Giselle did not argue back, but agreed to it, because she, herself knew that the other kids did not like her at school and there wasn't a single, real friend for her. Plus, Giselle knew that she was different from others at an early age, but she hid it from her family. To process such a change, within herself, took a lot of time, and so, she temporarily chose to keep it a secret. However, at school, a few kids were able to point out Giselle. They found her isolation, weird, one of the kids called her out. At such a young age, Giselle was not able to handle it, and so her reactions exposed herself causing the rumor to spread like wildfire.
Now that she is going to change schools and start a new life, Giselle wanted to come out to her family.
***
She did it on her birthday; Giselle came out of the closet to her family alone at first.
The family did not react to her expectation because they looked like they antic.i.p.ated it. Also, they did not hate her for that. Instead, Melanie hugged Giselle and cried out loud, thinking how much it would hurt to keep it alone and go through such hards.h.i.+ps at school.
The news was too much to handle for Eric but more than him it came as a blow to Gigi, her sister
Being the father, Eric accepted Giselle no matter what, it was hard, yet he comforted Giselle and told her that he would be there for her always in life. Meanwhile, Gigi thought the kids only teased but never knew that the teasing became a fact.
Gigi was a teenage girl at that time, so she did not have the mental competence like her parents. She stopped talking to her sister abruptly.
...
No friends, Giselle can handle it, but without her sister talking, Giselle became worse, it spoiled her health. She caught with high fever and got admitted to the hospital.
Melanie and Eric advised Gigi to talk to her sister. Gigi saw with her eyes that Giselle was hurting because of the severed relations.h.i.+p between the sisters.
...
After spending three days in the hospital, Giselle returned home. That night, Gigi went to Giselle's room.
Giselle eagerly woke up from her nap sitting up straight she waited.
No- she did not wait, she talked first, not planning to waste a minute.
"I'm sorry," Giselle addressed first.
Gigi's heart ached to hear those words, tears swelled her eyes, yet she repressed it.
"What are you apologizing for?" Gigi spoke after a long time.
Just hearing her sister's voice, Giselle's face glowed. Gigi spotted it.
She sighed.
"G- Give me some time," Gigi said.
Confused at her words, Giselle kept blinking.
"Give me some time to understand-"
"I'm not like mom and dad. I'm not a grown-up. I've only heard about s.e.xual ident.i.ties let alone, think that my sister has become one it is too much for me to process."
Gigi explained.
"I- I am not ashamed of you. I don't hate you either. I don't know how to react. So, give me some time."
Gigi expressed sincerely.
Giselle understood her sister's concern. She did not ask any further question but only agreed.
Gigi smiled lightly, that night before leaving, she advised Giselle to eat regularly and not worry about anything.
"No matter what, I will never hate you, Giselle. Remember that, and live your life."
That was the last advice Gigi gave before exiting the room.
Giselle never felt sad after that, she knows in heart, that Gigi cares and still believes in her sister.
***
Years pa.s.sed-
Gigi never reconciled but she also never ignored Giselle. They talk but only less. In front of Giselle, Gigi never showed much affection, but behind the scenes, Gigi always cared for her little sister. Though she never expressed it, Gigi, alone knew that she still loves her little sister very much.
Maybe it because Gigi started growing, she goes outside and sees things. She learns about everything that is happening around. All of these let conceal Gigi from openly declaring her sisterly affection. Instead, she looked out for Giselle, silently from the shadows.
Giselle doesn't know it, and till this day, she still thinks that her sister is taking time to understand her.
***
When Lillian Grey asked about Gigi, Giselle's mind traveled back to the time when they were close. A lot has happened and, right now, there is no fake friend in Giselle's life.
Lillian Grey stood in front of her; Even though Lillian is the girl she fell in love, her first love, over time, Giselle saw a good friend in Lillian. The respect, love, care – Giselle felt it all from Lillian Grey.
Not once she feels that Lillian Grey faked with her. One of the reasons, she fell for Lillian Grey is also for her open, honest personality.
Giselle used to wonder if she could even speak to Lillian Grey. However, things happened and now, the girl, she loves is standing in front of her, in her room.
There is no fake. There is no judging – only open feelings.
Giselle explained to Lillian Grey about her sister.
"She asked me to give her s.p.a.ce and time, to understand me," Giselle said.
She continued to tell how over the years they both never went back to the original state.
…
Lillian Grey listened to her quietly-
Despite Giselle saying that Gigi still taking time to understand her little sister, Lillian Grey saw with her eyes how much Gigi cared for Giselle. Even though it is harsh, rough, and sounded as if she rejects her sister, Lillian Grey understood that Gigi still loves Giselle.
"Good," Lillian clapped.
"There are people who don't make such requests. At least yours still trying," Lillian said.
Giselle's face still fazed from the explanation, did not change even after Lillian's comment.

"I'm sure she understands you, Giselle. She is your sister, don't worry, the family bond doesn't break like that," Lillian consoled as she patted Giselle on her shoulders.
"Thanks," Giselle returned.
Just then, Lillian Grey remembered something essential as she shrieked.
"What?" Giselle asked, worried if her sister has done something else.
"Is your sister, a basketball player?" Lillian asked hurriedly.
Throughout the whole time, it was in her mind.
Giselle flickered from the sudden interrogation. She sighed.
"No,"
Lillian Grey's jaw dropped from the answer.
"But, she is an athlete, does a lot of jumps- high jumps, triple jump, long jump, also, she competes in triathlon race every year."
Only after this explanation did Lillian's face went back to its natural state.
'No wonder, she looks so sporty. d.a.m.n, I guess she's Sparta too!' - Lillian noted.
"You thought she got so tall from playing basketball?" Giselle teased.
"No!"
"She was tall even as a kid, so I get why you feel like that. People used to ask me if I'm into sports because of her, but no, I don't do that. As a kid, my sister would often go out and play while I sit and read books."
"She never changed all this time," Giselle remarked.
"You didn't change either. You still love to read books."
Lillian's comment surprised Giselle.
Thinking about it, Giselle didn't change too because one of Lillian Grey and Giselle's favorite time pa.s.sing is to visit the local library to read novels and storybooks.
"Now, your job is to educate me,"
"Come, let's continue eating," Lillian spoke without habitually.
Giselle got confused for a second before laughing out loud.
Remembering her words, Lillian appeared embarra.s.sed.
"Hah you're smiling, well," she giggled along with Giselle.
Soon, the girls returned to studying.
