Chapter 1139: Chapter 1139: Sending to Repair the Reservoir
How could a man be so exquisite, his scent so pleasant?
Zhao Wei’s cheeks flushed red, she gazed adoringly at the man’s firm jaw and s.e.xy Adam’s apple, wis.h.i.+ng she could reach up on her tiptoes and taste it.
Yet she quickly snapped out of her reverie.
Somehow, Zhou Hengguang managed to sidestep and pivot away, abruptly creating distance between himself and Zhao Wei. She fell forward into emptiness, as the body she intended to lean on vanished, landing face-first on the ground in a most graceless manner.
Zhao Wei saw stars from the pain, landing with her lips smack against the floor, immediately chipping a tooth. Her lips swelled up at once, and a large pool of blood formed where she had split open, leaving her in a state of utter disarray.
“It hurts, ouch, ouch, it’s killing me.” What was pretend pain a moment before had now become real.
Zhao Wei’s pitiful screams attracted the looks of disdain from the hall’s attendants and cas.h.i.+ers who had gathered around.
“Ptooey! Shameless, throwing herself at a man’s arms in broad daylight.”
“I bet she just wants to climb up the social ladder.”
“Truly shameless.”
“And here I thought she was an intellectual!”
“Can’t even walk straight at the sight of a handsome man.”
No wonder the staff said such things. From the day Zhou Hengguang first arrived, he became the unreachable idol in everyone’s heart at whirlwind speed.
A handsome man in high position, who wouldn’t like that?
Liking him was normal, but Zhao Wei’s shameless clinging and causing trouble for him was out of line.
If everyone behaved like that, how could he work properly?
Ji Fang was also livid, rus.h.i.+ng to see how Zhou Hengguang was doing, “Deputy Director, are you alright?”
Zhou Hengguang’s face was livid, and the white down jacket he wore was stripped off disdainfully and thrown to Ji Fang. “You can have it.”
“Ah? Okay, thank you, Deputy Director,” Ji Fang said with a bittersweet smile, holding the jacket, not expecting the Deputy Director to be that repulsed.
Zhou Hengguang glanced coldly at Zhao Wei on the ground and commanded in a chilly voice, “Transfer her to work somewhere else. I heard Luo County is building a reservoir and just happens to need a statistician. She’s perfect for the job.”
Ji Fang: “…”
There it was, as expected. It had been only half an hour since it was mentioned, and now it had come true.
“Right! I’ll take care of it immediately.”
Zhao Wei, hearing this, was stunned; however, her split lip was too painful for her to concern herself with anything else.
Meanwhile, others who had returned to their rooms started coming into the hall one after another, and soon, quite a few people were present, none of them speaking. Some who were late and unclear on the details had wanted to plead on Zhao Wei’s behalf, but after asking around among acquaintances, they too felt it inappropriate to comment.
Luo County was the most remote and underdeveloped county in the area, poor and set back in the mountains with poor roads, suffering from drought year after year. During busy farming periods, villages would often fight each other brutally over water resources. To solve the drought problem, the county had tried many solutions and even appealed to higher authorities.
It was said that the state, when building a large cross-river bridge, had specifically sought the project team’s experts, hoping they could help devise a solution for Luo County.
Upon learning the situation, Zhou Hengguang arranged for several experts to go and investigate. When the experts returned, everyone discussed and concluded that to solve the drought problem, a reservoir must be built.
Constructing a reservoir between two mountains would solve the drought and water use issues for nearby eleven counties at once.
When Luo County’s residents learned of the expert group’s suggestion, their jaws dropped. No one could have imagined the experts would propose such a grand plan, to build a reservoir between two large mountains. Using the two mountains as a foundation for construction, the building of the dam would minimize investment to the bare minimum.
