Chapter 6: Red Feather Pirates (Part Three)

[Sir! The G4 squad, Gill reporting! Out of 17 of us, 3 are injured by gunshots! Their number is more than expected.]

Dylan's smile faded in an instant. Although he can be clumsy at times never, he takes his responsibility seriously.

After spying them earlier at the bar, he concluded that the reported number of the Red Feathers are inaccurate. It looks as though they move in groups with the executives waiting for reports.

"Wait for me! I will be there soon!"

Dylan dropped the call and run faster as soon as he saw where the Red smoke rises from. Not bothering the streets he ran in a straight line towards his destination. He jumped over every fences and wall that blocked his way until he saw the building.

It was evident that it is the right place. Gunshots can be heard few blocks from there.

Within the building, 11 members of the G4 squad successfully infiltrated the building after overcoming some resistance. The rest of the squad members were either injured and retreated or on the lookout outside watching from the building where the red smoke is rising.

"How many bullets do you have left?" "Still have a pouch full."

"18 bullets left." "Still full!" ""

After several gunfights, the squad proceeded towards the second floor. They captured 5 pirates who surrendered and killed at least two who had opened fire. They took their weapons and replenished their ammo.

The group managed to get to the 2nd floor with no mishaps but they felt it was strange. There should be more than 50 pirates involved with the Red Feathers but up till now they only saw a dozen of them.

It was awfully quiet. Still, the squad never left their guard down. They walked through the hallways quietly but in haste. Although they are not elites anyone can tell that their performance is better than the others.

Just before the stairway to the second floor, the squad saw pieces of evidence of gunfights in the walls and the floor. Also, there are at least a 5 bodies near the stairway and the hallways.

The squad proceeded towards the 3rd floor but unlike before the stench of blood is much thicker. They saw almost a dozen of corpses just before the hallways.

As the hallways clear of any threats, they checked each room they encountered.

Rrrnggg!

One of the squad members' Comm rang. The paused for a second and picked up the call.

[Dan! Can you hear me?]

"Yes, sir Dylan!"

Outside Dylan is looking at the building they are in from the rooftop where the red smoke was rose earlier. He had just arrived and met with the other members of G4 after climbing the building on his own.

Why did he climb the building? It was his subordinate's suggestion, in fear of getting later by being lost in the building, they thought it would be better to climb it. Well with his prowess it is child's play, so he did not think much of it.

He looked at the building where the pirates should be and asked for a report.

"What's the status?"

[Sir! We find it strange, earlier we were just having a gunfight with the pirates earlier but now it seems that they are gone. We have checked all of the rooms on the third floor but found nothing but corpses. They seem to have fought here with another party. There also corpse of people with guns of there own who are dressed differently, unlike the casual attire of the pirates.]

The squad inside the building finished checking all the rooms. After confirming that there are no signs of enemies, they headed towards the fourth floor. Just the are nearing the stairs, they heard footsteps upstairs.

"Sir! We just heard footsteps upstairs please wait for news!"

"Good, I shall wait for news! Be careful!"

Dylan squinted his eyes and looked serious. It seems his hunch is right they are really up to something. If there was indeed a fight between the two parties, then…

[Sir, they are gone! I don't know how but they have escaped! How can they be fast?]

"Any clues behind?"

Dylan was troubled, what magic have they done, he thought to himself.

Suddenly a gust of wind blew strong from the east. It was cool and very comfortable.

"What a strong wind!" Dylan said.

"Sir! What is that moving behind the building!"

One of the members with him, Gill something strange. He pointed at it and told Dylan. It seems like a long object being flung by the strong gust.

Dylan saw the thing and it resembled a rope which is being flung by the wind. It seems to be attached from a high place.

A rope!

"Gill! Quickly tend the injured, tell Dan and the others to go to the port and be on alert! Call for reinforcement, destination? The Harbor!"

The Red Pirates suddenly disappeared? How did they escape? The only exit from the top of the floor should be the windows. Talking about the height, surely the pirates won't jump from that height, so to escape without us noticing they should have used a rope. Then, why did they escape on a window behind from this point of view? It tells that they knew where the navy is watching from, asking how? Simple, the red smoke gave it away.

Gill and the other saluted immediately.

Dylan being hasty bent his knees and prepared to jump. His subordinates saw this and were about to stop but were late. They did not doubt his capabilities to jump far because he is a top elite graduate instead they are worried because of his sense of direction. They doubt he can follow them.

He jumped from the rooftop to another until he arrived in the building where the rope is attached. It was not a rope, those are cloths mostly blanket tied together.

He traced the rope with his line of sight and found an alley perfect for the escape. He also caught sight of a man running with a gun in his hands, seemingly trying to escape.

It was a member of the Red Feather Pirates!
