It didn't take him long to realize that the person chatting on the discord chatgroup was the real deal, instead of a bot created by the mods. He immediately stopped what he was writing and saved it.

He then immediately typed his greeting, but it was to no avail. He forgot that he was muted earlier for 2 hours so he can't type anything in the discord chatroom.

"I need to find a mod to unmute me!" Elyon checked the list of online moderators and sent direct messages to Mishak and Nix.x.xiE (sєʀєи∂ɨρɨтγ_ɑςє). He kindly asked them to unmute him so he can talk to one of his idols.

AuthorWiz: I started writing on RoyalRoad and man I was bad. I just kept writing and trying to improve. You can learn from reviews, but don't let them tear you down. Especially when you start, you will make many mistakes.

AuthorWiz: I get people like this all the time. You just gotta ignore stuff like that and not let it bother you. I know a lot of new authors struggle with people that are rude I certainly did back when I started.

Namake: Idiotic haters exist, yeah. I think it's much harder to swallow when they have actual advice, though.

AuthorWiz: When you get sufficiently big, you will get haters, no matter what.

AuthorWiz: I try to write a minimum of 1,000 words a day. When I uploaded daily, I did 2000-3000.

AuthorWiz: ALSO PLAN THE PLOT Ahead of time. Use an outline. It will make your story so much better.

Nix.x.xiE (sєʀєи∂ɨρɨтγ_ɑςє): You can read all comments and reviews but you can choose which ones that you allow yourself to be affected. If it helps you, receive it well but if it's just destructive, ignore and move on.

Namake: Discovery writing is fine, too.

AuthorWiz: We all are, we all hate doing it.

AuthorWiz: Discovery writing will never be as cohesive and put together

Just by its nature.

Namake: I'm a discovery writer, but I do the mapping method. I have points that I know I want to hit and I discovery write to get to them, then clean it up later.

AuthorWiz: It's just a general vision to have ahead of time. Plot major twists ahead of time, so you can foreshadow them or lead up to them stuff like that.

Sleepteddy: Is it even possible to write without knowing what is gonna come?

AuthorWiz: Also, if you ever post to Amazon like I did. Proofread your stuff a million times. Also, I highly recommend using Grammarly It helps me find a ton of errors. Though its corrections are only right like half the time

New Authors try to use Grammarly to find basic grammar and spelling errors. It also makes mistakes so don't always follow it. This is especially true when it comes to the names of your characters. Grammarly will most likely read them as "incorrect" so be sure to double-check what you are changing when using Grammarly.

Nix.x.xiE (sєʀєи∂ɨρɨтγ_ɑςє): Invest in editors.

Namake: Important to remember Grammarly is wrong a lot. Do you not use editors though, Wiz?

AuthorWiz: But it still helps find typos, misplaced words, etc. Oh, I do. I hired editors too. But I have funds to spend.

Namake: Right.

AuthorWiz: I spent ~$3000 on editing.

Namake: For people who don't, on their first novel, they probably can't afford that kind of money, when they don't know if they'll succeed.

King_of_the_Abyss: Indeed.

AuthorWiz: Yeah. Lots of fan readers will edit for free.
