With more rangers breaking through the demons that had rushed towards us. I began to move forwards again. I only had one task now, that was to get through to the other side of this horde.

'Hey, ummm, Night's Fall, if that is your name? Do you have any advice or help you can give me? To get through all of the demons.'

"Well, if we had had more time, I would have taught you how to break one of the seal's placed on me, but we didn't so I never brought it up. That would have helped. For now, focus as much mana onto me as possible, this can cause the seal's to be weakened for a bit, this is the only time it will work though. So think about this carefully."

Without thinking, like he suggested, I muttered the incarnation for enhancement, making as much mana as I could gather focus on the sword.

I heard nine cracks, which I guess were the seal's he had mentioned being weakened. Then right in front of my eyes, the sword began to change, it got darker and darker until it was black. It was a black sword.

'Wait, black sword. That means that this is….'

"Yes I am that black sword, now stop thinking and attack, we haven't got time for all of this."

Listening to what the sword soad, I began to move. As I did, I slowly sped up. I was now in a flat out sprint. Most people would call me stupid as I would cause myself to be exsusted before I even reached the demons. But in this case those people would definitely be wrong, Night fall was sending what felt like constant pluses of energy into my body. I didn't know what it was, but it was wiping away any form of fatigue I could feel, constantly making me reinvigorated.

I could feel the sword begin to tremble as I ran as well. It seemed like the spirit was excited for what was about to come.

Reaching the demons, I didn't stop to fight any, I just almost carved a path through them. Most of the time, I wouldn't actually do any real damage, just a few little cuts. They also seemed to try and avoid the blade edge of the word though. As if it was something that could kill them as soon as it touched them.

It didn't take me long to realise that I was beginning to slow down though. Then it hit me. I was right in the middle of an horde of demons. Seeing a ma.s.sive variety of weapons coming to kill me, I tried to block them. Clang by clang, I thought I had succeeded before I heard a splat as an axe embedded itself into my arm. The pain didn't come at first.

As I looked across, seeing the axe in arm, I screamed.

"Ahhhh!"

The pain was unreal, looking back up, I sword another axe coming to my face. This was going to claim my life. Seeing my life flash before my eyes, I felt a tear slide down my face.

'I wish I could see you again bro. I miss you all.'

The pain felt like it resided a bit as I watched the axe get closer to my face.

I could hear something coming, but it sounded so far away. Then I saw an arrow come through a demon's head, before hitting the axe, coming to end my life. It made the axe thud into the ground next to me. The demon tried to rip it out but it seems stuck.

Trying to ignore the pain in my arm. I used the hand of my other arm, to grip the sword and stab upwards, going through the demon's throat. Killing it. Losing all of the energy in my body, I collapsed to the floor, landing in a pool of my blood as well as the demons.

It seemed like the energy provided by the sword, couldn't even stop this. The amount of blood I seemed to have lost and still was losing must have been insane.

Then in a conscious state, I felt someone pick up. The sword slipped out of my hand and the energy that it was providing me, stopped.

"Come on kid. You gotta make it."

I seemed to be able to hear a voice that pierced straight through the state that I was in. I began to slowly close my eyes, feeling sleep calling to me. Just about as I was going to let go. A ma.s.sive pain enveloped my body as the axe was ripped out of my shoulder. This woke me back up completely.

I let out another gruelling roar.

Then I felt a warm, heat envelop my shoulder, where the wound was, though I still didn't have the energy to move so I couldn't see what was going on. Then it got hotter and hotter. I thought at one point someone was trying to burn me, but then the heat went away and was replaced by an itchy sensation.

"Sleep now kid, you will be fine when you wake up."

The voice which seemed to have some kind of special power, caused me to go straight to sleep as soon as it was finished speaking.

Groaning, I woke up in what looked like a tent of some kind. Sliding out of the bed I had been in, I fell onto the floor with a bang.

Hearing the noise some people rushed inside the tent. Seeing me up, one came towards me and the other out of the tent.

"Here, you should get back into the bed, you need rest, your body won't have fully recovered yet."

The woman, who I now think was some kind of doctor, helped me back into the bed.

Then the memory of the battle came back. Looking straight to where the axe had hit me, all I saw was my skin. There was no scar marks, no indication that I had been wounded at all.

"What the...but I thought I had bee…."

"It is good to see that you are up, kid. You gave me a scare there, I thought I had lost you."

"Erebus, I mean sir. Where am I? What happened?"

"Kid, you were nearly dead by the time I had got to you. The axe had been pushed deep into your shoulder, cutting through the bone and whatever else was there. I picked up and got through the demons to here, the forward hospital. Some potions and extremely hard restoration spells were used. But they managed to fix the wound. Anyway once you are up to it, the duke wants to see you. It is not every day a wielder of a magic sword appears. I didn't mention what happened when I got to you, at how the sword changed colour back to how it was when you first got it. Your secret is safe."

It took me a little while to get what he meant. Then it clicked, the sword and me causing the seals to be weakened and it turned black, the spirit saying it was that sword. It all came back at once.

"Thank you sir. Where is the sword?"

"Ah yes how could I forget, here you go kid. I will see you soon."

After Erebus pa.s.sed me the sword he left. Gripping the sword, I felt a pulse of energy enter my body.

"You are fine. That's good. I don't want to disappear again and be left on a weapon rack."

'Tell me everything about you. I need to know now."
