It wasn't only the first floor and the humans who got their leaders set in stone. The other races had also started to centralise their power and choose leaders to lead them whether it be through peaceful means or war. It didn't matter to Marcus and Gaia how the races in the dungeon can decide on a ruler. They would rather that the ruler is decided through a long drawn-out war. This way they would be able to test the commanding capability of the leader and judge whether their strategic ability is up to par or they should be replaced. This was especially true for powerfully warring races which are useful in war. Fortunately, such races can get such a good reputation - or bad depending on how you view it - due to either their war-like, almost barbaric, instincts or their unique const.i.tution. There is no need to explain why a race with war-like instincts would be used to war and would conceive talented generals and warriors meant for war; it is engraved deep within their bones. Meanwhile, races with unique const.i.tutions or unique abilities are usually subject to greed. It doesn't matter which race, organisms are always envious of what other beings have whether it would even be compatible or useful to them at all. A perfect example would be the Feng Clan who were hunted for their beautiful scales. Doing so did not make those hunters more beautiful nor did they gain any boost in strength after doing so but they hunted the Feng Clan to extinction anyway so that they could get their scales. For what reason? They were merely hung as displays that have rotted away due to the pa.s.sage of time. Another example would be the Draenei with their innate ability to teleport. They were hunted down due to people being envious and afraid of their power. Therefore these races would be constantly in a war to save their lives as such there is no need to judge whether they would be fit to rule and have the necessary talent to set up cunning strategies which lead to the demise of the enemy. Even if they weren't fighting to prevent the extinction of their race, they would be fighting to prevent the oppression of their race. A good example of this is the dwarves who have been enslaved by stronger races to make weapons for them. Different species of dwarves have been fighting for freedom since time immemorial and yet they still are unable to be truly free and do what they wish to their hearts' content. Even those Master Blacksmiths who have been 'hired' by strong powers are still tied down by the clauses of their contract. In truth their contract is no different from a slave collar - they simply get more benefits. This was why getting the loyalty of such races is both simple and difficult. It was simple as you only have to promise that they are free to do what they wish but it is difficult as they rarely ever believe such a promise anymore after getting tricked a mult.i.tude of times by unscrupulous rulers and cunning merchants.

In any case, actions speak louder than words and that was certainly the case for the Wood Elves and Cave Dwarves that lived in Marcus' Dungeon. Marcus had not ordered them to do anything ever since he had bought them. He simply allocated a place for them to live and left them to their own devices. As such, they tried to pick a ruler of their own accord to pay back their Lord and benefactor, Marcus. However, they were determined to pick the strongest and most suited to represent their races and serve their Lord. So they devised a simple tournament to do so. The rules were simple and could be summed up in a few words, King of the Hill or Last Man Standing. Except it wasn't only one man but rather the entire family. Whoever wins this little tournament would become the Imperial Family and would lead the Cave Dwarf/Wood Elf Empire. The war only lasted 3 months but the casualties equated to a million-year war. The Wood Elves used to occupy Floor 26-31 however, after the war the only Wood Elves remaining were situated on the 27th and 28th Floors. The rest of the floors were devoid of Wood Elves, well not entirely, but they were certainly devoid of living Wood Elves. The same went for the Cave Dwarves who also live in the 26-31st Floors. They were now located on the 30th Floor and there were no Cave Dwarves anywhere else. Their over ten million population decreased to a hundred thousand. Meanwhile, the Wood Elves were a little better off with a population of two hundred and fifty thousand. With their fast reproduction rate, they would be able to regain their population a decade and a half; the same goes for the dwarves. The only reason that they had such a high decrease in population, to begin with, was that their reproduction speed was incomparable to that of humans. There have been past records of human wars were instead of losing population, they gained population instead. This was not due to war prisoners or slaves but rather only due to newborns. This was why when any other race apart from humans fight there is a ma.s.sive decrease in population.

The Wood Elf Empire capital is called Wod. It doesn't look like a capital city at all as it lacks the four ma.s.sive walls which would normally surround a capital city. Instead, it is situated in a thick forest with roads leading to and from Wod. However, if one was to look from outside the city they would simply see a forest.

On the contrary, the Cave Dwarf Empire capital is called Endar. Unlike Wod, it is situated inside a mountain with only one visible entrance. This entrance is heavily guarded by stout dwarves and a ma.s.sive metal gate that seems to be immovable. It has never been seen opening and most dwarves leaving and entering the city go through a small side door, a really small side door. Don't worry the gate is ma.s.sive in human terms and not dwarf terms, that would just ruin the majesty of such a dull metal door even more.
