Almost immediately, Zhao Lifei was soon showered with flatteries and boot lickings from all sides. 

Even, for a short while, her family business thrived.

However, today, Li Luxian bringing his wife had bared the truth.

She could not pretend to be Mrs Li anymore.

Not only that but she was also subjected to people's mockery for lying.

"Why can't you see the obvious? It's all for the sake of getting rid of that maniac w.a.n.g Hualing. That's all. If you don't believe me then let me tell you straight on the face. You all must know that I am very close to Li Luxian. We might not talk in the open to avoid rumours but we keep in contact in private. I know him better."

"Zhao Lifei since you say so..."

"Yes, this is indeed the case. This marriage is a temporary arrangement solely to prevent the w.a.n.g family. After getting out of this marriage, Li Luxian intends to openly pursue the woman of his heart." Zhao Lifei's words hinted at none other than herself. 

Her cheeks even attained a tinge of red.

People gathered the subtle signs.

"That woman is just a n.o.body. I was going to trouble myself to make an introduction. But after knowing the truth, that's totally not worth it. I won't waste my time anymore." A woman scoffed.

"True though. Mr Li is such an eligible man. Only someone from a prodigious family-like 'Zhao' family deserves to be by his side." Another laughed. 

Zhao Life laughed in her heart and glanced at the pair in a distance.

She secretly smiled. She was encouraged by the fact that she easily manipulated everyone's opinion. Now, if she could also have an amiable interaction with Li Luxian...

She ventured to actually go to Li Luxian and catch up with him.

'That's right! Once people witness Li Luxian interacting with me friendly, my point would hold more weight.'

"Zhao Lifei." Li Luxian nodded in recognition. Likewise, his hold over Chen Yi loosened, finally letting go of her hand.

Chen Yi did not like the way the woman totally ignored her presence as if she was not even present by Li Luxian side and went on having a conversation with him.

People before her might have been bitter but none was that rude.

From their conversations, Chen Yi could tell that this Zhao Lifei has known Li Luxian from his high school days. She was from the 'Zhao' family, the sole daughter of the influential tyc.o.o.n. And to neutralize the pressure build-up by the 'w.a.n.g' family, Li Luxian had to borrow their influence. 

Chen Yi could understand why Li Luxian was placing a high importance on this Zhao Lifei. 

"Oh, and this might be your wife." Finally, after a relatively long period of time, Zhao Lifei finally decided to realize that there was also someone else standing close to them. Her eyes trailed down Chen Yi's dress. "What a beautiful dress. I had to have my father put in a few words to get mine on short notice but the way you had Li Luxian easily get yours, tells a lot about his influence." Zhao Lifei had a sarcastic smile upon her lips as she said.

Her words might appear innocuous but they hinted at the fact that Chen Yi had 'used' Li Luxian resources to get a dress. While she had used her own.

It was a subtle attack at her.

Chen Yi felt it and her lips pursed up together.

As much as she would want to deny it, it was the truth.

The dress might be gorgeous but it was provided by Li Luxian mother. That is, she was unable to match him when it came to the influence.

Yet, unable to grasp that change of air, Zhao Lifei ignorantly proceeded with her careless attempts to show Li Luxian ign.o.ble wife her place. "Oh, Li Luxian, such a gentleman you are. Trying to give credit to your wife? This dress is gorgeous. Such a fine taste can only belong to someone of high cla.s.s like you." Saying so, Zhao Lifei lifted her hand to causally touch Li Luxian.

However, before her hand could reach up to Li Luxian, something had her freeze her hand in midair.
