Chapter 111
"What are you wearing?" James opened his eye to his beloved DCO and was suddenly taken back by what he saw . Rue, his fun loving, good natured, sarcastic and playful pixie, had changed her wardrobe . Maybe it was an upgrade? He wasn't exactly sure .
The pixie had changed out her typical, somewhat revealing and teasy pixie garb . In its place, she was wearing, well, essentially, battle armor . James didn't know any other way to put it . She was clad, from the neck down, in s.h.i.+mmering, form fitting, silver armor . Surprisingly, she had gone for an almost practically set of armor, much different from the cliché fantasy RPG armor, that was just essentially a metal bra and panties . James was really not sure how he felt about that… part of him kind of wanted to see the pixie in that type of armor .
Focus . James shook his head, chasing the image away . Later . After this war, he could daydream and fantasize . For now, though, it was all business .

"Obviously it's my war gear . " The pixie stuck her tongue out at him and waived her hand . Instantly, a flash of light covered James . After a brief moment, as the light paused, James noticed his tentacles had changed . With a grin, he pulled up an image of himself . His...o...b..was now clad in a dark red metallic looking armor, and his tentacles were covered in what appeared to be a mult.i.tude of metallic scale armor pieces, with various spikes sprouting from them . Honestly, if he had seen himself as a monster in a game, he would be intimidated . Though, obviously, all the flashy armor for himself, and Rue, was just that, flashy, and unnecessary .
"Was that really-" Rue cut him off as he spoke and waived her hand again . This time, the doc.u.ment he sent her opened up in front of the two of them . She flew over to him, her armored wings seeming to make a slight hum as she neared him and sat atop his core .
"It's thematical . " She commented, as she turned towards the doc.u.ment . With a waive of her hand, she pulled up a second one, grinning . "Also, it seems Xander can't be too much of a d.i.c.k to us . Since this whole event is being broadcast to the world . "
James had forgotten that point . And he glanced around panicked for a moment . That was right, the Dungeon War was going to be broadcast to every DCO player in the world . That meant, Xander wouldn't be able to interfere . It also meant, win or lose, the outcome would not be able to b debated . This was as much a showcase of the new feature, as it was a broadcast of the very even that would define James's life .
"No pressure, eh?" He mumbled, but his eye widened as he saw what exactly the second set of notes was .
Dungeon War Guide for Dungeon Cores .
"Did we really?" He didn't even have to finish his sentence . The other guide, the one Z had sent him, was the guide for players . But it looked like, Xander, for once, hadn't completely decided to screw James over . He figured the developer was extremely confident in BLANK, and James had an inkling that if Xander had decided to cheat and withhold information from James, the duo might actually be p.i.s.sed off . Elite gamers, after all, hated cheating . If they were going to win, it was because they were better . So, that compet.i.tiveness, that arrogant drive, actually seemed to have played out in James favor .
Of course, James also now had the notes on how the Dungeon Wars would work for players as well . Something he was sure BLANK already knew . Something he was positive Xander had planned to withhold from him, in one last attempt to slight him, minorly of course . But, in war, knowledge was power, and James had not been about to let the duo get such an advantage . Especially because while James was sure BLANK intended to utilize their own skills to overpower James and his dungeon and its players, James actually relied on his own players . James's biggest advantage, he was sure of it, was his players . So, he needed to know what the dungeon war would be like for them .
"Which one should we go over first?" As he spoke, James was pulling up his research timers as well, in order to double check everything was moving forward as it should be . All three of his dungeon war related research options were at level 5, and they were steadily working towards level 6 . Of course, the level 6 research took a total of 384 hours, so even with the roughly 27 hours cut off thanks to James's enhanced research level 7, he still had 357 hours to go . He had started it before his immersion though, a little over an hour and a half before he immersed . The research timer, therefore, glowed before him, showing 316hr 49min 22s . Sadly, level 5 was the highest he was going to reach for his dungeon war research this time . Hopefully, it was enough .
"Well, I can give you the spark notes of the player guide . " Rue grinned as she spoke, and James found himself nodding instantly . Of course, she had already read through probably both . She was after all just as focused on winning as he was . The usually laid-back pixie became scarily productive when she was focused . After all, d.i.c.ken racing was created in a day .
"That works . "

"Okay, so long story short . Essentially, this dungeon war, from what I can tell, is going to be a full war . " That was terminology James didn't understand, but luckily, his pixie had his back . "It seems dungeon wars have two different modes . Skirmishes, which last three days, or Full Wars . Based off of the description of both, I am pretty sure BLANK is going to have us engage in a Full war . "
"How come?" The pixie glared at his interruption but choose to respond .
"Full wars last five days in immersion . They are essentially a skirmish, with an additional day of invasions, and a final battle . Full Wars are the only option that can lead to a full core destruction . " Her voice grew dark . "Trust me when I say, full core destruction is not a good thing . "
James nodded, he was sure the pros and cons of both skirmishes and full wars had been listed in the notes, as well as what happened for victors and losers . He was certain, from the way Rue made it sound, that having your core destroyed probably was extremely terrible for the dungeon, and likely the entire town . Which, considering the outside economic impact, could be really bad . Already the V coin markets had begun to bustle, and fluctuate, especially with the release of the notes about cross dungeon interaction . The outside world was about to become extremely tied to DCO .
"Alright, so how are the wars going to work?" That was what he really needed to know . That was what he needed to master .
