depend. Therefore, I am doing all I can to ensure that this work is safe and effective. Thank you for your trust in Lee Pharmaceuticals and in me. We will continue to work for the benefit of all people in the world," President Lee finished his answer and bowed.
Stormy applause filled the hall in response to his speech. The host, pleased with the reaction of the audience, continued, "Yes, Mr. Lee, as always, is wise and delicate. Thank you for your work. And now, let me turn to our second guest, Mr. David Anderson."
As soon as the host called the name of David, the young girls and even older women in the room made delighted screams.
"Oh, judging by the reaction of the audience, there are many of your fans here, Mr. Anderson."
"You can just call me David. I thank you for the warm welcome," he added in a low voice, which made the female audience even more delighted.
'So you decided to show off, huh? You, hot shot!' Elena snorted, looking at this attractive man who was on stage. Today he was especially good. d.a.m.n good.
"David, as everyone knows, the LDM virus was deciphered by two scientists, and one of them works in your laboratory. The name of the researcher from Lee Pharmaceuticals is known to the public, but Greenline Inc. never revealed its scientist. What is the reason for such a mystery? Does he not want to reveal his ident.i.ty? There are even rumors that you are this secret scientist yourself."
"Haha, Mr. Host, you overestimate my modest abilities," David laughed in response. "As for the name of our scientist, soon you will know everything. I think as soon as he becomes known to the public, the army of my fans will noticeably diminish," he added, smiling slyly.
"Oooh, now you really intrigued us. Well, we will look forward to it. Then let's move on to another issue which excites our public much as well. Especially the females. David, many ladies are interested in your personal life. Tell me please, are you free at the moment? Can girls try their luck and win the sympathy of one of the most desirable men of the planet?" the host asked, and the audience in the hall enthusiastically supported him.
"One of the most desirable men on the planet, you're saying? I don't think my charm is so powerful," David replied, and the girls in the hall immediately began to hum, disagreeing with him.
"OK, OK. You know better," he rea.s.sured the public, "In any case, I would prefer to keep the details of my personal life private. But I can say one thing; my heart is already taken by the image of a beautiful lady. And I hope that this feeling is mutual," David finished his speech.
"Hohoho, *my heart is already taken by the image of a beautiful lady*," said Corey, imitating David's voice, pushed her friend in the side with her elbow and giggled.
Feeling embarra.s.sed, Elena turned away, but the realization that this attractive man was speaking about her from the stage made the girl incredibly happy.
Meanwhile, on the stage, Minister Barton presented the honorary guests with awards and thanked them for their work for the benefit of all humankind.
David walked off the stage, handed the gifts to the secretary and looked around the room. Having found the desired silhouette in a large crowd, he smiled and headed to the necessary direction. Their eyes met, and Elena smiled back.
The girl silently watched as the man proudly walked across the room in her direction. Like a king who conquered the whole world, he was now returning to his queen. With his every step, Elena's heart began to knock faster and faster. She had not seen him for a month.
And only now, when his penetrating gaze was getting closer and closer, only now she realized how much she had missed him all this time.
