Chapter 43 Making money from other ways
Gu Yan got two orders through network publicity. The customers wanted to lower the price since Gu Yan was a green hand but Gu Yan promised to offer the free interior design. She finally got the orders after bargaining.
Xiao Han would recommend Gu Yan to her friends who wanted to decorate houses because her parents was very satisfied with Gu Yan’s work. Besides, she introduced a store which could provide finis.h.i.+ng material with reasonable price to Gu Yan.
Gu Yan was very happy because she had got four orders currently. But she faced a problem of insufficient manpower for decoration.
“What about staggering the decoration time of the four houses?” Manla majored in economics and knew seldom about Gu Yan’s major.
Gu Yan listed the decoration time of the four houses on the paper and introduced the situation to Manla roughly.
“Look, decoration for the third and fourth houses can be delayed since the houses are not prepared well. But decoration for the first and second houses should be started a week later.”
“What about grouping the workers into the decoration of different houses?” This problem might be solved in other ways.
“But there was only a small number of workers.” Gu Yan shook head and gesticulated.
“So, what are you going to do? To find other workers? Where can you find such professional workers?” Manla thought maybe Gu Yan could only find the casual workers.
“I should find a few professional workers and let some of them decorate the third house when the decoration of early two houses was almost ready. After the early two houses were completely decorated, we decorate the third and the fourth houses.” Gu Yan put her hands under the chin and looked at Manla’s confused face.
“Will you find casual workers or full-time workers? If you get other orders soon, how do you arrange them?” Manla scratched her head, “It seems that it is uneasy to be a boss and no wonder most of people cannot stick it.”
“I have to finish the current four projects at first and I plan to have a temporary corporation with those workers and check the decoration quality.” Gu Yan thought about Manla’s words and calculated the labor cost. “The full-time workers are expensive.”
“Have you got the whole plan?” Manla looked at the paper and totally couldn’t understand what Gu Yan wrote.
“Almost done.” Gu Yan was afraid of missing something and thought over carefully.
“Wow, you really surprised me!” Manla nodded and looked at Gu Yan surprisingly.
“What are you talking about?” Gu Yan was deep in thought and couldn’t follow up Manla.
“You are excellent that you did all the things by yourself.” Manla was proud of Gu Yan.
“This is just a plan and there will be many problems in the implementation.” There was a saying that “plans always fall behind changes.” The last workers were reliable and professional but she had no idea about this time and felt that she forgot some hidden problems.
“But I believe you will handle it.” Manla patted Gu Yan’s shoulder heavily and nodded firmly.
Gu Yan watched Manla and doubted whether she could succeed. However, she must face the difficulties by herself.
The problems should be solved as early as possible. Gu Yan entrusted the last workers to search for new workers and went to the decoration company to invite the workers who were willing to do casual work.
After a few days, Gu Yan managed to find some workers and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The workers were ready and the time for decoration was coming soon. According to the customer’s opinion, Gu Yan measured the size of each room and designed quickly. She went to the hospital after giving the draft to the customer.
Gu Yan heard from the doctor that her grandma was in stable condition and the wound was healing. The good news relieved her. When she saw the nurse helped her grandma come out from the toilet, she went towards them hurriedly and held her grandma.
Grandma clutched Gu Yan’s arm tightly when she just lay down.
“What’s the matter? Are you uncomfortable?” Gu Yan worried about her grandma.
“Gu Yan, you should tell me the truth. What happened between you and Yunfeng?” Grandma released Gu Yan’s arm and worried about her.
Gu Yan realized that her grandma finally perceived something since she was in the hospital for a long time but Wen Yunfeng never appeared.
Gu Yan was hesitating and would like to cover the truth by a few words. “It is the bad time to tell grandma the truth.”
Gu Yan felt guilty when she saw her grandma was serious. Unless Wen Yunfeng would appear, she couldn’t lie to her grandma forever.
“I divorced Wen Yunfeng.” Gu Yan finally told the truth because she also didn’t want her grandma to mention the name anymore.
Grandma couldn’t believe it, “What? You divorced?”
Gu Yan nodded heavily. “To divorce Wen Yunfeng is a relief for me.”
Grandma looked at Gu Yan and sighed. She held Gu Yan’s hand speechlessly, touched her hand back and nodded, “Alright.”
“Grandma.” Gu Yan knew it was a bad time to say this, but the truth could not be concealed forever.
“I know that growing in such poor family, we cannot marry with a rich man.” Most women wanted to marry rich men but seldom knew that there would be many problems sooner or later if the couples were not from families of equal status.
It was true that the couples should come from families of equal status.
“Grandma, are you angry?” Well, Gu Yan had been reproached because of the so-called “unequal marriage” since she was a child.
“Of course not. I feel nothing about it and I just worry about your future.” A single woman’s life would be full of hards.h.i.+ps.
“I can lead a happy life by myself, don’t worry. But I am busy now and only have less time to take care of you.” Gu Yan said and tucked her grandma in.
“Wait. When did you get divorced?” Grandma suddenly asked and looked at Gu Yan questioningly.
“Recently.”
“Then how can you afford the operation fee?” Grandma was increasingly doubtful, “The two operations cost too much money. Where did the operation fee come from?”
