“Don’t mind him. He’s a really warm-hearted person. Many soldiers receive help from Zhao Wu when their families back home run into trouble. He’s just doing this because he wants you to eat well here. Don’t take it to heart. If there’s anything you need, you can tell him. He will definitely help you solve all your problems,” Xia Zhe said with a stoic expression.

If Xia Zhe said that Zhao Wu was doing this out of kindness, then what else could Du Jun say? He could only grit his teeth and bear with it. Other than Du Jun, the rest of the soldiers who came with him were given the exact same food as Xia Zhe’s subordinates. They only had a personal grudge against Du Jun and would not take it out on the other soldiers.

He Mei had behaved herself over the past few days. Xia Zhe had also asked around and found out a lot of information. He Mei did not just arrive recently but had been stationed here for a long time. “Commander Xia! Don’t you think that the woman over there is good-looking! Do you want to be with her tonight?” Du Jun whispered into Xia Zhe’s ear.

Xia Zhe frowned slightly. He did not expect Du Jun to be a person who would say such things. It looked like this was not the first time Du Jun had done such a thing. He wondered how many women Du Jun had already harmed previously.

“That’s my friend’s younger sister,” Xia Zhe said.

Du Jun said in shock, “Oh! Is that so! Then forget it. I never expected her to be Commander Xia’s old acquaintance. She’s so beautiful though.”

It was not that Xia Zhe wanted to protect He Mei, but there was no need for him to use such a method to take revenge on a woman. He would only do things that were aboveboard.

After three rounds of drinking, many people got drunk. Xia Zhe continued to sit there expressionlessly. Zhao Wu got drunk and went back to his tent.
