And yet, and yet, my brothers, the end is beautiful, more beautiful even than the beginning. G.o.d has made the day's death to be exceeding fair.

The sun pa.s.ses gloriously to its rest. Hopefully too, for, pa.s.sing thus, it promises a new and fairer morning. So do G.o.d's children die.

PRAYER

O Lord our G.o.d, who hast written Thy Word of hope and promise in the evening sky, be near us when our day is done, and the wind has fallen silent, and the night is waiting. Put us to sleep in a chamber of peace whose windows open toward the sun rising, and, when we awake, may we be still with Thee. For Jesus' sake. Amen.
