Chapter 38.1 - Firearm training
T/N: A huge thank you to my supporters, and particularly Lolilu and s.h.i.+hane for helping reach the ko-fi goal. As a token of thanks, over the next 2 weeks I’ll be posting:
- 14 releases of ABV (7 chapters)
- 10 releases of SABL (est. 9-10 chapters)
- 6 releases of IMG (I don’t have any stockpiled ?)
Note that this is in lieu of the normal release schedule for these projects, and I’ll also be ignoring new ko-fis until the 2 weeks are wrapped up.
Thanks again!

In the end, Ludwig agreed to teach Iman how to shoot. After leaving the dungeon, he built a “shooting training ground” room and pulled Iman in. Mo Han also wanted to observe, so he followed Iman into the room. Seeing Mo Han enter, Luo Fei will naturally not be absent.
Frank needed to pick up his girlfriend, so the remaining four entered the shooting training ground together.
In training mode, players can freely choose maps and weapons, and the training ground map is to help novice players adapt to the game as soon as possible.
Ludwig chose the simplest “training room” map, which is about 100 square meters. One wall of floor-to-ceiling gla.s.s makes the whole room bright. There are ten rings on the shooting target, the outermost ring is 1 ring, and the bullseye in the middle is 10 rings. The position, distance and moving speed of the target can be adjusted.
Ludwig asked, “What kind of gun do you want to practice?”
Iman walked over actively, picked up a sniper rifle, and said, “Can I practice sniping?” After seeing his teammate snipe the snake king from a distance, he felt the feeling of shooting the enemy thousands of miles away is very cool.
Ludwig nodded, “Yes.”
After speaking, he walked behind Iman, stretched out his hand and raised Iman’s arm slightly, correcting the other’s movement: “Raise your arm higher.”
Iman suddenly felt his heart beating faster. The contact in the holographic game was very realistic. He happened to be wearing short sleeves today. When the man held his arm just now, the cool touch from the other’s fingers made Iman feel A momentary loss of consciousness. The man’s voice was still as cold as ice, and there was no expression on his face, but the moment he was touched by the other party, Iman was a little distracted. Looking at him closely, he felt that this man was ridiculously handsome, and his facial features were so exquisite that there were almost no flaws.
And the man’s aloof and abstinent temperament is particularly attractive.
Finding that Iman was distracted, Ludwig frowned slightly, and said, “Concentrate.”
Iman’s heart beat faster, and immediately took a deep breath to stabilize his mind, followed his instructions and said, “Is that so?”
The other party’s deep and pleasant voice came from the ear: “Well, first open the scope to observe the target, aim at the bull’s-eye in the distance and then shoot.”
Iman did as he said, squinting his eyes for a long time, and then said, “The target is too high. When I raised my head to aim, my neck feels a little sore.”
Ludwig: “…”
It’s not that the target is too high, it’s that you are short.
Ludwig adjusted the height of the target expressionlessly so it was eye level with Iman, and said, “Try again.”
Iman nodded with a smile, closed one eye and tried hard to aim. After aiming for a while, he felt he was right, and immediately pulled the trigger.
There was a bang, followed by a system reminder: “The bullet missed the target.”
Ludwig: “…”
The target was less than 20 meters away from him, and was eye level. Missing such a close target shows this guy really didn’t know anything about marksmans.h.i.+p.
A good sniper can hit a moving target 100 meters away, but a rookie can’t hit a stationary target 20 meters away…
Ludwig took the gun from Iman and demonstrated calmly. “Open the scope, aim the center of the cross at the bull’s-eye in front, and then shoot.”
A gunshot sounded, and the system prompted: “Ten rings.”
Iman looked at him adoringly. “The tenth ring is the most central point, right? The bullets you fire don’t deviate at all?”
Ludwig handed the gun back to Iman, and said, “At such a short distance, if I even miss a stationary target, it’ll be impossible to pa.s.s the shooting test.”
Iman’s face flushed slightly, and he said, “Oh. Then if I take the exam, I will definitely fail.”
Ludwig: “You can’t even enter the exam room.”
Iman: “……”
Do you have to be so direct?
However, it ignited Iman’s fighting spirit. He suddenly found that the more this cold guy scolded him, the more excited he became. He was also quite confused. Could it be that he is an M and likes the feeling of being blocked and being rendered speechless?
***
Beside them, Mo Han and Luo Fei were sitting in the rest area, watching Ludwig teach Iman how to snipe.
After watching it for a while, Mo Han couldn’t help saying, “I don’t know much about sniper rifles, so I’ll learn by the way.”
He stood up and walked to Iman’s side, and picked up another gun. Luo Fei immediately followed and asked, “Have you ever studied systematically before?”
Mo Han nodded. “Sniper rifles are usually used to attack others while hiding in the dark. In reality, they’re inconvenient to use when someone is really in danger. When I was young, I practiced shooting for self-defense. I learned the most portable ones, like pistols, but my level with other firearms is just average.”
This is also within Luo Fei’s guess.
Mo Han has obviously practiced shooting, but he only uses pistols in the game, and is not very good at a.s.sault rifles, sniper rifles, and other firearms.
Luo Fei smiled and said, “If you’re interested, I can teach you.”
“Okay.” Mo Han nodded.
Luo Fei said, “Why don’t we go out and build another training room.”
Mo Han looked back at him suspiciously: “Isn’t there one right here?”
Luo Fei explained: “It’s too noisy when four people are together. I’ll teach you alone, so you can learn faster.”
At this time, there was a “bang” gunshot. It was Iman who fired the gun, which went sideways. Fortunately, he didn’t miss the target this time, and hit the outermost ring.
Mo Han smiled lightly and said, “Okay, let’s go out.”
So, Luo Fei built another room to pull Mo Han in.
——It’s better alone, Luo Fei doesn’t want to stay in the same training room with Iman and Ludwig.
After Mo Han entered the room, he walked to the shooting stand and picked up a sniper rifle. He saw “Hunter” guiding Iman just now, and mimicking the movements he just saw, he raised the gun according to his memory and asked: “Is my posture correct?”
Luo Fei stood beside him appreciatively. “You’re very smart, learn quickly.”
Mo Han said: “Face the target, then open the scope, aim, and shoot, right?”
Luo Fei nodded: “Yes, give it a try first.”
Mo Han closed his left eye, aimed his right eye at the bull’s-eye, and lightly pulled the trigger with his finger. The bullet was fired, and the system prompted: “9.0 ring!”
Mo Han, who closed one eye and raised his gun to aim at the bullseye seriously, is really good looking. Luo Fei couldn’t look away.
After hitting the 9.0 ring, Mo Han commented calmly, “It’s not difficult.”
He hit a 9.0 ring on his first attempt with a sniper rifle.
Hearing what he said, Luo Fei smiled slightly, and said softly: “You already know the basics of shooting, so it’s not difficult to shoot a stationary target. However, snipers generally have to lie in ambush to snipe at long-distance moving targets. Hitting a moving target at a distance is not easy.”
“That’s true.” Mo Han nodded understandingly. “In actual combat, people will not stand around waiting to be shot.”
Luo Fei said: “There are actually many ways to snipe. Shall I walk you through them?”
“Okay.” Mo Han put down the gun, looked back at the other party, and listened carefully.
Luo Fei adjusted the system in the training room, cleared the stationary shooting targets in front, and set it to the mode of “randomly appearing targets”.
Then he picked up the gun that Mo Han had put down, and explained to Mo Han while demonstrating: “First of all, point-and-shoot sniping is the most common. The sniper occupies a favorable location and aims where enemies might appear. They quietly wait for the enemy to appear, and shoot to kill the target the moment they appear.”
At this time, a shooting target suddenly moved from the right. Luo Fei opened the scope in advance, pre-aimed in the direction where the target might appear, and pulled the trigger decisively at the moment the target appeared.
There was only a “bang” gunshot, and the bullet hit the bullseye exactly – 10 rings!
Mo Han praised: “Excellent.”
This reaction didn’t take more than 1 second, and he shot the target almost as soon as it appeared. Despite it being a moving target, he was able to hit a bullseye!
Luo Fei put down the gun with a smile, and looked back at Mo Han: “Understood? Point sniping means that the sniper waits for the prey in favorable terrain in advance. When playing adventure games, these are locations with a wider view such as rooftops or intersections, allowing them to instantly shoot and kill enemies that appear.”
Mo Han nodded: “Yes, the snipers I’ve seen in the game almost always do that.” He paused and asked, “Are there any other skills?”
Luo Fei said: “There is also flash sniping, which is a telescopic and fast attack method, including flat dodge and squat dodge. Flat dodge generally refers to relatively tall obstacles, such as statues, stone pillars, etc. The sniper hides behind the obstacle and predicts where the enemy appears, and opens the scope to shoot while moving and dodging behind the obstacle. Squat dodge means that when the obstacle is relatively small, such as a broken wall, box, etc., the sniper needs to squat on the obstacle behind the object, stand up to snipe and then squat down immediately. These two techniques are more commonly used in melee.”
Luo Fei explained patiently while quickly demonstrating.
Mo Han stood next to him and studied hard. He found that Mr. F’s shooting skills are indeed professional. Even when he was hiding behind an obstacle, he could shoot a moving target immediately. Moreover, his score was never below the 9.6 ring.
Mo Han tried to follow his movements, but this time he didn’t even hit the target, and hit the wall directly.
The system prompts: “The bullet missed the target!”
A trace of embarra.s.sment flashed in Mo Han’s eyes, but he pretended to be calm and said: “It seems a bit difficult.”
Re: batch updates. Chapter lengths for IMG are inconsistent so it could be 3 chapters or more given that some are double length like this one.
