Donna didn't let Anna see Diego until she finished her breakfast. Anna knew Donna well and sat through until completing her food.
"Can I at least now see Diego?" Anna appealed.
Donna allowed.
"Well, where is he? I haven't seen him since I arrived!" Anna asked, looking around, exploring the house.
"Diego woke up so early and already ate breakfast. Since he was free, I asked him to get some groceries."
Looking at the time, Donna said that he might return anytime soon.
Just as the two ladies chatted, Diego entered via the kitchen, carrying two large bags of groceries.
"Hey, Diego? Look at you being so good boy," Anna greeted.
"Anna?"
Alarmed from the voice, Diego placed the bags on the counter and then asked why she was here so early in the morning.
"I heard that you already ate breakfast, so I don't have to wait. I'll give you ten minutes to get ready. We are going out," Anna announced.
"Going out, now, where?" Diego asked curiously.
Anna gestured him not to ask any more questions and only follow her directions.
Diego was available as well, and so, he agreed. Instead of ten minutes, he asked Anna to wait because he hasn't taken a shower yet.
Diego returned to his room and went straight to take a shower.
..
Anna waited downstairs, helping Donna in arranging the groceries. She followed Donna's instructions and organized the items orderly at their respective places.
"Anna, can I ask you something?" Donna spoke hesitantly.
"Something you say, alright, hit me with your question," Anna replied as she placed the flour in the pantry.
"Did something happen yesterday?" Donna asked.
The question threw Anna back as she jerked. Thanks to the refrigerator that screened her figure from Donna's vision.
"Haha, nothing, Donna. Why? Did something happen?" Anna cloaked her response.
"Nothing, Diego came home yesterday, he looked weak, his face sulked. Plus, he didn't talk to us and went straight to his room. I got worried if something had happened to him at the prom. Did anything happen between Lillian and Diego?"
Donna anxiously inquired.
Anna closed the refrigerator door and a.s.sured that nothing went wrong, and Diego must have felt that way since it is like the last ceremony for the high school students. Anna also added that almost everyone got emotional.
Donna appeared to be half convinced and half unsatisfied with Anna's response. However, she didn't pry further and put an end to the topic.
Anna exhaled, praising Donna for not diving deep into the subject. She realized that Diego didn't mention his parents about Lillian leaving. Also, since the three friends are close, even their families know each other pretty well. If Donna learns that Lillian left her son in the middle of their dance, then it would also depress Donna.
Anna believed she should soon do something and settle things smoothly before it gets all complicated.
Diego came down all dressed up in his casuals. Seeing him, Anna let Donna handle the remaining groceries while she dragged Diego straight away.
"Can you drive?" Anna asks.
Diego admitted.
"Alright, drive mine," Anna said and threw the keys for Diego.
The two settled in Anna's car and buckled up the seat belts.
"Where are we going?" Diego asked casually.
"We are going to meet that idiot and kick her b.u.t.t for leaving you alone last night," Anna replied.
It only strikes Diego then that Anna was planning to take him to Lillian's house.
Last night's incident caused Diego a lot of emotional stress. He was not prepared to face Lillian, not at the moment. Somehow he felt uneasy; his heart refused to see Lillian.
Why?
He is also her friend. Just like Anna, he can go straight to Lillian's house and ask her why she left him without any word. However, it wasn't easy for Diego. Unlike Anna, he didn't see her only as a friend. He liked her.
For him, the girl he loved to abandoned him in the middle of the night, it hurt Diego.
He resisted Anna's plan strongly.
"Diego," Anna called.
"Don't let this to create a gap in your relations.h.i.+p with Lilly," she said.
"I understand that last night you got hurt by her, but you also have all the right to go to her, and question. Remember, we are friends, right?" Anna remarked openly.
Seeing her point, Diego thought it would be pointless to keep on worrying to himself. Now that they finished high school, Diego can't keep on hiding his feelings for Lillian, a secret.
He needs to step up and be bold.
Despite the lingering embarra.s.sment, Diego agreed on one condition that Anna should question her and not him. Anna quickly accepted.
"Leave it to me, I was planning on kicking her b.u.t.t for you in the first place."
With those words from Anna, Diego switched on the engine and left to meet Lillian Grey.

Reaching her home, the two got welcomed by Edwin.

"Edwin, sorry for the intrusion, but we need to see Lilly right away. We will come down soon after murdering your daughter, sorry for suddenly visiting you," Anna spoke as she dragged Diego upstairs to meet Lillian.
Edwin stood frightened, not knowing what was going on. However, he let them be and went back to his work, hoping to see his daughter alive. He knew that the kids were joking when they told him about killing Lillian.
'Kids these days say daring things so easily!' - Edwin thought to himself.
..
Barging into Lillian's room, Anna yelled Lillian to come out.
"I'm supposed to say come in, but you guys are already here," Lillian's gentle response aggravated Anna and once again bothered Diego.
He appeared already defeated with how much Lillian looked at ease. She was practically glowing.
'What happened last night? She looks so happy.' - Diego wondered.
It is the first time he felt a little hatred of Lillian. She appeared to be enjoying the mood while Diego spent the entire night wrecking his brain and being depressed.
"Are you joking right now, Lilly? Please tell me that you are joking. How can you do this? After all, I warned you already not to cause any trouble. You run away in the middle of the event, ignored all of our calls, and didn't respond to us."
Anna fumed.
Startled from her sudden yelling, Lillian blinked. She remembered leaving the campus last night without informing her friends.
Lillian knows that it is her mistake, and so, she remained quietly listening to Anna.
"Do you even realize how Diego feels with your actions?" Anna asks, leaving a break for Lillian to explain herself.
Lillian sighed.
"Alright, calm down, you two. I am not going to run away for eternity. I know I made a mistake, and I owe you guys an explanation."
Lillian asked the two to take seats while she admitted to her rash behavior last night.
With the two seated, Lillian Grey apologized to her friends sincerely.
"Diego, I am sorry for leaving without telling you anything."
"Anna, I'm sorry for not responding to your calls."
"However, in my defense, I didn't leave the event in the middle. Almost many couples fled the campus. Plus, I got tired of dancing, and I would surely call it a night if not for the emergency."
Lillian expressed.
'Emergency?' – Diego remarked.
"And what would be that emergency?" Anna asked, still holding in her glare directed at Lillian.
Seeing the two focus on her so intense, Lillian hesitates.
It should be easy for her to talk about Giselle now that she realized it, but Lillian seems to struggle to open about last night.
Somehow she felt it difficult to speak. If it was Anna, it might be possible. However, with Diego in the room, Lillian held back from revealing the entire story.
'But, I can't hide it from them. These two are my best friends,' – Lillian thought.
Debating to herself if or not to talk about Giselle, Lillian carefully chose her words.
"I never thought that saying it out loud would be so challenging, but I can't hide it from you two most importantly."
With a short pause, Lillian reveals the big news.
"I like Giselle."
"And I'm planning to ask her out soon."
