I Decided to Start Cooking Since I Found Out the Losing Potion was Soy Sauce
Chapter 65: Did You Get Everything?「Oh, Rofas-san, there was something I wanted to ask you. Can wind magic stones remove air?」
「Air? What's that?」
How do I explain air? Um, you can't see it, but it's there…
「How should I explain it? It's like this, huu…」
I blew out some air.
「Like the air in your mouth… I guess, it's like the original form of wind? Can that be done?」
「I think so, right, Bryce?」
「Yes.」
I see, so it does.
When I think about it, although this world didn't have words for things like the temperature of water, for example 63 degrees, we could still communicate the concepts through the magic stones.
「Can you please get me something that can seal things tightly, and a wind magic stone as well!」
I asked Rofas-san.
「Yeah, sure. Give me a second.」
Rofas-san stood up, patted my head, and then left the hut. He came back a few minutes later.
「How many do you need?」
He was holding several pots with lids of various sizes.
「Just one is enough. I wanted to do an experiment…」
Since I had no guarantee that it would succeed.
I washed one of the pots well, and placed three pieces of kakuni inside.
「Remove the air inside and stay in a constant vacuumed state.」
I asked the wind magic stone. Then, I placed it into the pot and sealed it with the lid.
「What did you ask for? What's constant vacuumed state?」
「I'll explain it if it works.」
I said, attempting to dodge the conversation.
See, I was curious as to whether I could preserve food by vacuum sealing it, like those commercially packaged food.
However, I wasn't sure if a wind magic stone could manipulate the air. If it could, it should be able to remove the air, creating a vacuumed state.
…Probably.
Since I wasn't making it move a lot of air, the wind magic stone should last longer as well, but… To make the dry meat, the wind magic stone lasts for about half a day in constant use inside of the storage, so…
Wait, wasn't it similar to a battery? The more you use it, the faster it's used up, right?
Hmm, there's just so much I still don't understand. In any case, I listened closely to the pot, and could hear a faint sound come from it. Let's use this sound as a reference.
If it works, then even without a fridge, we can vacuum seal the food. Hehehe. Hurray for retrot food!
And so, we finished eating breakfast, with lots of standing and moving.
I probably should've told everybody to stay seated and finish their meals, and to leave everything for later. But I couldn't.
After all, Rofas-san and Bryce-kun were going to leave the hut. There's no "later" for them.
That's right, once we finished eating, there was only a little bit of time left.
The cart was outside.
Rofas-san loaded up their luggage naturally, like he was used to it.
Bryce-kun threw a bag onto his back and went outside as well.
「Well then. Kirika, Kurtz, make sure you teach Yuuri-san all about the dungeon rules, okay?」
「Yeah, leave it to us.」
「That's right. Kirika will teach onee-chan the dungeon rules, and she'll teach Kirika how to cook. Kirika will work hard.」
Bryce-kun patted Kirikchan and Kurtz-kun's head.
I wish we could all stay together. It's hard to say goodbye.
「Yuuri-san… Please take good care of them.」
Of course, I said, and nodded.
Although I don't understand how things work in this world, and my level is lower than everybody else's, I am older than most of them… Well, whether I am trustworthy is a different story though… uu.
「Did you get everything?」
Did you get your handkerchief? How about paper to blow your nose on?
I was about to ask them those questions, but realized that those were normal for j.a.pan, and so I stopped myself.
I'm not used to sending people off, after all. I didn't know what I should be saying…
「Ah! I forgot something! Yuuri, did you make a list of what you wanted me to buy?」
Eh?
「Oh! Yes!」
Although I was the one who asked if they forgot anything, it was me who forgot!
Sigh, that's really embarra.s.sing.
But still, thank goodness that Rofas-san remembered.
Author's Notes:
Thank you for reading, as always.
I thought I made updates, but it turns out it didn't work. How scary.
