Chapter 386 The older, the wiser
Mrs. Chen had no idea about what happened and tried to say patiently, “Dear, what exactly happened? Why are you mad at me? I don’t even know what happened? It’s not fair.”
As she said the last word, she felt irritated and annoyed and complained.
Mr. Chen pointed at the recording pen on the desk and said angrily, “Listen to the recording. Look at what your good girl does!”
Mrs. Chen picked up the recording pen in confusion. When it started to play, the expression on her face became complex. She hated Jiang Jingcheng’s guts because she never thought he dared to do that.
However, what she should do was to calm her husband down, or all her daughter’s previous efforts would be wasted. Her daughter’s hope to marry Mo Yichen would be shattered as well.
Mrs. Chen put the recording pen away and said, “Calm down, dear. We cannot comment until the matter is clear. We should talk to Qian and see what she will say about it first. We know her well. Anyway, I don’t believe she will do that!”
Mr. Chen was not that angry when he heard that, but he still yelled, “Ask her to go back home right now!”
Mrs. Chen comforted him and said, “I’ll call her now, but you should calm down, or you will scare her. Anyway, we should show our trust in our own daughter!”
Mrs. Chen’s face took on a ghastly expression the moment when she came out of the study. She never thought things would go this way. For now, she needed to cover up the whole thing, or her husband would kick Chen Qian out of Chen’s family forever. Chen Qian’s dream of marrying Mo Yichen would never come true!
Mrs. Chen returned to the bedroom and immediately called her daughter.
“Qian, where are you? Come back home now! We are in trouble!”
“What happened, mom? I am having a facial in the beauty shop! What’s up?” Chen Qian was not so worried. She thought there was nothing that could make her upset because Gu Yan had left City A.
Mrs. Chen had to tell some details on the phone to attract Chen Qian’s attention, “Jiang Jingcheng came to Mo Yichen and told him the whole story. What’s worse, Mo Yichen recorded their conversation and now the recording pen is in your dad’s hand.”
“What? How could it be?” Chen Qian could not believe her ears.
“Come back now and we have to talk it over. By the way, don’t let your father see you when you get back!” Mrs. Chen said.
“Mom, I’ll be right back. You have to help me!”
Chen Qian rushed home. When entering the house, she walked carefully to avoid being found by her father. Finally, she stepped in her mother’s bedroom without anyone’s attention.
Mrs. Chen had already made a duplicate and played it to her when Chen Qian came back.
“That’s impossible. How could that be? How could Jiang Jingcheng…” Chen Qian was very shocked and opened her eyes wide, staring at the screen of the phone. Her hand holding the phone trembled uncontrollably.
How did that happen? Why would Jiang Jingcheng do that? Did he do that because he wanted to take his revenge on her?
“Mom, what should I do? Mo Yichen has known all about it! I don’t know how to face him. I… If the recording were released, I would never have the chance to be Mo Yichen’s wife!”
“Mom, mom, you have to help me this time!”
It was incredible that things had changed dramatically. Perhaps this time Chen Qian would be labeled as a wicked or scheming woman.
When hearing the recording, Mrs. Chen did not change her expression. She looked as calm as usual.
In fact, Mrs. Chen had come up with a plan when she was waiting for Chen Qian. She touched her daughter’s slender fingers and said in a soft tone, “My daughter, take it easy. It’s not as terrible as you think! We can figure this out! Calm down. Listen to me.”
Chen Qian wiped her tears and stood up from the ground with all her strength to sit on the sofa. Her body was s.h.i.+vering. She almost lost her head when she got down on her knees and begged her mom.
The goal was on the verge of being achieved and the position of hostess of Mo’s family was waving to her. She definitely couldn’t bear that all efforts would be wasted.
“Mom, have you figured out a way? I’m counting on you. Mom, help me!” Chen Qian said anxiously, holding her mother’s arms in tears.
Mrs. Chen glanced at the phone and patted her daughter’s arm. She comforted her daughter, “I have a plan, but I don’t know if it can work out. Now we have to make every possible effort.”
Chen Qian chilled out a little. She involuntarily lifted the collar to her s.e.xy lips and bit with her teeth.
A few seconds later, she looked up and frowned, “Mom, what is it?”
Mrs. Chen rolled her eyes and whispered to Chen Qian, “Qian, hasn’t Jiang Jingcheng chased you all the time and failed over and over again? How about take the opportunity to plant the blame on him?”
“It’s impossible to conclude that you do that only on his version of the story. People will stand on your side if you don’t admit it, right?”
Chen Qian frowned, raised her voice, and said, “Will they believe me?” She was surprised.
Mrs. Chen’s tone was much softer. She took her daughter by the arm and said patiently, “My poor girl, you have to try anyway. How do you know whether it will work out if you don’t try? We have no other options now. The most important thing is that you should cheer up and do not have too heavy psychological burden. You have to convince yourself that you didn’t do that.”
“You can’t give the show away. As long as you insist that you didn’t do it and pa.s.s the buck to Jiang Jingcheng, everything will work out all right!”
Sure enough, the older, the wiser. Mrs. Chen could find a solution for the whole thing when Chen Qian was still anxious.
Chen Qian hesitated for a while before she smiled. She leaned on her mother’s shoulder happily, nuzzled her mother’s sleeve, and felt the warmth of her body.
Exactly, no one could make the conclusion that it was Chen Qian who did that without factual evidence.
