"Comfortable in her last days?" Nolan repeated incredulously. An idea began to blossom in his mind.
"Mr. Wong sent his own chopper and pilot to help her get home in comfort. He is quite kind if you would give him a chance and try to know him better as a new brother should." His disapproval rolled off of the old man in waves towards Nolan
Nolan thought of his empty one room dorm he shared with a roommate. He had never allowed Ellie to go there in fear of her refusing treatment upon seeing his living situation. He knew she was sensitive to those things so she had stayed in the hospital. Nolan knew she longed to be away from the dull wall and the day after day dulge of needles and pokes. People constantly reminding her she was broken beyond repair.
He knew that every CEO came with a mansion same as every prince coming with a castle. Nolan looked behind him at his sister softly groaning in her sleep. They had been trying for answers for months and the same answer was always that Ellie was dying due to the accident. The bureaucracy of it all was incredibly disturbing. It would be a miracle for Ellie to get some reprieve from it. She could die with some peace and comfort at her husband's bound to be luxurious estate. He knew his college was too barren with funds to help him with his situation, much less his sister.
However much he loathed to admit it, now with her new married status. Ellie also was owner to everything that the high and mighty Henry Wong owned. His sister owned a sw.a.n.ky penthouse apartment, no doubt in upper Manhattan where he imagined his brother-in-law. He smiled as he realized as Ellie was his lawfully wedded wife he couldn't say no. But, if he did, Nolan had seen Henri in enough tabloids to know which ones would be itching to find out about his secret nuptials.
Nolan clapped the old man's shoulder, "That's so thoughtful of Henry. We can go to Mr. Wong's building together as I was planning on moving Ellie there soon anyways. It's much closer to the hospital."
The elderly butler shook of Nolan's hand. "I beg your pardon. The sir only asked that I see that she's comfortable. Nothing is ready. That house is not fit for a lady such as the madam. I may be hard of hearing, but I had my hearing aids on. Master did not say anything about bringing the Madam Wong to the house. That's preposterous."
Nolan's eyes softened. He knew how to swindle his old tenured professors into giving him grants, he could take a self-respecting butler any day. "It's not. He's a good man, you said so yourself. I'm sure he was worried about transport. But since you've parked the helicopter on the hospital roof it should be a breeze. I have spoken to several doctors here about moving her to a private residence and they've said nothing against it. As long as we've got a nurse on staff we should be fine." It was a lie, but a little one he could easily gloss over. He'd never asked, but who would know.
