Chapter 450: Happy Postoperative Patients
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
The emergency department’s corridor was filled with people. There were all kinds of complicated smells, painful moans, and emotional family members.
Professor Rudolf Wagner frowned. This kind of medical treatment and environment was unacceptable to him.
Even in Germany, he had to go to the emergency department a few times a year. However, the scene was completely different from the one in front of him now.
He looked around each room before finally finding Zheng Ren in the emergency department’s internal medicine consultation room.
Professor Rudolf Wagner squeezed through the crowd. His long golden hair fluttered in the wind as he said, “Boss…”
“Shut up and wait for me outside.” Zheng Ren was using a stethoscope to listen to the sound of an old man’s lungs. He felt that the professor had interrupted his diagnosis and treatment process so he snapped at him, impatiently chasing him out.
After Zheng Ren left, the aura of the Champion of the Operating Theatre that belonged to Professor Rudolf Wagner disappeared without a trace.
He was like a junior doctor who had made a mistake. He lowered his head and walked out of the consultation room.
Su Yun was looking at the last patient from the side. He gave the patient a checkup list and told Zheng Ren about the patient’s ailments. After that, he left the internal medicine consultation room with a smile.
When he left the room, he saw Professor Rudolf Wagner, Gao Shaojie, and w.a.n.g Qiang standing in the corridor in a daze. The corners of Su Yun’s mouth curved upward into a beautiful smile.
“Lil Fugui, don’t just stand there.” Su Yun smiled and said, “The boss is taking care of the emergency department for a while. When the other doctor comes, he won’t have time to deal with you.”
Professor Rudolf Wagner was very angry. He shrugged his shoulders. Just as he was about to speak, Su Yun said, “Lil Fugui, if you don’t want to make the boss angry, you better not start complaining.”
The professor was stunned for a moment, before feeling dejected.
“You two, go back to where you came from.” Su Yun looked at Gao Shaojie and w.a.n.g Qiang. “Unfortunately, we’re understaffed in the emergency department. The boss wants to help out here.”
Gao Shaojie sighed lightly. He had already made preparations. He did not even care about his own hotel room and slept in Sea City General Hospital.
However, he did not expect to witness a surgery beyond his comprehension. The surgeon had to go out to the emergency department and do something even normal Chief Residents would not do.
At this moment, Gao Shaojie agreed with Professor Rudolf Wagner.
Being at Sea City General Hospital was a waste of Zheng Ren’s G.o.d-given talents!
However, he had no choice. If he rushed in at this time, he would only make Zheng Ren unhappy.
He was a genius among geniuses. It seemed understandable that he would be able to do such an unbelievable thing. How could a genius follow the rules? Perhaps he was just training in the emergency department to gain mortal world experiences.
Gao Shaojie shook his head and said, “May I know your name? ”
“My name is Su Yun. If you want, you can call me Brother Yun. If not, just stick to Su Yun.” Su Yun focused his gaze on Gao Shaojie.
“Oh, Brother Yun, do you have any idea what we should do at the moment?” Gao Shaojie did not care about Su Yun’s rudeness and just asked him that question with great restraint.
Su Yun’s interest was immediately piqued. He said, “You should probably go back to the office and wait. The internal medicine consultation room’s s.h.i.+ft is being handed over soon. The surgery was done too quickly so the doctors who were supposed to come over and help haven’t even completed the handover processes. I reckon that the boss will be able to head back soon.”
“Sorry to trouble you then. I’ll wait in the office,” Gao Shaojie said.
..
..
Zheng Ren looked at the patients one by one. Soon, it was almost ten o’clock.
The internal medicine consultation room doctor was a woman. She was not tall, and her face was dark.
No matter who it was, they would be unhappy if they were sent to the emergency department. Zheng Ren understood her feelings.
After handing over the patients, Zheng Ren was about to leave when a familiar face walked in.
Zheng Ren could not tell who this person was.
However, the System’s panel at the top right of his vision clearly showed a diagnosis of fulva right pneumonia and a large amount of pleural effusion.
This was the patient who said he graduated from Xiamen University yesterday.
Zheng Ren knew that his condition was serious, so he advised him to be hospitalized for treatment. However, he did not expect his condition to worsen so quickly. In just one day, the amount of pleural effusion increased by a large amount.
From the looks of it, the inflammation was very serious and there was a lot of leakage.
The patient did not have the strength to thump his chest like yesterday. He was dispirited, his lips slightly cyanotic.
“You’re that doctor from yesterday.” The patient also noticed Zheng Ren. He still remembered him.
“Yes, you’re back.” Zheng Ren made a pa.s.sing comment, not smiling.
“I’m very uncomfortable. I can’t breathe,” the patient said.
“Let’s do a CT scan,” Zheng Ren said. “Your condition has worsened. It’s far more serious now. As I said yesterday, I still recommend that you stay in the hospital and be treated with antibiotics. However, antibiotics won’t be enough at this point. You might require other forms of treatment as well.”
The patient took two hard breaths. It seemed that he still wanted to argue about the issue of antibiotics but did not have the strength.
Zheng Ren called for the new doctor to perform a lung CT scan on the patient. He also called for the a.s.sistant to push a wheelchair over. He instructed the a.s.sistant to oversee the examination. After he was done, he went straight to the emergency ward to look for him.
It was as there was a small box stuck in the patient’s windpipe. Every time he breathed, he would make a sound. Difficulties in breathing were a common symptom.
After he finished explaining the patient’s matters, Zheng Ren returned to the emergency ward. He called for Professor Rudolf Wagner and Gao Shaojie to see the postoperative patient together.
Needless to say, the professor was the one who suggested that Gao Shaojie learn TIPS surgery. Zheng Ren did not bother concealing his methods. If he wanted to learn, he was willing to play teacher. He could not handle so many surgeries alone.
Was academic status really that important compared to saving one’s life?
Zheng Ren knew that this thought of his was rather stupid in the eyes of many. However, he still felt the same about it. If he wanted to learn, he could. As long as he could understand it, that was enough.
Su Yun raised his eyebrows. He did not follow him. It was rare for him not to be holding his phone in his hand. Instead, he was deep in thought.
When they arrived at the General Surgery Department, Zheng Ren went straight to the Department Chief’s office and knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Department Chief Sun was indeed there.
Zheng Ren pushed the door open and said, “Department Chief Sun, is the patient stable after the surgery?”
When Department Chief Sun saw that Zheng Ren had arrived with Gao Shaojie and Professor Rudolf Wagner following behind him, he quickly stood up and welcomed him in.
“Little Zheng, come in and have a seat.”
“That’s alright, Department Chief Sun. I just wanted to see how the patient was doing.” Zheng Ren waved his hand slightly and smiled. “Have you checked the postoperative blood ammonia levels?”
“Yes, the numbers are normal.” When Department Chief Sun saw that Zheng Ren had no intention of coming in, he brought him straight to the patient’s room. As they walked, he said, “Little zheng, there were no side effects at all after the surgery. Your surgery is simply too amazing.”
Zheng Ren was expressionless. He had always been immune to these types of compliments.
Of course, compliments from Little Yiren were an exception.
When Department Chief Sun entered the ward, Zheng Ren saw the patient in bed with his legs crossed, cellphone in his hand. He was watching a video and could not stop smiling.
He looked nothing like a patient who had just undergone a major surgery!
