The huge pattern, with a radius of about one and a half meters, was clearly engraved in a wide stone slab, the surface of which over time was covered by a thick layer of the ground. Rick looked at the drawing with interest, its flowing lines and mysterious interlacing seemed familiar to the man.

But he, like the others, was surprised that the pattern on the ground coincided with the pattern on the boy's pendant.

"What is this thing on his neck?" he asked David.

"This is Elena's pendant; she got it from her mother. This is a family relic that was inherited in her family," David explained and leaned toward Sean, "Hey champion, do you happen to know what these symbols mean?" The man pointed to a group of drawings located in the center of the main circle.

They were the same as inside the pyramid. David hoped that Sean could decipher what they meant. After all, if knowledge of this extinct language was in their blood, then Elena's son should also have understood it, right?

The boy looked at his father in dismay, then at the drawing on the ground and a few seconds later shrugged, "I don't know. This is just a drawing."

"Hmm, okay. Thank you," David ruffled the boy's hair, smiled, and waved Rick back a little to talk.

Sean noticed the notes of disappointment in his father's voice, at least as it seemed to the child. David's head was busy thinking about another, more important issue, so he did not notice that the boy's face was sad.

"And what will we do? Do you think you can break through this stone slab? And if it causes the collapse of the lower levels?" said the man, still not quite understanding how his friend can cut off their path with the help of his powers. In addition, the inscription on the ground was bothering him a lot. Who knows, maybe there was something important, and they, having destroyed this slab, will provoke an even bigger problem?

"Give me your knife," Rick held out his hand and David gave him his knife, "Look what I can do," Rick closed his eyes and focused his inner attention on the metal tip of the object. The man exhaled and waved his hand smoothly, a knife whistling flew past astonished Daniel and entered the huge stone behind him, like it was a piece of b.u.t.ter, but not a stone.

Daniel turned and saw a hole that formed in the stone as if it had been carefully cut out there. The smooth edges and perfectly round outline resembled a long cylinder, through the other end of which trees were seen standing behind.

Rick waved his hand, and the knife came back in his hand, "Something like that," the man handed the object back to David, but at that moment everyone present heard a strange crunch.

A crack went along the stone boulder, and it fell apart into a tiny crumb before everyone's eyes.

Rick shrugged guiltily, "Oops, it seems that I haven't calculated the power a bit."

"But this stone could be an important archaeological find," sighed Armand. It is good that it was just a stone. If it had crumbled a slab under their feet, it would not be fun at all.

"Things are getting worse and worse," David ran a hand through his hair, time was running out like water. Elena needed to be rescued, but their crazy idea with breaking through the ceiling turned out to be no less risky than if they continued their journey inside the pyramid. "d.a.m.n, if not for these stupid inscriptions that could be traps, we would have been there long time ago already!"

Sean looked at his father; he first saw him so focused and confused at the same time. The boy understood that David needed his help, but he did not have the strength to help. He did not know the meaning of these signs.

He was again useless. A little more and the father will probably be completely disappointed in him?

When Sean accidentally heard the conversation between David and Armand that the boy almost killed his own mother at birth, it stroke such a fear in the child that he refused to use his powers so as not to harm anyone else.

And now, when his abilities could help, he was afraid that he would again make some mistake and make the situation worse.

The boy felt the pendant on his chest suddenly begin to get hotter and hotter. He took it in his hand to remove it from his neck, but could not move his palm an inch. Panic gripped the child's body, he tried to open his mouth, but the whole world around seemed to freeze.

'The time... is coming...'

An unfamiliar voice sounded in his head like a radio wave.

"Hey, Sean?" the ringing voice of the girl instantly returned the boy to reality.

Ashley was looking at him blankly, "Are you OK?" Before that, she asked him this question several times, but the boy seemed to be deeply absorbed in his thoughts and did not answer her. Only after Ashley poked him in the side and repeated her question again, only then did Sean somehow react to her words. But even now, he looked a little strange.

Even stranger than when the Pyramid Spirit that Ashley met possessed his body. After some thought, she decided that it was still worth sharing this information with Sean. He was her best friend, and it seemed to her that telling about this was right.

"You know, when we were playing before, something happened... Hey, are you listening to me?" Ashley frowned, this Sean Anderson was looking into her eyes, but as if he had not heard her at all.

Inside himself, the boy tried to utter even a word, but his body did not obey any commands. The growing hum in his ears was the beat of his own heart. The blood in his head throbbed.

He did not take his eyes off Ashley, trying to call her for help, but instead of the words spoken, everything was dark in his eyes.

Rick squatted and held his palm on the ground, the texture of the stone slab included in the construction of the pyramid was different from the stone that he had previously smashed into small crumbs with his uncomplicated movement.

"Let me try to make a small hole near the edge. If everything works out without problems, I will then expand the pa.s.sage, and we will let Armand in there. He's immortal anyway, so we don't lose anything," suggested Rick. The idea of using the younger Taubert as an experimental rabbit seemed quite acceptable to the man.

David exchanged a glance with Armand, on which the latter only waved his hand. Like the others, he wanted to quickly deal with everything and go about his personal affairs, because from last night he had not talked to Lina, and left in the morning when she was still sleeping.

"Well, let's try it," David eventually agreed. If Sean could not help deciphering the ancient inscriptions, they had no choice but to go ahead, despite the risk.

"Okay," Rick twisted the knife in his hands and raised it above the ground.

At this moment, the air around him became viscous, which was not even possible to inhale. Rick's hand hovered over the surface of the stone, the tip of the blade of the knife barely touched the ground.

The men felt something begin to squeeze their heads as if the pressure from the outside was much stronger than their internal pressure.

"What's happening?" Rick turned his head toward David and hissed through clenched teeth as much as he could. But David's attention was focused on another object.

Rick looked up and saw a little boy standing on the ground, and with an indifferent expression on his face, looking in their direction. His eyes were black as night, but this blackness was somewhat different. These eyes did not belong to a human, but to another being.

Rick made an attempt to move his hand, the boy tilted his head to the side and the man felt a piercing pain as if a knife in his palm stuck not in the ground, but in his own hand.

Following the pain, he heard a booming monotonous voice in his head, "Do not do this, human."
