Chapter 244 - A wedding (2)
“This is you,” said Feng Zeyu as he gently touched Shu Yan on her shoulder.
“Oh wow, I really fell asleep. Thank you. Would you like to come inside for a bit?” Shu Yan extended her invitation as she had Zhang Huaxiu and Yingying to come help unload the car.
“No need. I still have some things that I need to take care of at work. I’ll take off now.” Feng Zeyu nodded slightly and had the driver took him away after Shu Yan was done with unloading.
Shu Yan was a little surprised. Feng Zeyu was very distant earlier, as though the two of them didn’t know each other very well. When they were in City Han, nevertheless, he was very proactive and would offer to help out with everything. His expression and tone were completely different as well. Naturally, Shu Yan would not suspect that he had some sort of multiple personality disorder so she figured that he pretended that the two of them were not very familiar with each other as soon as they returned to City Nan so his reputation would not affect her negatively.
When one was truly fond of another person, one would always have their best interests in mind. That was a sign of Feng Zeyu’s maturity and also a proof that he wasn’t just being impulsive.
Shu Yan bit her lips and she could feel a tingling in her heart.
“Boss Lady, was that…” Zhang Huaxiu stopped immediately when she saw Yingying coming out.
“He needed to go to City Han as well so we split the ride. Let’s hurry up and pull out the merchandizes, then organize and display them.”
Truth was, Feng Zeyu was only somewhat well-known around City Nan University back then. He was obviously innocent so the others only wanted to keep it on the downlow and never would have made it known to all. The only reason so many have heard of it must attribute to Feng Zeyu’s stepmother. With her spreading the words, those who had doubts originally became less certain of it. Nevertheless, very few outside of that area knew about him at all. Zhang Huaxiu’s att.i.tude, however, would bring about more unwanted attention.
Shu Yan needed to go home in the afternoon to cook in the past. Now she could take her time. Nor did she need to cook. Aunty would save her leftovers, or make her a bowl of noodles from scratch. Aunty’s cooking was much better than her own.
In the new few days that followed, Shu Yan would receive a call from Feng Zeyu every night. He didn’t have much to say. Most of the time he’d just ask her about her day and said goodnight to her. She hasn’t seen him in person at all. Had it not be the calls, even Shu Yan would thought her speculation was wrong.
“Mom.” JingJing’s voice brought Shu Yan back. She looked over at JingJing and saw her in a pink set of outfits. She spun around in front of Shu Yan and said, “Does it look okay going to Aunt Xiuxiu’s wedding tomorrow?”
“Of course. Our JingJing looks pretty however she dresses.” Shu Yan pinched her cheek a little. Little kids recover much faster than an adult. If Shu Yan could be a few shades lighter, JingJing was all the more so. She had also gained so weight and was no longer the ugly duckling when Shu Yan saw her the very first time. When her hair grew back out and tie them into two pig tails like Tongtong, she, too, would be a pretty little princess.
JingJing smiled shyly and ran back into her room to change. Most people would gain a few pounds around New Year time but Shu Yan lost a few pounds and was now 117 pounds. She still had some fat around her belly but it was not obvious with thick clothes on in the winter time. At the very minimum, n.o.body would say she was fat now.
This might be the perfect weight for this time period but Shu Yan was not happy with it still. She wanted to lose another 10 lbs. That being said, she had hit the bottleneck right now and hadn’t lost any more weight in the last couple of days. In fact, it seemed to be going back up some.
Now that she was skinnier, she looked much prettier when she was dressed up. Shu Yan had thrown away all of her clothes from the past and had been wearing clothes from her own shop. For Xiuxiu’s wedding, she had picked out a new style winter set and applied some light makeup. She was glowing. She may not be stunning, but she was attractive in her own way.
