New Life Online 274 Gill

It's already morning and I'm getting better. Our s.h.i.+ps were damaged by the lizardmen's rampage but I think Two Teeth worked on it and fixed the damages. Our lizardmen friends aren't that friendly towards us like we expected but we're slowly doing our best to make our relations.h.i.+p better. The lizard boss was able to recruit around less than two hundred of his members to help us but it's like one tenth of his remaining forces. He tried his best but they still don't trust us and I can't blame them after all that happened.

"I'm sorry but this is all I can gather. Your friends did a serious damage to our forces that we can't really lend you too much support." The Lizard boss said.

"Don't worry about it. I didn't really expect that much but I guess this will work. Please lead us to the other leaders to explain to them what we're trying to do." I replied. I need to gain their full trust to make this work.

"We will guide you to our main headquarters but I'm sure some of my fellow lizardmen are now heading there to warn our leaders. I'm sure they won't like the idea and will increase their defense and lay more traps so we should be more careful." The Lizard boss explained.

"Oh, ok but I'm a bit curious. How come you can talk but your smaller friends can't? Also, why do you say Kachaa or something..." I asked curiously.

"Kachaa is kinda our expression and how my subordinates talk and I say that a lot when I'm angry. Anyway, I guess you can categorize me as one of your people call "Normal-type Bosses". I was once a normal lizard man and can't also talk but after training and learning, while getting stronger, I became like this. I guess we became smarter the more we rank up." Well, that explains it.

"Do you have a name? Also, if there are stronger lizardmen like you, can you tell me more?" I asked.

"I don't really have a name so you can just call me whatever you want. For my superiors, we have someone we call the "Lizard King". Before we were driven out, he's still a "Rare-type Boss" so we were not able to defend ourselves and gladly, he survived. He's a good leader but he has a temper issue and now, he reached the "Legendary-type Boss" and he's being guarded by two "Rare-type Bosses" and a few Normal ones. He will be hard to convince now that he has the power to take back the island with his group." It explained to me. I can say that even though they're monsters, they are well organized and they respect their leader.

"Then I'll call you "Gill" for the obvious reason. Also, I know you wouldn't believe this but I have a Legendary-type Boss within me and he's kinda stubborn but I trained him and that's why he lends me his power now." I replied.

"DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME!" Ugh...Kyut, don't shout.

"Anyway, don't worry too much. I'm sure if he's smart enough, he won't reject my offer." I give him a guarantee but it's easier said than done.

"Well, if you say so and thanks for the name. Still, be careful. Our King is not ordinary Legendary Boss, his physical and magic attacks are superb and his defense is also off the charts." Gill replied. Well, I'll figure something out.

We started sailing and I can tell that we are all well rested. No reinforcements to retake the island either so I guess the Lizard King they are talking about is not that dumb to send another bunch of lizardmen lowbies. I guess he really wants to invite us there to test our power with his own hands. This will be a tough one.

Now, our s.h.i.+p formation is different. Our s.h.i.+ps are beside each other while our lizardmen friends are guarding our s.h.i.+ps. They surround our s.h.i.+p and being led by Gill. They're swimming pretty well, unfortunately, I can't swim.

"You look serious, is everything ok?" Hmmm? It's Chara and beside her is Osia. I guess she's also concerned with what happened to me earlier.

"I'm fine. I guess I just need to visit a doctor soon. How about you guys? I'm sure you are bored." I asked.

"We're doing great! Well, I haven't really been to places like this my whole life so experiencing this kind of adventure is really a gift from G.o.d. I'm thankful that I'm here with you guys!" She's still cheerful as always.

"Yeah, she's right! My sis won't let me cross the Calm Blizzard but I did because you know, I'm an adventurous kind of girl and I didn't regret it because I found Glacial Sea Serpent." Osia replied too. Her monster soul is also strong.

"I'm sure you are. I'm glad to be with you guys too and I'm sorry that I left out of nowhere and just returned to start a dangerous adventure like this." I'm really glad that even though I left, they waited for me.

"We knew that you'll come back. You might not know it but for some of us, our guild is like a home to us and we're grateful that you made this guild." Chara replied. I didn't really expect that they would feel this way because they just joined us after the war. I'm really glad.

"Haha, you made us worry you know but when you came back, it really made us all at ease. Don't do that again, ok?" Oh... Elou... since when did you get here...

"Thanks but you're supposed to be our lookout. Go do your job..." I replied.

"Haha! Don't worry about that. I heard from our little friend here that our way to their main base would take more than a day of sailing and there won't be any hostile monsters as long as we have them with us." He said while trying to drink something out of a cup.

"We still have to check carefully. I'm sure that some of my subordinates already sent a message to our main headquarters that there will be..."

"Oh, shut up and let me have my drink!" Before Gill can even complete what he's saying, Elou interrupted him and I can tell that they are starting another sort of picnic... it's just morning for heaven's sake...

"You should discipline your members. They need to be doing their jobs right." Gill said to me...

"Well I don't really think of them as my members or subordinates but they are my friends. And I'm sure they are stronger than me now so I don't really want to p.i.s.s them off. Haha!" I replied and started laughing too like the others are doing right now.

"You are so calm. You shouldn't trust anyone. Eventually, someone will betray you and take the stronger side. Humans are all the same." I guess he has a point.

"I understand but if all humans are all like that then I would like to gamble with my fate and my friends. You won't betray me, are you?" I asked.

"Don't joke around. I'm not a human after all." It replied back. This boss seems to be smarter than the first time we've met him or am I just stupid enough to get caught by him by surprise.

I just smiled at him and I can tell that all he really want is to save his people and get their island back. Now I feel sorry for killing its comrades.

We just started sailing this morning and it's almost night again. Time flies so fast that we didn't even realize that it's already our sixth day. We spent four days at Calm Blizzard and Boiling Waters and we stayed at the Lizardmen's First Island for a day because of the storm. Thankfully, because of Gill's guidance, we were able to sail faster than what we expected and he said that if we can maintain our speed, we will be able to reach the Main Island tomorrow afternoon so I guess we will continue sailing through the night. It's not that the gap between places is far but the different kinds of environments are the ones that slowed us down.

The sky is bright and peaceful. Everyone is sleeping and for some reason, I can't sleep yet, probably because I slept all day yesterday because of my random pa.s.s outs. Still, I can't let my guard down. Even if Gill promised me that he will join us to reach the island, I'm sure we still can't trust each other. They all have the chance to strike us down right now as we're defenseless but Gill and his remaining lizardmen haven't really done anything yet so I guess I can trust his words for now. After a couple of hours... in the end, I fell asleep.
