Chapter 253: Beast Taming Pill
Suddenly, Chu Yunfan saw something worm-like coiled under rocks. Upon closer inspection, a look of ecstasy appeared on his face.
This worm-like thing was not a worm at all. Instead, it was a type of medicinal herb called the Heart Conqueror Worm. Very few people knew about this medicinal herb, but he did. This was the main ingredient used in concocting Beast Taming Pills.
Every profession had its own methods of taming monsters. And for alchemists, Beast Taming Pills were the primary method. By relying on these pills and a special seal, an alchemist could gain control of a monster.
According to the age of the Heart Conqueror Worm, the effects of the Beast Taming Pill that was made would differ. Different levels of pills would be used to tame different levels of monsters.
This Heart Conqueror Worm was only thirty years old. It had just matured and could not be made into a particularly good Beast Taming Pill. According to the information in the Alchemy Emperor’s memories, it could not even control an Innate Stage monster. At most, it could only control an Acquired Stage one.
Of course, to the Alchemy Emperor, an Innate monster was nothing. But to Chu Yunfan, an Innate monster was a terrifying existence. Even an Acquired monster was very powerful.
Being hunted by the Monster Cult made Chu Yunfan feel a great sense of danger. If he could tame an Acquired monster, he would definitely be able to gain a huge advantage. The price of a tamed Acquired monster on the market was sky high.
Under the circ.u.mstances where Chu Yunfan’s strength could not advance by leaps and bounds in a short period, this was the fastest way to increase his battle strength.

Chu Yunfan suddenly felt that his situation was about to improve. Because no one knew the effects of the Heart Conqueror Worm, it was almost impossible to buy it on the market even if one wanted to. And now, he had found one in the wild.
Chu Yunfan wanted to immediately go back and tell Xue Bailong about the cult spies, but now he had changed his mind. After he sent word of what had happened, he transplanted the Heart Conqueror Worm into the s.p.a.ce of the Mountain River Diagram.
However, the ingredients needed to make use of a Heart Conqueror Worm were not limited to just this. Other than the Heart Conqueror Worm as the main ingredient, he also needed a large number of other ingredients.
Chu Yunfan recalled some information on the internet that said there were black markets in the wilderness not far from the jurisdiction of the Federation Government. There were no laws or regulations in these black markets. There were often many monster hunters or mercenaries buying goods or selling their spoils from the wilderness here.
Chu Yunfan was currently in the middle of nowhere. He did not know how long it would be before he returned to the city. There was no hope of returning soon either. The only thing he could do was find these black markets and obtain other ingredients to concoct the Beast Taming Pill from there.
However, he was completely clueless about this place. He did not know where these black markets were located because on official maps, these black markets could not exist. Suddenly, he thought of someone and dialed their number.
“Hahaha, now this is rare. Chu, my little friend, why are you calling me?” A burst of hearty laughter rang out as a figure appeared in front of Chu Yunfan. It was Bai Hong the alchemy expert.
Because of the recent launch of the perfect Body Refining Pill at a low price, the company stock prices under Bai Hong’s control had steadily risen. He could not even calculate how much profit he had made. It was like he was. .h.i.tching a ride on the back of a horse.
“Eh? Are you in the wilderness right now?” Bai Hong surveyed the environment around Chu Yunfan.
“Yes, I’m in the wilderness,” Chu Yunfan replied.
“Well, one doesn’t visit the temple when they don’t have prayers that need answering. Whatever you need, feel free to say so,” Bai Hong said.
Chu Yunfan paused for a moment and then said, “I wanted to ask if you have the addresses to the black markets around Calm Ocean City. Please send me a copy.”
The addresses of these black markets would not be found on the Internet, but it did not mean that no one knew about them. With Bai Hong’s power, they should not be difficult to find.
“Piece of cake,” Bai Hong said as he nodded, “I’ll have someone send it to you later. What do you want to buy at the black market? Do you need my help?”
“No need. Just send me the address,” Chu Yunfan said.
“Well, I’ve got good news. The Body Refining Pills are selling very well. You’ll be shocked when you receive the dividends,” Bai Hong said with a big laugh, full of spirit.
“That’s great to hear,” Chu Yunfan said.
After hanging up the phone, Bai Hong sent the addresses and coordinates of the black markets around Calm Ocean City within minutes. There were more than a dozen black markets around the city. These were not things that ordinary people knew. However, it was an easy thing for the big shots to find out.
Chu Yunfan located the nearest black market and rushed over. In just over 20 minutes, he had arrived. The black market was like a huge military fortress. It was not as dilapidated and chaotic as Chu Yunfan had imagined.
After thinking about it, this made sense. These black markets were built in the wild. If not for the military fortress-like configuration, how could it possibly withstand the attacks of the monster swarms again and again?
This caused Chu Yunfan to doubt the information on the internet saying that black markets were formed spontaneously. It was probably not that simple!
This black market was very lively. Many of the people who came and went were valiant figures. With one look, it was obvious that they had gone through a lot of killing to develop these valiant auras.
Chu Yunfan, who looked like a student, appeared very strange amongst the people there. Immediately upon entering the black market, he attracted the attention of many. He ignored these gazes. He first rented a warehouse and placed into it the monster carca.s.ses that had been piling up in the Mountain River Diagram. He then found a merchant who specialized in purchasing the carca.s.ses of these monsters. He sold all of the carca.s.ses to the man.
That merchant was not the least bit suspicious. He only thought that Chu Yunfan was helping a mercenary group deal with these monsters. After all, so many monsters did not look like they could be killed by one person.
The monster carca.s.ses were only sold for three million in the end. It was far from the final price of the Threetail Silver Fox. But that was the price of the monsters. The higher the grade, the higher the price. The quant.i.ty could not make up for quality.
After receiving the money, Chu Yunfan finally had the money to go to the medicinal herbs store to buy the ingredients he needed to concoct the Beast Taming Pill.
