Chapter 3: Fury

“My name is Ai Hui and I am sixteen years old this year. I am really glad to be with everyone here in this cla.s.s, please take care of me.” Ai Hui softened his voice as much as he could while standing on the platform. He secretly reminded himself that this wasn’t the Savage Territories.

He didn’t feel any danger when taking in every inch of his surroundings. After he finished introducing himself, Ai Hui lept down the platform in an uncultured fas.h.i.+on.

Shocked about how much older Ai Hui was, the students below clamored with noise.

“You could be admitted into the Induction Ground at such an old age? Also, his name is a bit weird.”

“Probably from Old Earth…”

Upon seeing this, Master Xu, who was beside the platform gently coughed: “The following students do not need to be this brief, introduce yourself a little more so you can let your fellow students know you more.”

Ai Hui, who returned back to his seat, breathed in a sigh of relief. Compared to being in battle, the scene before him left him even more bewildered.

Sensing his own aura in chaos, he slowly breathed in and out, and the unease gradually disappeared as his body was once more restored to its top condition.

The current Ai Hui appeared to be exceptionally calm. n.o.body in this entire school knew that this deeply tranquil, like water, young man was actually a ferocious beast in hibernation that was able to break out with astonis.h.i.+ng strength at any time.

Living three years in the Savage Territories had left too much of a mark.

For example, the position of the seat he choose.

He sat in the seat beside the window. The vision outside the window was clearly visible, and he could guard against any surprise attacks that came from outside the window. If the surprise attack came from inside the school building, he could immediately leap out and take shelter.

Even observation. He could secretly survey everything; from the teacher on top of the platform, to the surrounding students, to the school building’s structure, to the seating arrangements, and so on. Often times, these details that didn’t seem to be quite necessary would determine your life and death. Never think that you have too much information.

He never deliberately did those things, for all these naturally came to him.

There were two hundred students in this cla.s.s, and it could be seen that they were all quite young from their immature and tender faces. Some of these fellows were dressed really splendidly with arrogant expressions; they ought to be from influential families. Only one left an impression on Ai Hui, and it was the n.o.ble young master who rode on that quality Flame Floating Cloud which he and Fatty saw outside the great door.

Duanmu Huanghun looked to be a bit arrogant, his strength was alright, so Ai Hui kept a watchful eye on him.

That guy had been appointed cla.s.s president. What the heck is a cla.s.s president? The army’s leader? An arrogant person being the leader isn’t really a good thing, thought Ai Hui, with a detached point of view.

However, this wasn’t really related to him in anyway.

Unfortunately, Fatty had not been appointed to his cla.s.s.

Thinking about that, Ai Hui felt a little regretful.

But in the next second, these regrets were shattered by Master Xu, replaced by a torrential fury and boundless killing intent.

“Coming up next, I’d like to tell everyone about the Induction Ground’s charging standards. The Urban District’s school buildings all charge a fee. I believe everyone can feel that the elemental energy concentration there is denser. One would have better results in that kind of environment. The standard fee for a single room there is 50,000 yuan per year. Aside from this, we also prepared an even more luxurious dormitory that has nine times the amount of elemental concentration than the outside which costs 700,000 yuan. Those who meet those conditions may consider them. Now, let’s talk about meals. The meals within the grounds are quite cheap. Every day’s standard meals are 200, which includes breakfast…”

Ai Hui’s cheek clearly throbbed slightly. He didn’t listen to what was said next. He did his best to control his expression, but the fury in his head had almost made him boil as his clenched fists below the table almost bursted with blue veins.

The Induction Ground covered both room and board? Ha! Ha!

Why didn’t he chop that blasted fatty into bits during the enrollment?

On top of the platform, the teacher unceasingly babbled as his spittle splattered across the blackboard like little sparkles of the word “money.”

For a full half an hour! This guy was still introducing the fees! Suddenly, Ai Hui felt the urge to kill Master Xu. Master Xu, who was on the platform was like a wild beast that had recently threatened him. Oh, no, like a wild beast that had a blood feud with him!

Ai Hui narrowed his eyes as his gaze became intensely cold. Heh heh, like all those uncountable wild beasts that he had ended.

An hour pa.s.sed…

Ai Hui’s fury had nearly dissipated and the deep cold gaze had slacken to become lifeless. He felt like he was going to die, and it was going to be by the most tragic of methods.

At the moment, his heart was full of an urge to turn around and flee back to the Savage Territories.

The ice cold, harsh Savage Territories in which danger lurked on every side. Those savage beasts with thick sets of ivory fangs and b.l.o.o.d.y eyes were now gentle and adorable in Ai Hui’s heart.

Shouldn’t that be the Induction Ground’s true appearance? In fact, the Induction Ground was a place several hundred times more dangerous than the Savage Territories!

Master Xu was finally satisfied and stopped: “Those who have come from Old Earth, should have received a sum of money after going through the apt.i.tude evaluation. That sum is for everyone to live out their daily school life with content.”

He had not pa.s.sed any apt.i.tude evaluation…

Ai Hui’s eyes lifelessly looked at the teacher.

“Of course, that sum is barely enough to meet your basic needs. If you all wish to obtain more resources and chances, than you must work even harder. The Induction Ground has a total of seventy six cities with a great amount of work opportunities and daily a.s.signments whose rewards would allow you to accordingly make some pocket money. I’d like to remind all of you here that everyone’s main a.s.signment in the Induction Ground is to study and train, not make money. You all should not waste too much time on the aforementioned so as to not delay your training, for what you will gain shall not make up for what you would have lost.”

At this moment, Ai Hui heaved a sigh of relief in his heart. Thank G.o.d there was a way out. The happiness he felt with his new lease of life was as though he had just escaped a tiger’s den. Unwittingly, his forehead unexpectedly had an additional layer of fine sweat.

After wiping the tiny beads of sweat off his forehead, the danger levels of the Induction Ground had immediately risen in Ai Hui’s heart!

Master Xu distributed a thick pile of papers. It had the school timetable, a map of the nearby places, a work list, an a.s.signment list, accommodation standards, a list of their current city’s restaurants, routes to every other cities, and more. They were all exceptionally detailed.

“Everyone will have three days to arrange their own lodgings. After three days, we will begin cla.s.ses. Remember, Introduction to Elemental Power is not included in our lectures. If you have not learned the basic fundamentals, you may all self-study in the library or visit Master Dong’s Introductory Course. You may now leave.”

Ai Hui looked for Master Xu’s Introduction Course on the school timetable and circled it. It was a cla.s.s that he had to listen to.

However, the problem in which he had to resolve the most was money. He was penniless at the moment, and didn’t even have the money to buy lunch.

He sat perfectly upright as his keen gaze quickly swept the papers in his hands. What he paid attention to first was the line “covers all three meals”. There were quite a few of them, so Ai Hui let out a breath of relief. His fingertips followed along each and every line on the list. Then, his thin, white fingers suddenly stopped.

His gaze that was as sharp as swords scattered, becoming deeply introverted, and he was a bit lost in thought.

With one hand holding onto his worn cloth bag and the other clutching his map, he left the school building just like that after casually pulling out a stalk of wild gra.s.s from the road and putting it in his mouth.

There was an unfamiliar street and shop in front of him as various kinds of things that he had never seen before zipped by his side and over his head. The surrounding pedestrians had discussions about topics that he did not understand.

Ai Hui discovered that he could calmly gaze at every strange thing in front of him.

Even after three years in the Savage Territories, his strength could still not be considered to be powerful, but his heart was many times stronger than it was previously. He was brave enough to live alone in this world, brave enough to confront the unknown and strangeness of the world, and this was not easy.

This was probably what growing up meant, and growing up faster than others was not a bad thing.

He smirked at himself. Since he had come out from the Savage Territories, he had also become even more depressing. With the worn cloth bag over his shoulder as he chewed on the wild gra.s.s, he looked at the map and walked forward with his shadow under the sunlight while advancing towards his goal.

Luckily, the place wasn’t too hard to find. The Commission Hall was located at the city’s center and was extremely eye-catching.

“You are truly going to accept this commission?” The old man issuing the commission kindly reminded him: “The Training Hall area is not that small, and the daily management’s workload isn’t easy. Truthfully speaking, I never expected that there would actually be someone who would accept this kind of commission these days. The Training Hall’s owner had not returned in twenty years, and before he left, he deposited a sum into our bank account. Until we used up all of the money, we would always help him issue the same commission every year. However, you do know that this commission’s reward is from the standard twenty years ago? Since ten years ago, there was no one who would accept it. Let me remind you, the reward is really low, and is barely enough for you to have a meal. Are you sure that you want to accept this commission?”

Instead of replying to the question, Ai Hui asked a question instead: “May I get a portion of the reward money in advance?”

The old man immediately understood Ai Hui’s situation and nodded: “Yes. But let me remind you, if you accept this commission, as long as you have not left the Induction Ground, you will not be able to rescind from this commission. Do you need more time to think this over?”

Ai Hui answered with extreme calm: “I accept.”

“Very good.” The old man quickly walked him through the formalities: “That place is quite s.p.a.cious, so you can save a bit of lodging expenses. The portion of the advance payment of the reward has already been put into your card. This is the key, and the address is up here. Now, welcome to the Induction Ground.”

Ai Hui expressed grat.i.tude from his heart as he earnestly saluted in courtesy: “Thank you so much!”

“What a polite child.” The old man revealed a smile: “Good luck on your training, strength is everything.”

Sensing the other party’s goodwill, Ai Hui unskillfully, yet tried his best to return the smile: “I will.”

The heart will never panic with money in hand; that was indeed a wise saying. Ai Hui felt really good at the moment, and the world had even became a bit more beautiful.

Those strange things on the streets had also suddenly become extremely interesting. Ai Hui felt that he was like a tourist as he looked at everything with complete curiosity.

A bulky, huge, Three-leaf Vine Cart swept past the top of his head, and he couldn’t help but stop to raise his head.

Suspended under the clover was a huge vine cage. Several vine chairs were arranged within its interior, and it was jam packed with pa.s.sengers. In front of the vine cart was a rainbow cradle whose vines intertwined and grew to form the words “Green Hill City”. Even from far away, one would be able to see it.

In the Savage Territories, Ai Hui had seen the Three-leaf Vine Cart before, but it was far cruder than this one’s; not only that, the vine cage was in every color that it stung the eyes, and also resembled a monster. The Three-leaf Vine Cart was typically used to transport goods in the Savage Territories, but there weren’t too many of them. It was a very dangerous job, for the Savage Territories’ birds were unusually fierce and fearfully strong.

Those training in the wood element had a relatively low enthusiasm for fighting, and they prefer to stay far behind the front lines.

But seeing the Three-leaf Vine Carts everywhere in sight had still allowed Ai Hui to sense the Induction Ground’s flouris.h.i.+ng bustle. Even the elemental levels that his heart deemed to be too high to reach could also been seen here.

After seeing the Three-leaf Vine Cart go into the distance, he withdrew his gaze and continued onward.

Not long after, he finally found the alley in which the Training Hall was located. According to the map, the Training Hall was right at the end of this alley.

Entering the deep quiet alley was like entering a different world. A simple yet desolate feeling involuntarily arose in his heart. The building all around him were extremely old-fas.h.i.+oned, and it was easy to see that they were aged with just one look.

Suddenly, Ai Hui stopped in his tracks.
