Without turning back, Caesar quickly left the northern side of Rahvin kingdom and approached the haughty and elevated palace towards the middle of the city. He traveled from rooftop to rooftop as the sun went down and the stars came out.

He needed to return rather swiftly to prepare for the impending meeting tomorrow, while also speaking to his father about the fox-kin joining the military. Managing a kingdom was not very simple, as such, the n.o.bles would surely complain about the new recruits joining the knight brigade.

After all, each knight was paid an annual salary which naturally came out of the treasury. Even if possessing a strong military was ideal, the n.o.bles wouldn't want to pay those who had just arrived in their kingdom. Thus, Caesar presumed that they would be forced to pay the fox-kin less than the other knights for the time being.

Thinking to here, Caesar soon arrived in front of the palace, greeted the guards, and entered into the s.p.a.cious halls. The dimly lit chandeliers and sconces greeted him with their pleasant aroma he arrived.

The maids who had happened to pa.s.s by him all bowed deeply before carrying on with their tasks. Caesar was pleased by their cordial att.i.tude and trod toward the dining room in a rather affable mood.

He admired the vibrant and pleasing to the eye paint that decorated the walls as he walked through the wide corridors. The number of maids and butlers drastically fell as he approached the dining room, and instead, only guards were present.

Within the time it takes for a stick of incense to burn, he soon arrived in front of the compact, wooden door with two on each side. Two somewhat muscular guards exerted their full-power and pushed open the doors for Caesar whilst respectfully bowing.

Caesar thanked them with a slight nod of his head as he entered into the dining room, the scent of freshly cooked meat entering into his nose. Resting on the table were a few platters full of delicious look boar, baked bread, salad, and even a few slices of lemon cake for dessert.

Crowley, Ahri, Elizabeth, and even Ginger were sitting at the table with plates of food in front of them. After he arrived, they smiled warmly and welcomed him to sit, to which he sat on the chair next to Ahri.

Ginger glanced at him awkwardly and quietly devoured the food in front of her. If everything went according to plan, she would leave Rahvin kingdom within the next week, however, she was somewhat hesitant. As a young girl who had never been around people her age, she was charmed by Elizabeth. At first, she wanted to bring her to the church, but after Caesar spoke to her, she changed her mind.

The last thing she remembered was being rendered unconscious after speaking to Caesar, presumably due to the shock. Such a thing was uncommon to her, however, she woke up perfectly fine in the morning with Elizabeth at her side.

Thinking to here, Ginger caught a glimpse of the happy expressions of Caesar, Crowley, Ahri, and Elizabeth. She envied their familial relations.h.i.+p and the fact that they would continue to be happy with or without her.

"Ginger," Caesar suddenly called out after eating a piece of succulent meat, "are you still planning on leaving within the week? I apologize for my previous behavior, but you must understand my position."

Ginger subtly nodded her head and focused on the table, not daring to look into Caesar's eyes. "Yes, I'll be leaving soon" she replied, "however, I won't be taking Elizabeth with me for now… but I have not given up yet, I shall return!" She said adamantly and bit off a piece of bread.

Caesar didn't respond straight away and simply continued eating his salad before replying, "very well, but please do remember" he said, "although you are a very powerful paladin, you are still but a child, you must first learn to be responsible before you are capable of protecting others."

As he spoke to here, he got up from his chair and walked over to Ginger. The beautiful storage ring on his fingers glimmered faintly as a sword covered in a black cloth appeared. This was the sword he had found in Alexanders room back at the dark continent.

"Think of this as a gift," Caesar said, "we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, however, I hope you take this as a token of grat.i.tude. Unlike the church, I won't force you to change your opinions, nor will I force you to stay. Nonetheless, please do remember my proposal." Caesar added as he handed the sword to Ginger, an indiscernible smile playing on his lips.

Ginger grabbed the covered sword and removed the drapes, revealing a majestically crafted sheathe and sword. The holy energy permeating out of it filled the entire room with warmth and ginger couldn't help but immediately feel a connection to the blade.

Although it was a tad bit too big for her, she would surely keep it for when she got older. Excitedly, she raised her head and continuously thanked Caesar with bows. Everyone enjoyed gifts, especially children.

Caesar calmed her down and soon walked back toward his seat to continue eating the great food on the table. A faint gleam escaped from Caesar's eyes as a self-depreciating smile played on his lips.

'Judging by her expression, that sword seems to be quite grand. Since the church would shortly realize Alexander died, and Ginger would soon return with his sword, I a.s.sume that a few problems will arise. This young la.s.s will inevitably come back to me like a lost lamb, unfortunately for the church, they set her out too young' Caesar thought inwardly as he stabbed a piece of meat.

A profuse and clever ruse set up by Caesar had long begun since that first time he laid eyes on Ginger. Slowly altering her mind from the churches teachings and gaining her trust had long been a part of his plan. However, he would have to wait and see if his investment would grant him more than what he put in.

Thinking to here, he glanced at Elizabeth, who was quietly eating her food. If one looked closely, you could see that she was envious of ginger and angry at Caesar. He had not given her one present since he returned, as he promised her gifts.

Such a sight caused Caesar to smile wryly as he thought about which gifts to buy Elizabeth for tomorrow.
