For Daniel and Sisley, since that time they had cut cla.s.ses, they had grown closer to one another.
Daniel loved talking to Sisley and had grown to like the warm feeling every time they were together. Sisley was like a breath of warm fresh air after the never-ending rain and cold.
Also, Daniel knew what Sisley felt for him. He was not an idiot. With her beautiful hazelnut eyes shone every time they were together was enough proof that she likes him.
However, instead of backing away, Daniel found himself being drawn towards her innocent adorable face and cheerful heart-warming smiles and personality.
Sisley was very different compared to Evangeline's strong, intimidating self. Sisley was the kind, sweet, delicate, cute and frail type. The type that stirred anyone's manly instincts to protect and cherished for the rest of her life.
At first, Daniel thought that Sisley was a boring woman. But after talking and getting to know her, he found himself being drawn to her wits and sense of humor instead.
Daniel was amazed at how kind and caring Sisley truly was. Like every time they secretly saw each other after school, she would first ask him how was his day and that if he was hungry, and she would immediately feed him with her home cook meal – well, what was left of it anyway.
Daniel also found Sisley's kind and caring nature irresistible. Like the one time he found her making her way and giving her all in helping a student who was lost. Also, knowing that she was in the health committee, the newspaper club which she solely focused writing about advocates and rights, and other organizations that concentrated on helping fellow human beings, made him think that she would be a good Queen in the future.
A Queen that he would like to be by his side.
Daniel knew that what he was doing was wrong, but he couldn't stop himself. He couldn't stop himself from meeting up with Sisley in secret after school at the garden. He even sometimes skipped lunch or eat little so he could have room for her cooking. He was so caught up with these new found feelings when he was together with her. A happy and warm feeling that filled his heart with joy and excitement.
"Hey."
Daniel blinked. He was immediately pulled out from his warm thoughts. He glanced at the stunning woman who was seating opposite him.
Evangeline smiled sarcastically and raised an eyebrow.
"I know that I'm beautiful, but you don't have to stupidly gape at me with mouth hanging open." She teased with her usual soft and clear voice.
Daniel frowned. He couldn't help but compare Evangeline's confident, sarcastic tone to Sisley's warm and cheerful ones.
"It looks like your thoughts are not with me as I can see your brain is scattering all over the place."
Daniel frowned deepened. This was another thing that he didn't like about her. The way she said words in a soft voice but sarcastic tone. The way she spoke like she belittled everyone. Like she was above the rest. Whenever she opened her mouth, only haughty and conceited words came out.
Daniel sighed helplessly.
They were at a luxury mall inside a famous Michelin awarded restaurant having their once a week date every weekend.
"The game on Monday… The teacher forced me to play in the sports fest, so the cla.s.s president put me in the dodgeball game in the morning while pa.s.s the baton in the afternoon. The P.E teacher said that it's for my grades, so I expect that you'll be there, attending to me."
Evangeline chimed softly, and with refined and cla.s.sy movement, sliced her meat and ate it before sipping her wine.
Daniel closed his eyes tight. This was another thing he didn't like about her.
She's so bossy!
He felt like he was her servant and not her boyfriend. Doing her a.s.signments, her projects, carrying her bags, her things, her shopping bags. And now, she wanted him to tend to her during her plays?
Daniel inwardly screamed in frustration.
Doesn't she know that I'm playing two games in the morning and two games in the afternoon? Doesn't she even care about me at all?
The second year management course only had two sections with more or less twenty students per section. Not because they were few who took the course, but because Unmei Academy only took students who have an influential background or that have a national level IQ or was recommended by the academy itself.
Thus, having so few students, most students would play multiple games on that day.
"I can't. I have two games in the morning and two games in the afternoon." Daniel said helplessly. He didn't notice that he was beginning to forcefully cut his meat until the knife made screeching sounds against the plate.
"You can't?"
Evangeline's ice cold face remained neutral, yet her soft voice had a mocking tone mixed in it. She smirked and didn't say anything more.
Daniel was about to explode in anger and frustration. He inwardly cursed.
There it is! That mocking voice and eyes.
Every time that he couldn't heed one of her demands, she would give him a cynical smile and a disappointed look.
Daniel lost his appet.i.te and just contented to text their team's basketball manager, asking for their daily practice routine.
"Who is it?"
Daniel's eye twitched. Still, he remained polite and gentlemanly in answering.
"Nina. Our basketball manager. I'm asking for our daily routine since the match with the other universities are coming up in the first week of Fall."
Evangeline stared at Daniel with a still smiling face but sardonic eyes. She knew that Nina had a crush on him. She knew that the girl would alter Daniel's schedule, making it earlier than the rest so the woman could have 'alone time' with him.
"Let me see."
Evangeline softly said as she extended her hand while continuing to smile at the handsome man.
Daniel frowned and sighed.
He knew better than anyone that it was useless to argue with her, so he just obediently handed his phone.
Evangeline's smile grew wider when she saw Daniel's schedule. Like what she expected, it was earlier than the rest. She glanced at her boyfriend who she silently called an idiotic oblivious guy.
She pressed the call b.u.t.ton.
"h.e.l.lo, is this Nina?"
Evangeline just beamed at Daniel when the man's eyes bulged out, staring at her in disbelief.
"This is Evangeline Heart. I just want you to know that the man you are secretly coveting and scheming at is already seeing someone, and that someone is me in case you are leaving in a cave and hasn't heard the news. Well, I couldn't exactly blame you since you really look like a cavewoman with no morals whatsoever. Nice talking to you. Bye."
Without an ounce of guilt, Evangeline handed Daniel's phone back to him and resumed eating like nothing happened.
...
…..
BAM!
"What the h.e.l.l is wrong with you?!"
Finally, Daniel couldn't take it anymore and exploded. He slammed his palm on the table which caused the people to look their way.
Evangeline just tapped a napkin on her lips and arranged that piece of cloth on her lap once more before facing Daniel. Calm and composed, completely opposite from the fuming man.
"What do you mean, Daniel?" She asked innocently and smiled.
"Don't play dumb with me! Why are you so mean and harsh? Are you even human? Where's your heart?"
Evangeline just stared at the furious man with a still smiling face.
"I don't understand why you are so angry, Daniel. I just told her what's on my mind. Unless… freedom of speech is now forbidden?"
"You could have told her kindly without the insult! Don't you have any compa.s.sion?"
Evangeline stared at Daniel some more before she bent over and held her chin at the back of her palm.
"Kindly? I don't know how to put it in any other way. Would you like it if I said please?" Evangeline lazily smiled and continued when Daniel was rendered speechless.
"And what do you mean by insults, Daniel? Those are my honest opinions of her. If I really wanted to insult her, I wouldn't say cavewoman with no morals but a s.l.u.tty wh.o.r.e, prost.i.tuting herself to get you between her legs."
Daniel gasped and closed his eyes tight. His fingers balled into fists, trying to control himself, afraid that he would hurt the woman in a moment of anger.
"You are heartless…"
Daniel hissed through clenched teeth as he abruptly stood up and was about to storm out for who knew how many times now, but Evangeline's sweet voice stopped him on his track.
"What?!" He snapped.
"You still hadn't pay the end of your meal."
"....."
"....."
Daniel breathed a mouthful of air as he grabbed for his wallet and tossed a few thousand dollars on the table and left without a word.
…..
…..
Evangeline stared at the money in front of her, her eyes glint in coldness that it could probably freeze anyone seeing it.
"Excuse me. More wine?"
Evangeline snapped out from her momentarily loss of self at hearing that deep clear voice. She raised her head and stared at that messy dark hair and black thick-rimmed eyegla.s.ses.
Evangeline lazily held her goblet and Eric poured wine into it. He bowed slightly and then attended the other guests.
Evangeline didn't care about Eric one bit. She wasn't curious nor bothered to know why Eric worked at one of Blue River City's famous expensive restaurant that served only luxurious cuisine.
As long as he doesn't cross me, I won't do anything in turn.
