Chapter 67
Chapter 67 – Greedy Little Silver Wolf

Lin Feng wasn’t paying attention and he didn’t understand, but looking at the s.p.a.ce in the apocalypse watch, he couldn’t help but be wide eyed and stare.

Apart from the money in his bank account, Lin Feng had more a thousand white crystals in his watch in case he needed medicine from the supermarket system. Unexpectedly, Lin Feng found that around a fifth of his crystals were missing. *1*

Next to the pile of white crystals, Lin Feng found the little wolf laying down with its paws in the air. Its belly was extended and it gave the occasional burp.

The little wolf ~ ate his crystals!

Looking at his now smaller pile of crystals, Lin Feng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He didn’t think that the wolf would be able to eat crystals.

Lin Feng took the wolf from the apocalypse watch and found that it was still asleep. He grabbed the wolf by the ears and it opened its eyes with a confused expression.

Lin Feng suddenly noticed that compared to when it entered the watch s.p.a.ce the wolf was bigger. He wondered if eating the crystals caused the wolf to get grow.

Seeing Lin Feng the wolf shook its head, losing its sleepy appearance and became excited. It wagged its tail and started to circle him. Lin Feng couldn’t tell if it was happy to see him or if it was because it was able to eat so many crystals instead.

It ate two hundred white crystals all at once, how much does it need to eat? For example, with Lin Feng’s cultivation he was able to absorb about twenty white crystals in a day, but the wolf ate over two hundred of them. Lin Feng didn’t know if the wolf was able to digest that much energy.

This was only a concern because the wolf met Lin Feng. If it were anyone else, it would be questionable if they would even be able to afford feeding this little wolf.

Luckily, the dark yellow crystals that Lin Feng placed in the watch s.p.a.ce were not eaten by the wolf. Regarding the zombies that were killed earlier, when it safe Lin Feng collected the crystals in their brains. He currently had twenty-two light yellow crystals from 2nd cla.s.s zombies and five dark yellow crystals.

Lin Feng could detect the cultivation of those that weren’t too much stronger than him, but he actually couldn’t tell the cultivation of the little silver wolf. Before, the wolf that saved him should be at least a 3rd level savage beast as even 3rd cla.s.s zombies fled from it. Since the little wolf was so similar to the big wolf that, even if it wasn’t dangerous now, it should at least grow up to be a 3rd level savage beast. Even though Lin Feng couldn’t tell its rank, seeing how it ate two hundred crystals was already scary enough.

Now Lin Feng didn’t dare put the wolf back in the watch s.p.a.ce, and it wasn’t that Lin Feng was a miser and loved his money. He had over 100,000 white crystals in his account and a couple hundred of them was like pocket change at this point. He was afraid that if the wolf ate anymore that there would be adverse effects.

Lin Feng took a laser tripwire*2* from the apocalypse watch, a device with an alarm*3* and eight probes, an inexpensive device that any mercenary team with twenty crystals could afford.

Those that traveled alone didn’t dare to sleep in the wild. Those that slept in the wild were part of a mercenary group that hunted zombies, as after three years in the apocalypse the number of zombies near bases had gone down. Those that wanted to hunt zombies had to hunt farther away and typically stayed out for a few days and slept in the wild.

Surviving in

the apocalypse, it is a given that it would be difficult. Things like meeting high-cla.s.s zombies in the wild is unavoidable, and groups that encounter a high-cla.s.s zombie and can’t escape will perish. Gaining crystals required risks to be taken.

Nights in the wild are the most dangerous, though. During the day you at least can see, but at night no one dared to light a torch as it would attract zombies.

Just about all mercenary teams that stayed in the wild carried a laser tripwire. Even though it is considered an anti-theft measurement, it is meant for zombies. If zombies started to encroach on a camp the tripwire would give an alarm and tell the camp that they was danger.

Putting the alarm in the cave and placing the laser probes right outside the entrance, the laser tripwire was successfully installed. The device was solar powered, wireless and used infrared lasers. If a zombie or savage beast approached and broke the beams from the lasers, the user would know, greatly improving the safety of sleeping in the wild.

After installing the alarm, Lin Feng entered the supermarket, ready to eat.

Since he knew that taking items out of the supermarket had a limit, Lin Feng ate inside the supermarket. *4*

Treating the supermarket as his kitchen, Lin Feng grabbed some noodles *5* and headed to the processing facility. The electricity in the supermarket seemed to be unlimited, as all the lights stayed on until now, and the circuits still powered the machines.

In an electric cooker Lin Feng cooked the noodles with some vegetables and opened up some canned food. This was his dinner. It wasn’t that Lin Feng wasn’t willing to eat some healthy food, but after a long day of fighting, even though he was a cultivator, Lin Feng was tired and wanted to eat something simple. Lin Feng wasn’t like other people in the apocalypse and didn’t have to worry about his clothing or food, but he didn’t feel the need to eat extravagantly everyday.

Lin Feng thought about giving the wolf some canned beef, but thinking about how she ate so many crystals, Lin Feng gave up that idea.

After eating, Lin Feng left the supermarket and found a nice place to sleep in the cave.

In fact, Lin Feng could sleep in the supermarket and then go out and continue searching for the devil’s snare. However nighttime in the wild was exceptionally dangerous, so Lin Feng decided to stay for the night and wait for the safety of day.

Seeing that he was going to sleep, the little wolf headed over, put its head on Lin Feng’s shoulder and started to snore.

This little s.h.!.+t can really eat and sleep! *6*

Seeing the little wolf sleep, Lin Feng smiled and closed his eyes.

In the Tian Heng mountains, it begins to cool as the day turns to night. The crescent moon illuminating the sky as the autumn winds gently rustle the leaves.

Lin Feng gently falls asleep and dreams about what he might encounter in the days to come.  *7*

Check *7* only if you want a cliff

~ unexpectedly

*1* raw just says “1”, but later says 200 were missing from the 1000, so I wrote one fifth missing.

*2* tripwire instead of anti-theft device, unless you call zombies life stealers

*3* alarm instead of engine or processor, as neither is appropriate for an alarm.

*4* there is another line here saying the same thing differently

*5* should be rice noodles

*6* actually  guy, kid, chap, pet

this is a cliff, you have been warned

*7*

“There Lin Feng laid, unaware of the figure illuminated by the moon that slowly approached the cave”
