Satele was still lamenting over the fair of the cab that she hadn't register yet where she was, but now that she was standing just outside the place, reality began to sink in.
Forget it! I'll just ask the president to reimburse me all the expenses tomorrow.
Her excitement overtaken other emotions she was feeling, couldn't wait to find all the juicy news that was waiting for her inside.
She didn't know why those thugs brought the dog here, but her mind was already formulating the best insider for tomorrow's news.
It was always said that all businesses had dirt. Beyond that harmless, friendly exterior that the place portrayed, who knows, maybe they were secretly experimenting on animals? Or that they were killing them for the meat and pelt to sell in the market?
Meanwhile, the two thugs went inside the building, and Satele was hot on their tracks. She acted all natural like she was just there to tour around with her phone in hand while secretly taking pictures of the two and the place.
A man wearing a suit and tie with gla.s.ses, looking sharp, greeted the two of them, and they were led towards the private, restricted area along a well-hidden corridor.
Satele glanced left and right, and when the coast was clear, she acted naturally as she followed the people towards the private corridor.
Before she could make a single step, however, a man clad in black suit, pants and white tie with dark eyegla.s.ses and an earpiece sticking in his ear, blocked her way.
"Miss, this is the restricted area. Please turn back." The man said all emotionless, his voice robotic.
Satele blinked and fluttered her eyelids innocently. "I'm with those two."
The man paused, then he checked the earpiece on his ear. After a while, he looked at the woman while Satele couldn't fathom the face of the man hidden beneath that eyegla.s.ses. She was secretly sweating now, but she refused to give up. She believed that just ahead lie the many secrets that she would be the first to uncover.
Who knows, maybe if she really did manage to find the dirt of this place, her future would be secured. Many media and magazines would ask for her left and right.
Her fantasies, and thoughts were interrupted when the man's monotonous voice crept in her ear.
"Alright." Then without warning, the man grabbed her by the elbow and dragged her away from the hidden corridor.
"Let me go!" Satele hissed and glared at the man, struggling to break away from his iron-like grip.
"What's going on?"
Satele instantly stopped struggling when she saw the approaching people. And when her violet eyes met that of onyx, dark ones her body immediately shuddered.
Asher too was momentarily stunned at the sight of the woman and he immediately signaled the guard. "Let her go."
Satele's arm was immediately released, yet she wished that the guard didn't since all her strength seemed to have left her. It was a good thing that her legs have gone somewhat numb and paralyzed, staying rooted on the spot while her arms automatically held each other in an attempt to stop the trembling of her body.
Memories of the past came rus.h.i.+ng in waves that knock the air from her lungs while she was having difficulty in calming herself.
You? How? Why are you here? Why are you here…
Asher Cole!
Satele bit her lower lip and clutched her arms tightly hoping the pain would make her nerves respond to her while her gaze remained elusive. Not daring to look at the man that had been a constant nightmare to her.
"You know her?"
Satele's eyes unconsciously moved towards that pleasant, soothing voice coming from a tall man, taller than Asher with an incredibly handsome face. Her body trembled at the sight of the man's silvery piercing eyes that contained…. absolutely nothing.
She felt that this man was very dangerous.
While Asher scoffed and calmly replied. "Just a girl I f.u.c.ked in the past."
...
...
Just a girl I f.u.c.ked in the past
… a girl I f.u.c.ked in the past…
… f.u.c.ked in the past….
The words kept boring inside her head. No matter how much she blocked it, it still penetrated her mind, shaking her heart and body in anger and embarra.s.sment.
She didn't even know that she was already drawing blood from biting her lower lip hoping to numb her rampaging emotions while glaring at the man who took her virginity.
"Sir, this girl was found snooping around." The guard had perfectly timed himself to break the awkward, tense silence.
Asher slightly tilted his head and crossed his arms, smirking in arrogance while challenging the angry woman's gaze. He could somehow guess what she was doing here "Give her VIP access."
The guard was surprised, yet he expertly masked it with indifference while Alvaro remained silent at the side, quietly studying his second brother and the woman. Then the corner of his lips gradually rose in silent understanding.
"But Sir—!"
It was the tall woman dress in formal s.h.i.+rt and skirt that protested.
However, Asher just raised his hand, stopping the tall woman from protesting further. "There's nothing to worry about. She's no threat. She's just a wannabe journalist in her school's newspaper club." Then he smirked while his voice turned taunting. "Isn't that right… Satele Risova?"
"….."
Satele didn't respond. She tightly closed her eyes and took a large intake of air to calm herself while gradually releasing her chapped lip.
After seconds of calming herself, she angrily shot a glare towards Asher one last time before she s.h.i.+fted her head sn.o.bbishly to the side, mumbling incoherent curses towards the arrogant man.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Give her a VIP pa.s.s. Now!" Asher snapped towards the guard who immediately scurried off to get a VIP pa.s.s.
"R-right away."
Then without waiting for the guard to return, Asher led the way towards the inner parts of the corridor. "Let's go."
He had taken four steps before he turned around and angrily shouted at the unmoving woman. "Well? Are you coming or not?"
Satele didn't answer, though her body gradually moved while her legs took tiny steps behind Asher who turned around and resumed walking. While the tall, gorgeous lady didn't mind the intruder anymore and expertly reported the state of EvaLand beside the man.
On the other hand, Álvaro was enjoying the show. His lips didn't stop smiling while watching the meek woman beside him.
"Miss Satele Risova, right? h.e.l.lo, I'm Álvaro Cole. Asher's older brother."
Satele glanced towards that pleasant voice only to find that remarkably handsome man smiling at her that almost blinded her eyes.
However, she felt that his kind gestures and gentle façade were nothing more than a sham. Luring everyone in before devouring them whole.
Satele frowned.
Brothers?
They were nothing alike. Though both were eye candy, they were entirely different except maybe the color of their hair that was almost identical.
But… even though she hated—no, loathe Asher Cole, she still preferred the man's eyes. Though brute and overbearing, he was honest and real. Compared to this man, Álvaro Cole, his eyes were profoundly mesmerizing, yet she only felt danger in looking at them. Like the more she looked into his eyes, the more she would find herself falling deeply in the dark abyss with nowhere to return. Trap. Untraceable.
While Álvaro wasn't offended the least when the woman ignored him. Instead, his smile grew even broader. "It seems that my brother has taken quite a liking to you." He even knows what school and club you are in. Even remembers your name. *chuckle
Satele paused, shocked that the man had said that Asher likes her, completely out of the blue. However, her shock turned to annoyance and anger at his next words.
"You really must be good in bed."
"….."
"….."
This pair of brothers is really the same! Hooligans to the core!
Satele shot a glare towards Alvaro before snapping her head forward, taking long strides to escape the man.
"Don't misunderstand. That only happened once… and never will in the future."
Álvaro chuckled while he strode forward, taking his own leisurely pace. "Mind tell me what happened between you two? Don't get offended but…" He lazily sized the woman up and down. "You're not my brother's type. To sleep with you, something must have happened, right?"
Satele slightly wavered, faltering on her tracks. Fortunately, she quickly recovered and resumed walking like nothing happened while spitting out the words.
"Mind your own business."
