Chapter 646: Next Stop: the Holy Sun Continent
Liu Wanrong looked at her son and asked, “Xuan, have you made up your mind on which world to go next?”
After a brief pause, Lu Xuan replied, “No, I haven’t. The star route on Earth had yet to be opened. I still need to fix and activate it.”
While he had decided to leave, there were still far too many worlds out there. The star route leading out there had yet to be opened, or precisely put, had fallen into disrepair.
The route was rendered totally inoperable, and it was quite literally in pieces.
That was mostly the reason why the Earth had been safe for so many years without attracting the attention of cosmic-level forces.
With the star route being completely inoperable, the Earth had no way of developing outside the planet. At the same time, it had also served to s.h.i.+eld the planet from outsiders.
It was the decision made by the wise cultivators from back then: destroy the star route and hide the Earth’s coordinates to completely cut the planet off from any hostile forces out there.
The effects of that decision lasted until today. One could’ve said that it worked very well the entire time.
It was true that there were hardly any other forces out there capable of getting to Earth by taking the star route. Only the likes of h.e.l.l, Heaven, and some other extraterrestrial forces could send low-level members of their races through portals to wreak havoc now and then.
However, these portals were of limited capacity, which prevented these races from coming to Earth en ma.s.se. As such, those extraterrestrial forces had only been able to stir up trouble on Earth every now and then, being far from truly capable of conquering Earth.
If they were to conquer Earth, they would have had to resort to using the star route that connected the entire cosmos.
The various forces in the cosmos did not rely on the transportation formations and portals to establish true exchange among one another, as the scale at which such exchanges could be done was small. Large-scale exchanges relied only on an ancient pathway among the stars.
Such a pathway was invisible to the naked eye. One could’ve even said that only cultivators who had reached certain levels could perceive these pathways through spiritual perception. Otherwise, the inhabitants of Earth wouldn’t have found anything, despite having developed for so many years and had invented advanced equipment like the Hubble Telescope.
Given the sheer size of the cosmos, civilizations were extremely far away from one another. Lu Xuan’s level of training allowed him to take to the cosmos and travel the stars.
However, if he were to not rely on the routes among the stars and resorted only to flying on his own power, he could have spent his entire life in transit without reaching another world.
According to what Lu Xuan knew, that ancient pathway of the stars was a ma.s.sive network that the ancient Celestial Lords placed, which spanned the entire universe.
By using this ancient pathway of the stars, one could’ve gone between worlds in the blink of an eye.
The civilizations all over the universe were actually linked with one another through said ancient pathway of the stars.
Back in his past life, cosmic-level forces were drawn to Earth after the planet’s restoration; they came to the planet once the star route was repaired.
Lu Xuan had been able to leave Earth for the stars using this star route.
However, attempting to repair the star route right now would’ve most likely exposed the planet far earlier to the rest of the universe than expected. If that were to happen, there was nothing he could do about it.
He was confident that he would be able to completely bring about enough growth on Earth to keep the planet protected before garnering the attention of extraterrestrial forces.
He believed that right now, time was truly of the essence.
He was determined to not stop for even a single second, putting his all in the endeavor for forging the best future.
Liu Wanrong paused for a bit and then said, “In case you haven’t made up your mind yet, there is one place that I’d recommend.”
Her expression looked hesitant but determined.
Lu Xuan looked at his mother and asked, “What are you getting at here, Mom?”
Liu Wanrong sighed and continued, “I guess I have to tell you about what happened. By now, you should already know that I wasn’t born and raised on Earth.”
Lu Xuan nodded. He learned of that a long time ago. He only saw relatives from his father’s side; he had never seen any from his mother’s side.
That alone had aroused his suspicions at least once.
Eventually, he was able to figure out that his mother was more than what she seemed to be.
He was unable to find out back in his past life because his parents pa.s.sed too early. As such, he had once speculated in his current life that his mother might have been from the Blessed Enclave.
Based on the current situation, however, he now knew that he was wrong. His mother was never from the Blessed Enclave.
With that said, his mother was likely about to bring up where she came from.
Liu Wanrong then continued, “There’s so much that I never told you all about. I thought that would have been a secret that I would take with me to the grave. Still, I never expected you to have grown so much. Anyway, I’m not actually a human from Earth. I’m from some other world known as the Holy Sun Continent. I was the eldest daughter from the Liu family there. I escaped all the way here to Earth to escape an arranged marriage. Your father saved me, we got together, and, well… you know the rest.”
Lu Xuan seemed rather surprised as he asked, “So, you’re saying that dad knew who you were then?”
Liu Wanrong nodded and answered, “Indeed. Your dad had never said anything about it, but he should be able to guess a thing or two. I have left the Holy Sun Continent for decades and I’m not in a situation where I could return. So, I’d like you to head there in my stead, to take a look at the Liu family now.”
A tinge of sorrow was seen in her eyes as she spoke. She had been separated from her family for decades. She left home out of impulse back then and almost died coming to Earth.
At first, she never thought that there’d be a chance for her to ever go home. However, such opportunities had presented themselves now.
While she was still unable to return on her own, but if her son were to return, that would have meant that she had returned as well.
She was guilt-ridden thinking about the family that she had not been seeing for decades.
“So, that’s what happened, huh? I understand.”
Lu Xuan nodded. That was the first time he heard of such a story both back in his past and present life.
His parents had pa.s.sed so early back in his past life that he never got the chance to hear about any of that. He also never heard of the Holy Sun Continent back in his past life.
It became obvious Lu Xuan had never heard of that place back in his past life.
Liu Wanrong said, “Aside from having you take a look at things over there for me, the main reason why I want you to go to the Holy Sun Continent is, given your current level of cultivation, that place would probably be more suited for your growth. The Holy Sun Continent is far more powerful than the Blessed Enclave, yet the level of Divine Transformation Realm would still be considered powerful enough to reign supreme somewhere. Given what you can currently do, you’d be able to escape even if you were to be unable to defeat your opponent, so the place would be safe compared to other places.”
Liu Wanrong voiced her concern. The extraterrestrial worlds were so overpowered that they were able to raze the cultivators on Earth even during its peak. She was worried that her son would not be able to handle them.
However, things at the Holy Sun Continent were different. While the continent was conducive enough to facilitate his son’s growth, the place wasn’t dangerous enough to be a real threat to him.
“Mom…” Lu Xuan had nothing else to say. He simply opened his arms and hugged his mother.
“I’ll check out things back at the Liu family for you. I guess now my next stop’s the Holy Sun Continent.”
