"Isen, take care of any that get past me, if they do. Touka, heal them. Fenrir, k.u.miko, fill in gaps where you fit. Aqua, defend Luna and keep an eye out if you can."
I know Aqua doesn't have actual eyes, but I hope it's still clear.
I stepped out. I walked out of the gate, which none below had seen blended into the night sky and the rocks above. I jumped down, the horrible scent of dirty, unwashed scent.
The smell of blood on the children and mother, on the weapons of those men... I could smell everything.
I knew my sense of smell was stronger than before, but properly using it to examine everyone's location in the dark(I don't have night-vision) caused it to really pop out all off a sudden.
My new sense for emotions, that I discovered yesterday with Luna, began picking up fear. It hung heavy in the air, radiating off those kids. Hopelessness, despair, resignation. I felt these from the mother.
l.u.s.t. Hunger. Violence. Murderous desire. I felt these from the... the invaders. I will not call beings that feel that way when doing such a thing 'men'.

As I let my mana flow through my legs, I leaped high over the fearful huddle. As I soared, about to land amongst those murderers, disgust filled me at the intensifying emotion I could feel more and more the closer I got.
It felt like their violent l.u.s.t and murderous spirit were blades in the air, p.r.i.c.king against my skin. It felt wrong, horrible. Absolutely disgusting.
As their eyes tracked up to the golden flashes of light, and came to see me, tail extended behind me to hold me upright as I fell feet first, I had a thought, which became a will.
'I don't want to feel your disgusting emotions or thoughts. Get them the f.u.c.k away from me!' This thought forged into a intent, the simple idea of scattering these disgusting emotions away from me.
Power surged out, my awareness spreading, not into a wall but more like claws, batting away the miasma of murder, clawing through their desire.
The men staggered back, one of them reaching for his head. Chez felt a pounding headache as it felt like rusty knives stabbed into his head and then were savagely ripped out.
Before their awareness could return, I was there. I landed feet first on the chest of the one the others called Chez, and I lifted my Fused Knife, and felt a hungry thrill come from the knife, as if it was aware it would murder.
'An evil blade? If I am to decide that my justice is worth murdering any other... then let an evil blade be my instrument.'
My arm swung down, knife reverse-gripped, and sank into his eye, going past it deep into his head. He was dazed, mind scattered as my will threw his thoughts away, and no way he could react, either by creating a Blood Aura or a simple dodge.
He was knocked back, flying, until he landed heavily, breath whoos.h.i.+ng out, as if his body unaware the knife had already entered his brain. His fellow to my left began to snap to, in time to see 4 white fireb.a.l.l.s flying at him at 4 different spots.
He pulled his mana into a full force Aura s.h.i.+eld, and the impact blew him flying as he hadn't firmly rooted himself to ground. He felt a s.h.i.+ver of fear at how much energy it cost him to s.h.i.+eld his whole body, as he couldn't identify what was being attacked, so he wasted a lot.
In addition, for such small fireb.a.l.l.s, those weird swirling white orbs were terrifyingly strong!
His aura faded as he pulled it back, trying to conserve energy as he blinked away the flash. 'He just cast a multi-fireball spell, so while he says the next incantation I have time! Battle Arts are faster than magic!'
How unfortunate he had no idea of who he faced. Depending on the delay in spell casting against a Foxkin? His eyes opened just to see a s.h.i.+mmer in the air, and then for the world to spin about him, until he saw a body with no head just standing there. That's the last thing that head of his saw.
I had changed the structure of WindBlade, deciding that even if it's fragile, it could cut further if it were thinner. In other words, a paper thin blade of wind, that if you were fast enough to knock aside, would easily shatter to nothing as its durability was so horrid, but it was separated into separate blades so as when one was broken, the next could keep cutting! Against an unsuspecting target, the second WindBlade wasn't even needed.
The one to my right leaped back seeing his compatriots head flying, pulling his aura around him as the rest reacted, coming to and backing away as the body flopped to the ground.
I waited a second, feeling the knife was... I best describe the strange emotional cues as 'eating' while inside the first one's head.
As it 'finished it's meal', I pulled it out, leisurely standing up, a golden mist coming from Touka's staff as she arrived, to envelope the family behind me, and Isen rippled into existence between the family and the murderers. k.u.miko had arrived along Touka, along with the Shade, and Fenrir bounded up behind me.
The knife had changed. The blade was a bit longer by a third, a tad wider, and I could see the red lines in it were glowing as if cinders at the bottom of a fire, spread across the blade in long drifting lines instead of random scratches now.
Info: Originally a normal knife, it was fused with soul energy and mana from flesh with remnants of life, and now hungers to grow into a more powerful weapon. Who knows it's end result.>
I gave out a harsh, barking laugh at this new development. 'Might as well use these guys as upgrade materials then.'
What that meant was that I likely couldn't just blow them all up, I needed to kill them by knife, in the head. It was brain matter that held remnants of soul energy after death for a short while, which is what allowed the weapon to become this way after all.
'Yeah I'm not skilled enough a fighter for that.'
I did well, using a blitz attack to rip through them, but... in terms of skill, hardened warriors like this could probably run circles around me. My stats are good, but I need a better sense for battle. Tricks and my instant casting wont carry me in a fight, especially is I have a (long-ish) knife versus swords and axes.
"Relax my lord." Isen's voice echoed, and I felt his mind reaching to me through the connections. "You are strong, but not experienced. Now is a good time to learn. Relax yourself."
I tried to relax my tensed muscles. "Relax the joints in your arm and wrist, hold the knife a bit looser, not so rigid. Bend your knees..."
I followed the instructions from this master of blades, a swordsmen who's skills were so great he did not have 'sword mastery III', but BLADE mastery III'. Which a fair bit above my combat skills. Actually...

'...he got stronger... I need to check on how the others have grown later...'
"Don't get distracted!"
"Gah!" I barely ducked and rolled past that slash, taking a swipe at the side of his knee as I went by, the blade sc.r.a.ping past his Aura, getting back on foot.
'I wouldn't have been distracted if your stats didn't just grow so much from a single Goblin fight!'
