Chapter 172: T-800
After some consideration, Chen Chen did not open Terminator: Dark Fate right away. Instead, he turned on the browser and downloaded the second movie of the Terminator series online.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
When the download was completed, Chen Chen moved the movie into the USB drive right away.
The two terminator movies merged into one movie in the USB drive immediately.
Chen Chen attempted to view the movie. The opening of the movie was a war montage of the battle between mankind and Skynet. The soaring robots up above and the machineries on land unleashed strange plasma beams, completely crus.h.i.+ng the human rebel armies in the frontlines.
In this cruel and vicious paddle, mankind was hanging on by the edge the entire time.
As the frame switched abruptly, a T-800 that had lost one of its arms and legs as well as combat prowess could be seen laying among the rubbles, still squirming around.
As destiny would have it, this T-800 would be taken out by a resistance soldier the very next second. However, Chen Chen clicked the pause b.u.t.ton before the soldier could make his appearance.
Chen Chen began thinking when he looked at the image on the display.
The T-800 robot was the fourth generation Skynet robot preceded by the T-1, T-400, and T-600. It was also the first infiltration-optimized combat robot ma.s.s-produced by Skynet.
The robot possessed extremely tough superalloy exoskeletons. It was the smallest of all T-series robots, standing at only 1.9 meters and weighing below 80 kilograms.
Coated with a layer of “living tissue Infiltration outer sheath” which was a layer of living tissue, it became almost indistinguishably identical to the terminator Governor Arnold played. Using these indistinguishable terminators, Skynet had infiltrated the human base camp for the very first time and ma.s.sacred them all.
Needless to say, the USB drive could not instantiate the “living tissue Infiltration outer sheath”, but there were still many valuable technologies to be obtained from a T-800.
For instance, the fuel cell in the T-800 that allowed it to operate for 120 years, superalloy components, and other parts such as its processors. If Chen Chen could decipher any one of these technologies by way of reverse engineering, it should be greatly beneficial.
On top of that, Chen Chen’s decision to use the T-800 instead of the T-850, T-1000, and T-X was a wise decision.
First of all, the T-800 was quite unlike the T-850. It did not contain a hydrogen fuel cell that could trigger a nuclear-like explosion nor did it engage in self-destructive behavior.
Secondly, the T-800 was not as pesky as liquid metal robots like the T-1000 and T-X. Chen Chen believed that if he were to instantiate the latter two terminators into reality, the underground laboratory would probably be in big trouble.
As you may expect, Chen Chen had considered instantiating other robot variations such as the one in Alita before. However, there was still the underlying problem of Alita not being a complete robot as her brain was that of a human still.
Therefore, it was practically impossible to instantiate Alita.
Apart from that, Chen Chen had also considered the movie I, Robot. The movie contained a robot known as NS-5 which was quite unlike the murder machines in Terminator, they were more aptly cla.s.sified as service-cla.s.s robots.
Based on the movie setting, the NS-5 was 1.8 meters tall, constructed with a t.i.tanium sh.e.l.l, and consisted of 456 moving parts.
The NS-5 could sustain weight up to 360 kilograms and could withstand over a thousand kilograms of impact. It had 1TB of memory and was able to perform more than 6MB calculations per second, capable of conversing in 80 languages...
Chen Chen planned to instantiate the robot from both of these movies. Perhaps he could build a stronger, more intelligent war robot by combining the strengths of the two respective robots.
The problem was there was not much energy remaining in the USB drive.
Chen Chen decided to just shelf the movie I, Robot as a backup.
Just to be safe, Chen Chen did not instantiate it right away but instead lifted his head and instructed, “Little X, order the Black Knights to get their weapons and gather in my lab.”
Only several minutes after Chen Chen had issued the order, the cloned soldiers who were training on the training grounds immediately put on their bulletproof vests and headed to Chen Chen’s laboratory with their weapons in tow.
Chen Chen took a glance at them and saw the expressionless cloned soldiers identified as Black Knights. They behaved like walking corpses, perhaps because in a sense, that was what they were.
The cloned soldiers did not have a brain as they were uniformly controlled by the G.o.d chip. As a result, they wore no expressions on their faces except for a blank look.
Upon noting the arrival of the cloned soldiers, Chen Chen considered for a moment before pointing the experiment recorder at the computer display. He reached for the display with full concentration...
A T-800 weighed 80 kilograms. Since the T-800 Chen Chen was planning to instantiate was missing an arm and a leg with missing sc.r.a.ps in its body, there should not be much issue in the weight aspect.
Chen Chen only wondered, would the size of the computer display affect the instantiation results?
As these questions were flashed across Chen Chen’s mind, he felt a metallic surface that was cold to the touch. When Chen Chen pulled with might, a metal skull riddled with scratches appeared outside the display!
After that, Chen Chen pulled with all his strength. A T-800 in an unseemly state was pulled out of the display!
The very moment the T-800 was brought into reality, Chen Chen leaped backward in case it suddenly decided to attack him.
However, nothing happened in the end.
Upon closer inspection of the unmoving terminator robot, Chen Chen noticed that it was already shut down. It did not react to its surroundings nor was there any light in its eye sockets.
When the robots in Terminator operated, the sockets of their eyes would radiate a scarlet beam.
Chen Chen found this observation very enthralling.
In the movie, despite having one of its legs and arms cut off, it continued to struggle and fumble around. Could this mean that in the period which it was instantiated from the movie, the T-800 shut down due to some form of disruption?
Regardless, Chen Chen did not step forward. Instead, he instructed one of the Black Knight members, “Do you see its scalp? There’s a slot on the right side of its scalp that can be opened. After you open it, hand me the main control chip inside it.”
“Yes.”
It was a Caucasian cloned soldier who had received Chen Chen’s orders. Upon receiving his orders, he knelt without the slightest hesitation and opened the robot’s scalp, removing a ten centimeters long chip.
“Sir Commander, I’ve completed my task.”
The cloned soldier got up and handed the chip to Chen Chen before returning to its ranks.
Chen Chen inspected the chip.
It was a rectangular chip that was ten centimeters long and five centimeters wide. Based on the movie, it should possess extremely high remote computing capabilities.
In the movie Terminator: Genesis, this chip was able to handle dimension-spanning calculations. Although it burnt up after doing it, it was still nothing short of amazing.
