Chapter 59: Luo Yongnian, Dead
From start to finish, he had been thoroughly crushed!
It was a feeling of abject despair!
Ever since the day Luo Yongnian became a martial arts legend, he had not been in such a desperate situation.
Whether it was speed, power, or technique, he was being suppressed in all aspects.
With just a casual touch from Lu Xuan onto his long sword, he could feel his hands going numb.
Swis.h.!.+
Luo Yongnian slashed out with his sword, the air visibly being ripped in two.
But all he heard was a soft clink, as Lu Xuan stopped the sword, pinching it between two fingers.
“Go to h.e.l.l!” As though his plan had succeeded, Luo Yongnian sneered ferociously, drawing a gun from behind him at the speed of lightning.
Bang!
The sound of a gunshot rang out, but the scene of blood splattering everywhere that Luo Yongnian imagined did not become a reality, and Lu Xuan did not move an inch.
The bullet was not able to pierce through Lu Xuan’s s.h.i.+eld of Vigor.
Luo Yongnian was wide-eyed. He did not think that his sneak attack from point-blank range that hit Lu Xuan head-on still would not be able to penetrate his s.h.i.+eld of Vigor.
The gun itself had been specially modified, and the bullets were also custom made, so they were different from the normal rounds on the market. It was specially designed as a final countermeasure to deal with enemies he could not beat at the moment.
Although he had never had to use it before, he was well aware of its power.
If he were at the receiving end of it, he would already have a hole blown through his guts.
Yet the bullet could not even pierce through Lu Xuan’s s.h.i.+eld of Vigor.
Just thinking about this difference in strength alone was enough to send a s.h.i.+ver down his spine.
Almost subconsciously, he came to a decision, letting go of the long sword in his hand and rus.h.i.+ng over to the middle-aged man in the Chinese robe.
The middle-aged man in the Chinese robe was momentarily in shock, not knowing what Luo Yongnian was planning to do. However, he had received a heavy hit from Lu Xuan, or maybe his mental strength had taken a heavy hit, as he had no strength left to resist, and was easily grabbed by Luo Yongnian.
As a Mental Awakened, once a warrior was able to get this close to him, it could only end with his b.l.o.o.d.y demise.
Even though he had reached a cultivation of Level Six and his physique was much stronger than an average person’s, it was far too weak compared to the physical ability of a Level Six warrior.
Exerting a sudden force, Luo Yongnian tossed the middle-aged man in the Chinese robe towards Lu Xuan, then turned to flee into the depths of the forest.
“F*ck!” The middle-aged man in the Chinese robe exclaimed in fear at this sudden change in the situation, as he saw through Luo Yongnian’s plan.
Luo Yongnian was clearly trying to use him as a sandbag to block Lu Xuan and buy time for him to escape.
The two of them were not on friendly terms from the start, but after this, it would be no surprise if they became sworn enemies.
The man swore to himself that if he survived this encounter, he would make Luo Yongnian and the rest of the Luo family pay.
A Level Six Mental Awakened was definitely no pushover, and if his enemy was not the monstrous Lu Xuan, there was no way he would suffer such a heavy blow in an instant.
Lu Xuan snorted in contempt. It was unthinkable for Luo Yongnian’s petty tricks to stop him. Grabbing the middle-aged man in the Chinese robe, he flung him aside. Simultaneously, he picked up the long sword that Luo Yongnian had discarded, giving chase with long brisk strides.
In front of him, Luo Yongnian was fleeing for his life, but Lu Xuan seemed to catch up behind him with just a few vigorous steps.
Hearing the figure approaching from behind, Luo Yongnian was overtaken by a sudden panic. At that point, he was filled with regret, wondering why he had so carelessly tried to kill Lu Xuan.
To be precise, he discovered that the plan was flawless, and he had already been very rigorous in his scheming. He had correctly recognized that Lu Xuan was not an easy opponent, and had invited along two masters at the same level right away.
However, what he failed to account for was that his plan would work for killing a man, but it would not work against a beast.
Without a doubt, at this very moment, Lu Xuan was a beast in his eyes.
“Luo Yongnian, there’s nowhere to run!”
Lu Xuan kicked down on the ground fiercely, and his body shot up through the air like an arrow from a bow, falling towards Luo Yongnian’s position.
Lu Xuan’s gaze was as cold as ice, as he brought the sword slas.h.i.+ng down in a simple strike.
Splurt!
In that instant, Luo Yongnian was cut in two. A column of blood sprayed out of him as he instantly met his tragic end.
Lu Xuan could directly block the strikes from Luo Yongnian’s long sword with his s.h.i.+eld of Vigor, but Luo Yongnian could not withstand a single blow from his own sword.
Fresh blood quickly pooled on the ground as the long sword regained its white and s.h.i.+ny appearance.
This long sword had also been specially custom made. Lu Xuan picked up the scabbard lying to one side, sheathing the long sword, and also collected the specially modified handgun.
After that, Lu Xuan slowly made his way back to where he was earlier. The middle-aged man in the Chinese robe sat cross-legged on the ground, not taking the opportunity to escape.
“You’re an interesting fellow. You didn’t take this chance to escape!” Lu Xuan remarked lightly, as he tossed the handgun into his backpack and strapped on the long sword, looking like a cosplayer.
In this day and age, if he went out looking like that, n.o.body would believe he was carrying around a real sword; they would think it was a prop sword.
The middle-aged man in the Chinese robe let out a bitter laugh. He did want to run, but the blow he received from Lu Xuan was too severe, and he had killed Luo Yongnian too quickly.
It happened so fast that it was impossible for him to escape!
He looked at Lu Xuan as though he was looking at a beast. He never imagined that anyone could grow to be this strong, easily able to take on three enemies single-handedly.
He could even believe that if it was not just the three of them, and they had the help of eight or ten more level six martial arts legends, they would still be no match for Lu Xuan.
His strength was not of this era, and it exceeded the limits of his comprehension.
“What’s the point of running. In such a short time, it’s impossible for me to put enough distance between us!” The middle-aged man in the Chinese robe continued, laughing bitterly. “I never expected that I, the unstoppable Zhang Hongyang, for all my fame and reputation overseas, would die in this small remote forest without anyone knowing about it!”
At that moment, he fully regretted accepting this a.s.signment, and more so, he regretted stepping foot in the Chinese mainland. Sure enough, the rumors were true—the mainland was teeming with masters, and an uncountable number of experts had suffered tragic defeats, dying resentfully.
For many of the masters who lived abroad, entering the mainland was a taboo, but he had done it for the sake of money, and now he was about to suffer the consequences of his greed.
“Would you like to live?” Lu Xuan asked him playfully.
Hearing this from Lu Xuan, there was a flash of hope in the eyes of the middle-aged man in the Chinese robe, as he replied, “You’re willing to let me live? You should know that I could tell the Luo family everything that happened!”
Lu Xuan scoffed as he explained, “This feud between the Luo family and me will never draw to a close. I previously thought I might be able to elude them for a while, but I didn’t expect that Luo Ying woman to pick up my trail so soon. Since we’re in open hostility now, then we should just fight head to head!”
Zhang Hongyang had calmed himself, and he asked, “What do you want me to do!”
There was no such thing as a free lunch!
