Mu Rulan walked over to her display and admired her cute puppets. After a while of that, she took out her phone to charge it – it had been off the entire night, so she had several missed calls and unread texts, most of them from Mu Rulin and Mu Rusen. But there was also one from Tias.h.i.+ Niangzi.
She responded to Tais.h.i.+ Niangzi's text and invited her to lunch at Loulan Court.
She put her phone aside and took out a draft of a puppet from her stack of test papers and pulled out a clean sheet of paper, taking a pencil and eraser from her case to start to draw.
Mm, she needed to remember this time that the angle of the left and right legs should be offset by 6 degrees. And the puppet this time around was a little too gorgeous. Using only seven needles wouldn't be enough, since the arm had already used five. It looked like she would need to prepare other tools as well.
It was quite challenging to ensure the bones would break nicely into sections. She couldn't use a hammer or the bone would be crushed to pieces. If she were to grab the two joints and break the middle first, that didn't seem very likely to end well either.
It looked like she would need to recalculate. She would feel sad if these were damaged.
The two young boys slept comfortably until noon, waking up to the sound of water coming from the bathroom.
Mu Rulan blearily scratched his head as he kicked Mu Rusen. "You didn't turn off the water again…"
Mu Rusen regularly forgot to turn off the water when he went to the restroom in the middle of the night. He really thought he had forgotten once again to turn it off so he got off the bed to pull at the handle of the bathroom –
He couldn't turn the handle. Translated by The Novelst
The bathroom was locked.
Mu Rusen was shocked.
Mu Rulin had also frozen on the bed.
They both finally recovered.
This was not their room but Mu Rulan's!
Mu Rusen's hand was still on the handle, his eyes widening.
Through the frosted gla.s.s door, he couldn't see clearly inside, but he could see a figure moving faintly around. The lithe figure of a girl's body was shrouded in the vapor…
Mu Rusen's entire body stiffened up. He was unable to keep his eyes from following that shadow as two lines of blood dripped slowly from his nose.
"Ah Sen…" Mu Rulin noticed something was off. Just as he wanted to call Mu Rusen back to bed, the sound of the water came to an abrupt stop. The door opened very suddenly.
Mu Rulan was using a towel to wrap her wet hair up. She was surprised to see Mu Rusen in front of the door before being distracted by the blood making its way down Mu Rusen's face. "Rusen, you have a nosebleed!"
Mu Rusen suddenly recovered his senses. He quickly covered his nose and hurried back a few steps. His eyes darted everywhere except for Mu Rulan as his face turned red.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, he's probably overheated. I'll ask the kitchen to make something to help him cool down later," Mu Rulin said, grabbing his gla.s.ses on the bedside.
"Is that so?" Mu Rulan was still worried.
Mu Rulin noticed that and quickly changed the subject. "Sister, when did you get back?"
"I returned in the morning," she said, taking a handkerchief out for Mu Rusen.
Mu Rulin nudged his brother. "You're still bleeding. You're not gonna go clean that off?"
Mu Rusen finally reacted, realizing how silly he probably looked. He ran out quickly, planning on returning later.
Mu Rulin was relieved, turning around to see his sister walking to her bed for the hair dryer.
"I thought you didn't like to blow dry your hair?" He walked closer to her, his gaze greedily taking in Mu Rulan's figure as his lungs filled with her scent. His heart thumped quickly in his chest.
The little devil and little angel on his shoulders were always fighting, but it seemed like the little devil would always come out slightly ahead.
"You're right. I don't usually, but I'm going out for lunch with Niangzi at Loulan Court." Just as she finished speaking, a pair of white hands reached for the dyer.
"I'll help you," said Mu Rulin calmly, patting the bed. "Sit down."
Mu Rulan looked at her empty hands, blinking and sitting down. "Aren't you hungry?"
"No." Mu Rulin turned on the hair dryer and caressed her black hair. The warm air of the hair dryer and the coldness of his fingers greated a kind of hot ice: exactly what he was feeling now.
His sister was kind and angelic. No man could ever deserve her. He wanted her to stay like this: that she would never get married, and he himself would also not look for a woman. Just living together like this, forever. It wasn't totally impossible for siblings to live together like that…
Mu Rulin shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts of evil. What was he thinking? What would others say if they were found out? Though he didn't care about himself, he couldn't just ignore Mu Rulan and be so selfish.
After getting rid of those unnatural thoughts, Mu Rulin continued to focus on drying her hair. On the other hand, Mu Rusen had cleaned his face and come back to the room with wet hair, bringing along another hair dryer.
"Sister, can you dry my hair for me?" Mu Rusen plugged it in and was quick to kneel in front of her, staring cutely up at her.
She took the hair dryer helplessly and Mu Rusen very happily squeezed himself before Mu Rulan. Mu Rulin had no choice but to move aside.
Mu Rulin looked at Mu Rusen from above, his gaze under his gla.s.ses ice cold…
Loulan Court. Translated by The Novelst
Mu Rulan walked in from the parking lot. From a distance she could see a group of people gathered in one area. Someone was definitely causing trouble.
"…Really, that's too much. Don't you think it's natural to apologize after making a mistake? I don't want anything from you except an apology…" Sang Han'er was biting her lips, her eyes red to show how wronged she was.
Tais.h.i.+ Niangzi felt like she was going crazy. She grit her teeth and shouted, "Didn't I already apologize?!"
Sang Han'er felt even more wronged. "You call that an apology? Who apologizes with that kind of att.i.tude? You're not being sincere!"
"The h.e.l.l!" Tais.h.i.+ Niangzi wished for there to be a brick on the ground so she could pick it up to smack this woman with it.
"And you're even scolding me! That's so mean, how can you be like this? If you do wrong, you should just apologize. Why scold the other person?" Sang Han'er was goggling in disbelief.
Tais.h.i.+ Niangzi almost wanted to spit out blood, her fingers twitching and her teeth grinding.
