VOLUME 8 CHAPTER 6: DON’T TELL ME THIS IS ON THE WAY TO JIANGXIA (2)

Liu Bei POV

It was now in the evening and we set up camp on the spot after cleaning up the battlefield. The reason why we didn’t advance any further was because the troops were exhausted after travelling and the battle, and because we received word from the frontlines that the situation wasn’t as critical as initially thought and we had the time to rest up before joining up with Jiangxia.

And so, with this in mind, Liu Qi and I decided to give the troops half a day’s worth of rest after the battle and only advance the next day after a good night’s rest.

Presently, I was with my companions at the brazier as we went through the battle today.

“Earlier today, I led my troops to the eat, and we would completely surrounded those d.a.m.ned robbers within 15 minutes if we did as I ordered. But I never thought that those lazy a.s.ses were so tardy, and even seemed unhappy about taking orders from me. “Chen Gong, you’re getting too agitated. They aren’t our troops so not accepting our orders is natural. Try and get along with them for now.” I felt that Chen Gong’s complaints were fair but I had no choice but to placate her for now since, as I said, they weren’t our troops.

“Let’s stop talking for now and eat first.” Just then, Chen Dao came back with 4 wooden bowls and pa.s.sed 1 to each of us.

“Here, this is yours, my lord.”

“Eh! Why does our lord’s bowl have roast meat! Ours only has dried meat!” Zhou Cang looked over, and immediately spotted the difference between our bowls, and yelled out roughly in a manner that was at odds with how she looked.

“Lord Zhou Cang, our lord has been labouring all day and nearly died after falling from his horse so he should eat some meat to recover. Be more sensible!”

“Chen Dao, Chen Dao, I’m fine.” I said as I took my meat and gave some to each of them, “Come, everyone should eat too. Today’s been hard on everyone after all.”

“Aiyaya! My lord, you… I, Chen Dao, will fight to my last drop of blood to make sure my lord returns safely!”

Chen Dao, that’s a little too much. Why do you always have to exaggerate things that much?”

“Meat, fresh meat~ Thank you my lord. My lord is the best.” Zhou Cang’s att.i.tude completely changed, and she even addressed me as lord instead of Imperial Uncle. Isn’t she a little too easy to trick?

I thought that Chen Gong who was silently eating until now wasn’t paying too much attention to us but then I heard her utter a single word disdainfully. I looked and saw that she was trying to lift up her b.r.e.a.s.t.s with 1 hand with an angry expression on her face. Of course, she doesn’t have much she can lift up.

Looks like most women are rather concerned with that, apart from some obtuse ones.

“What is everyone discussing?”

Just then, a floating and gentle voice came from behind. If you only listened to the voice, you might have thought that it came from a deity

But that was clearly impossible, and I was actually rather familiar with that voice.

I turned around, and saw a girl wearing long robes with a bagua motif staring straight into my eyes.
