International airports usually have places to exchange money, and Tan Rou found one according to the signs. However, the machines here didn’t seem very secure; there were people everywhere, and it didn’t feel safe at all.

Tan Rou used her body to s.h.i.+eld her wallet and then took out a stack of bills from inside. After exchanging the money, she immediately stuffed the new bills into her bag.

There were quite a few people sneaking peeks at her, but Tan Rou pretended not to notice. She walked towards the restroom, and a few women followed her there.

Once in the restroom, she simply opened her bag and took out a one-hundred-dollar bill. Then she quickly stuffed the rest of the money into the travel bag worn on her back.

When she was about to exit, a young girl with dyed gray hair and three earrings in one ear stopped her. The girl asked with a grin, “Hey, beauty, which country are you from?”

Tan Rou acted as if she didn’t understand, showing a puzzled expression. She then spoke in a very obscure language, “Where I’m from is none of your concern. Don’t block my way.”

The young girl naturally couldn’t understand Tan Rou, but she thought Tan Rou was asking why she was blocking her. So, she explained eagerly, “I just saw you withdraw a lot of money from the ATM, which isn’t a good thing. How about you hand the money over, and I’ll keep it safe for you?”

Tan Rou smiled, thinking to herself that this person sure had a way with words, making robbery sound so righteous. If she were a fool, she probably would have handed over the money obediently.

Though she was cursing inwardly, Tan Rou’s face didn’t show any sign of it. She kept up her puzzled look and continued speaking in the language the other couldn’t understand, “If I gave you the money, I’d be the real fool. Are there so many criminals these days? If not thieves, then robbers, and what’s next? Terrorists throwing bombs in a little while?”

The would-be robber couldn’t comprehend Tan Rou’s speech and continued, “Don’t be nervous, just give me all the money in your bag, and I promise I’ll let you go safely.” She finished speaking and pointed at Tan Rou’s bag.

“Why are you wasting your breath on her?” Another girl emerged, not only with earrings but also a lip piercing, looking fierce. “Hey, little girl, just hand over the money. As long as you give it to us, we won’t harm you,” she said.

Tan Rou felt somewhat speechless. Had these people not realized yet that she couldn’t understand them?

“Does she not understand what we’re saying?” The first girl who attempted the robbery realized the issue and then asked, “Hey, can you speak her language?”

The other girl, growing impatient, said, “Stop talking nonsense, just grab the money and run. I haven’t eaten all day, and I’m going to starve if we don’t get some money soon.”

Then, she tried to s.n.a.t.c.h Tan Rou’s wallet.

Tan Rou dodged her attack with a swift move and taunted them in the language they were speaking, “You aren’t even fit to be robbers. I can’t understand a word you’re saying. How do you expect to ask me for money?”

The robbers were furious. “You understand what we’re saying?”

Tan Rou smiled and said, “Not only do I understand, but I also speak it… Help, there’s a robbery happening here!”

After shouting a couple of times, Tan Rou ran towards the outside of the restroom, looking back and making faces at them while she ran, “You guys have such short legs, you can’t catch up to me. If you want to be robbers, you should learn a few more languages before you try again, lest you rob someone who doesn’t understand what you’re saying.”

The robbers were truly enraged now and didn’t care where they were anymore; they pounced towards Tan Rou.

Tan Rou got outside the restroom, looked up at the surveillance camera with a smile, and said, “Watch carefully, this is self-defense.”

As the robbers all rushed out together, Tan Rou shouted in an internationally understood language, “There’s a robbery!”

Only after drawing everyone’s attention did she take action to subdue the robbers. She was very fast, handling each one with a couple of swift moves.

After knocking several people to the ground, Tan Rou stepped back a few paces in fright. “That scared me to death. These two blocked the restroom door and demanded money from me. When I refused, they tried to hit me. It was utterly terrifying,” she said.
