"Come on it's the last day and I don't have my soul jewel yet so we got to hurry it up."
"I know but we can take it easy since we have to be at base camp before dark and since we started at sunrise we have at least twelve hours it's gonna be okay and since your spirit power broke through to the spirit country level your integration with a thousand-year-old soul jewel shouldn't be so hard."
"Yeah, you're probably right." w.a.n.g Wei said.
The two were traveling at high speed looking for a compatible soul beast for w.a.n.g Wei. Any beast would do but w.a.n.g Wei wanted the perfect beast for him because he wanted to be the best at the inter-academy soul expert compet.i.tion.
"There it is!" Long Yue exclaimed while he pointed at a tree. Around the tree was a bright yellow snake coiled.
When the snake saw Long Yue and w.a.n.g Wei preparing, it slowly slithered down the tree. When the snake began to move, lighting bolts started forming around the snake.
"It really is a thunderstrike snake and look at its length it is at least five thousand years old. How amazing is that? I can't wait for it to become my first soul jewel. I wonder what kind of soul technique I will gain." w.a.n.g Wei said while he manifested his snake claws and defensive scales.
When the snake saw w.a.n.g Wei' snake technique it pounced towards him but it didn't open its mouth instead it swung its tail aiming for w.a.n.g Wei and Long Yue. The two just managed to avoid its tail but they were at a slight disadvantage because they were crouched on the ground. The two jumped up as soon as they could but when they found their balance they were greeted with a bolt of lightning heading straight for them. Long Yue managed to avoid it but w.a.n.g Wei was too slow and could do nothing but cross his arms and let his defensive scales take the hit. When the lightning bolt struck, w.a.n.g Wei let out a m.u.f.fled groan. But other than a few scratches he was fine. But when he uncrossed his arms he saw something that he thought he would never. The explosion attracted another crimson lion it was truly the worst situation. w.a.n.g Wei and Long Yue only managed to defeat their first crimson lion with luck but now there was another one and there was a thunderstrike snake with an age of five thousand years.
"Leave the crimson lion to me I'll deal with it really quick so I can help you." The moment Long Yue said this his first soul jewel glowed up and he slashed in the air following his slash five streaks of red flames flew toward the crimson lion. It could not evade the attack and had to shoot a fireball at the five streaks. However, the fireball only canceled out four flames the fifth his the lion at his leg there was a deep wound but the lion still pounced toward Long Yue.
At the same moment, w.a.n.g Wei pounced toward the thunderstrike snake with his snake claws in a position to swing at the snake. But right before he hit the snake he turned and kicked the snake directly to the head. The snake wobbled for a second but regained its balance.
On the other side a loud roar could be heard even at the base camp they could hear the roar.
"Teacher Li Yun what was that?" Lee Zheng asked.
"Oh, Lee Zheng. You integrated with your soul jewel I see. That probably was the roar of a thousand-year-old crimson lion dying or being killed. To kill a crimson lion one must have immense strength."
Li Yun said while looking toward the direction which the lion' roar came from.
And it was exactly like she said. The crimson lion that attacked w.a.n.g Wei and Long Yue was slashed into five parts while its fur was still burning. Long Yue didn't come out unscathed. He had a wound that ran from his elbow to his wrist. It wasn't serious but he couldn't use that arm without any treatment.
"w.a.n.g Wei. I'm sorry I can only use one more crimson slash after that I can't do anything more. My soul energy will be depleted."
"it's okay. Just one is all I need if you can make it focus on you I can kill it." w.a.n.g Wei replied.
"Okay. Let's do this. Let's kill a five-thousand-year-old soul beast." The next moment Long Yue roared as his Holy Claws manifested. Because he has his soul technique crimson slash his nails were still a crimson red. The thunderstrike snake turned it's head to look at Long Yue. When it saw the wound on his arm his eyes showed that he was rejecting to fight him but that changed when he saw the five flaming streaks heading for it. The snake reacted by shooting five lightning bolts at the five flames. When the two attacks met there was an explosion that left behind a smoke screen. When the smoke dissipated w.a.n.g Wei was nowhere to be seen. The snake thought he fled and was slowly slithering to Long Yue who was out of energy and just barely conscious. When it was in front of Long Yue it opened its mouth and he could see the fangs which reflected the light that fell upon them just when it was about to strike a stream of blood flowed down its back. A deafening screech could be heard after that it was dead silent. The next moment w.a.n.g Wei stood next to the snake with blood on his claws.
He killed the snake with his own hands, he crushed its skull and killed it.
"Man you came just in time. I thought I was going to die. I couldn't see you anymore" Long Yue said.
"Of course. I had to hide so that the snake would focus on you. I would never abandon you. Just meditate for now and restore your power I will integrate with the soul jewel." As w.a.n.g Wei pointed at the snake a soul jewel could be seen. This soul jewel was different from Long Yue' soul jewel the yellow color was less intense and it was lighter.
"Okay just be sure to finish before sundown otherwise we have to find our own way home." Long Yue reminded him.
"Yeah, yeah. You just focus on restoring your energy I will integrate with the soul jewel and we'll be back at base camp before dark." w.a.n.g Wei replied.
