His priorities had become twisted as time pa.s.sed. In the end, nothing mattered if the girl beside of him wasn't content.
Upon seeing that Minhyun was refraining himself from raising another bid, Yoona's heart warmed up. He was sacrificing his pride for her. Out of all people, she knew how hard this choice was. Minhyun had ambitions and one of them was beating Jaemin.
She bit her lip. But why did she feel so bad?
As the sound of Wendy counting down entered her ears, her heart suddenly changed. There had to be something done. Although Minhyun didn't explicitly say it, his image was important just like any other person. If he were to lose against the Moon family, although his company was bigger, people may think that he wasn't as impressive as they thought.
That would be terrible.
Therefore, she gently nudged him and told him to bid once more. This would be their last time.
Minhyun raised an eyebrow after feeling her urge him to bid again. But without questioning her motives, he did exactly what was asked.
Now why did Yoona do this?
She had a plan in her mind. She couldn't be only relying on Minhyun for revenge. After some quick thinking, a smart strategy appeared in her mind. All she needed was for Jaemin to bid after them.
It was a 50/50 shot but by winning the auction, they'd follow the original plan anyways. Either outcome was satisfying for their revenge.
The moment 'forty million' rang in his ears, Jaemin lost control of all his surrounding. He couldn't believe it. Minhyun increased it by a larger increment, symbolizing his mockery. He was being looked down upon. Something within him cracked. The anger built up from the moment Yoona left his grasps to now was going to overflow. Who did this b.a.s.t.a.r.d think he was? Despite the other family members swearing and grabbing Jaemin's arms down to stop him from bidding again, he couldn't help but raise the sign. The anger was blocking his body and his true desires acted upon themselves.
He. Needed. To. Win.
He was the best. n.o.body should be able to beat him.
All the girls fell for him. The company was going to be his. Due to his high IQ, he was one of the top students at school. Everything ALWAYS went his way. G.o.d had never told him no.
This auction was going to end the same. He wasn't going to lose for the first time today.
Jaeun began to shake and fell to the floor. Watching her brother go crazy brought back memories of the past. Events that she didn't want to remember. It's happening again. Those cold, lifeless eyes born from his wicked desires. The ones that she stimulated when she was younger, leading to the most horrid event of in Moon history. Although it was too dark for others to see, the whole family were able to see his flaws again. They thought his darkness was left in the past.
This was worse than her not getting married.
"Forty-one million," Jaemin announced proudly.
The crowd cheered at his confidence while the Moon family was absolutely furious. They immediately took the sign out of his hands.
"Wouldn't this ruin the relations.h.i.+p we have with Chae Minhyun further," the uncle hissed. "He already warned the two siblings to stay away from that peasant girl."
The head of the Moon group nodded. "I agree. I can't believe that boy is related to me! He will be punished. Luckily, Chae Minhyun will ultimately win the bidding so we don't need to worry about our money. The problem is how we are going to mend this whole thing."
"That's true father. I shall try to find a way to schedule a meeting with the MH CEO." ——
Sensing the chaos ensuing on the side of the room, Minhyun couldn't help but smirk. Jaemin had finally exploded. He had been waiting for this moment to come.
Minhyun turned his head towards the girl beside of him. Now what was she planning? By the looks of it, she was deep in thought, preparing for the next moments to come. After all, from her hand gently placed above the sign, it was clear that she didn't want him to bid anymore. Once she gathered her thoughts, Yoona let out a confident smile. It was time.
"Minhyun!" Yoona finally cried. She made sure her voice was loud enough for everyone to hear. "Stop bidding please! You know how i'm sensitive to money. I know that you are able to afford this bunyeo so easily but if give me such an expensive gift, my heart is going to break. You don't need to present me such a fine piece. Your love is more than enough. Even a pack of ramen would make me satisfied. Let the Moon group win it instead!"
People's hearts were moved after hearing the young girl's words. No wonder Chae Minhyun fell for her! She did not care about his money or reputation. Instead, she loved him from the bottom of her heart which is why she didn't need fancy objects for her to understand his love.
Everything had changed. Now, if Minhyun was not to bid, everyone would understand. It was not because he didn't want to pay. It was because he wanted to listen to the girl he loved. All the ladies in the audience squealed upon hearing such pa.s.sion-filled words.
Shocked at first, Minhyun could not move. Was he hearing things or was Yoona really building his reputation and killing the Moon group at the same time? Although he fell in love with the kind side of Yoona, this part stimulated him as well. She was quite sneaky. It was very attractive.
A smirk appeared on his lips. He lifted his arm to caress her head. "You're wish is my command."
