Chapter 12.2: To the Dragon Palace for a Free Ride

"Have you ever seen me joke with you?" Lan Ze's face immediately turned cold.

Seeing that Lan Ze's face tinged with indignance, the Dragon King quickly said in a shaky voice: "Lord Qilin, the Water Repelling Pearl is the most highly prized treasure to all of us here and it is representative of the Dragon Palace itself. If we are to give it to you, then what about the Dragon Palace?"

Lan Ze curled up one end of his lips in a contemptuous sneer. "Hmph. Of what use is the Water Repelling Pearl to water type spirit beasts like us? What kind of a representative treasure can it be for the Dragon Palace?"

"This….. This….." The Dragon King's face was highly perplexed.

"What? Do you need me to do it myself?"

Lan Ze arched up an eyebrow and the aura of the divine beast flared out in that instant.

The Dragon King almost fell to his knees, his head bathed in cold sweat as he said: "Lord Qilin be appeased. I shall have it retrieved immediately."

Moments later, the Dragon King handed a black wooden block over to Lan Ze.

Lan Ze opened the box and a brilliant blue glow spilled out in an instant.

Lan Ze took out the Water Repelling Pearl and tossed it over to Duanmu Xi.

"Mistress, eat it. It will be useful to you."

[Mistress?]

The Dragon King was overcome with shock once again.

[Lord Qiling had actually become contracted. Just what is going on?]

Although there were a million and one questions in his heart, the Dragon King did not dare to let the words come out of his mouth.

Duanmu Xi nodded her head and ate the Water Repelling Pearl. Her body then glowed with that same brilliant blue light and it took a moment before Duanmu Xi felt that her breathing had become a whole lot smoother.

She no longer felt as if she was in the water but it was as if she was on land.

After Duanmu Xi took the Water Repelling Pearl, Lan Ze then turned to the Dragon King.

"We are going to the Wounded Unicorn Forest….."

"I'll take you there."

Before Lan Ze was able to finish, the Dragon King quickly interjected.

"Mm."

Lan Ze nodded, and gave the Dragon King a appreciative glance.

The Dragon King then turned himself into an enormous golden dragon, and carried Duanmu Xi and Lan Ze to the edge of the Wounded Unicorn Forest.

Lan Ze patted the Dragon King appreciatively on the shoulder. He then took out a water drop shaped jade pendant and handed it over to the Dragon King.

"Seeing that you've performed so well, I'll give you this talisman. If you come to encounter any problem, crush the talisman and I'll come to help you."

"Thank you Lord Qilin."

The Dragon King accepted the jade pendant in delight, thanking Lan Ze profusely.

Keeping the jade pendant safely away, the Dragon King then turned to Duanmu Xi and clasped his fingers over his fist. "How should I address this Lord here?"

"Duanmu Xi." Duanmu Xi answered with a polite nod.

"Lord Xi." The Dragon King bowed again, and then pulled out a storage ring to give to Duanmu Xi. "This is just a small token of appreciation and I beg that Lord Xi will accept it."

"This, I cannot accept it….."

Duanmu Xi looked at the storage ring and immediately shook her head, wanting to refuse.

"Believe me. My Lord will come to need it."

The Dragon King said with a meaningful glance towards the ill fitting clothes on Duanmu Xi's body.

Understanding the Dragon King's meaning, Duanmu Xi's eyes flashed with a glint and she nodded her head lightly. "I must then thank the Dragon King."
