“But I want to help you dig the tunnel,” Qiao Mei said. With her around to help him, the matter of digging a tunnel could be done in minutes.

Even though she would not do it so blatantly that Xia Zhe would discover her abilities, it would definitely shorten the time needed.

“There’s no need!” Xia Zhe looked at Qiao Mei sternly. She had never seen him giving her such a fierce expression before.

“Be good and go home immediately!” Xia Zhe pressed his index finger gently on her lips and continued, “Trust me, I’ll go back safely.”

Seeing his determination, Qiao Mei could only nod in agreement. This time round, she would really cause trouble for Xia Zhe if she continued to stay here.

Xia Zhe looked at her intensely for two seconds before planting a kiss on her lips. Then, he suddenly turned around and left, looking like a warrior going on a path of no return. Qiao Mei stood rooted to the spot for a long time.

Qiao Mei tried to guess the direction that Xia Zhe would aim for. Then, she gently pushed open the window and scattered a handful of seeds outwards. She watched quietly as Xia Zhe knocked out the bodyguards again. Xia Zhe found a few items within Alan’s house and mixed them together. Then, he went to the room next to the study and restored the safe and the wall in a careful and quick manner. No one would see anything unusual with one glance.

Qiao Mei’s eyes widened in surprise. She really admired “professionals” like Xia Zhe for being able to do all kinds of strange things.

By the time all these were done, it was time for Xia Zhe to return to his room to sleep. However, Qiao Mei realized that he did not fall asleep at all but kept looking in the direction of her room. Her heart instantly melted. She silently prayed to the moon and hoped that Xia Zhe would be able to make it home!

The next morning, the bodyguards in Xia Zhe’s room woke up one by one. It was still dark then and there were no lights in the room. Those who woke up first did not realize that the others were also asleep. They were not gathered together and there was some distance between each of them. They were also not standing, but were seated comfortably.

Each person who woke up was dazed for a moment before he immediately went to check if Xia Zhe was still in the room. When the bodyguards realized that Xia Zhe was sleeping soundly in bed, they immediately pretended that nothing had happened last night. If Old Master Alan and Young Master Daniel found out about what they did, they would die a terrible death.

They were really exhausted during this period of time. Ever since Xia Zhe came, they had more work to do. They needed to stand guard during the day per their usual schedule and also needed to watch over him at night, so it was inevitable that they might nod off occasionally.

As Daniel had changed the banquet time to 8 a.m., the butler came to Xia Zhe’s room at dawn.
