As the uncle spoke, he took a big gulp and finished the last bit of liangpi on the plate. Then, he stood up and took the bagged rice noodles. Anyone could tell if it was more than two kilograms. When he thought it was enough, he gave the money to Xue Sifu along with the money from the liangpi he ate and strode away.
Seeing the uncle leave, Xue Yan stood up to clear the plates and chopsticks, putting them into the basin. Then, he squatted down beside the basin and started to wash the dishes.
There was only a plate and a pair of chopsticks, so Jiang Yue did not need to help wash them. She took a rag and stood on her tiptoes to wipe the table again.
Xue Sifu counted the money he had earned from selling the dried rice noodles and laughed, “I was thinking that we would sell dry rice noodles when we have a proper shop to sell rice noodles in the future. I didn’t expect that someone would buy our dry rice noodles now. I guess it’s just in time to make up for the loss of the number of bowls sold due to the hot weather.”
As he said this, he sat on the folding stool again. “Xue Yan, Jiang Yue, it seems that we have to buy a scale. We need one big and small scale. We can take the small one to town to sell rice noodles, and the big one will be kept at home so that the family can weigh the stock so that I don’t have to go to the village head’s house to borrow the scale.”
