James ma.s.saged his temples. He shook his head before focusing back on the doc.u.ments in his projector.
There were numerous things that had to be approved by him, especially concerning the product development of the portable magic reserves. According to his initial plan, he should be starting to develop 3 new products, expanding the product portfolio of the company.
He had 3 initial products before school started: First was the creation of a portable supercomputer, one that weighs less than 1.5 kilograms. He based on the original runic writing schematics that the main quantum supercomputer servers were using but modifying it for a smaller, more compact quantum supercomputer. It would have decreased computing power, but it was portable.
His second product was Flexifabric clothing that utilized unique magic energy from the user to change its general structure, allowing it to change to the design saved in its internal memory. This was to target those who are fas.h.i.+on-conscious and those that want to experiment in clothing design. They merely needed to upload a clothing design into the internal memory (one that isn't copyrighted, non-illegally downloaded, or an original one) and the clothing would begin to change, fitting over the body of the user. To ensure that only the user can use it, they would have to register their magic energy signature into the internal memory and is non-editable anymore. Of course, he planned to produce more generations of this type of clothing by adding more features and the like.
His 3rd initial product was a small, portable blaster the size of a hand. Basically, for self-protection and for a last moment ditch effort. He planned to create 3 generic models: Non-lethal but able to incapacitate (NL1), a stronger version of NL2, used by Legendary and Mythic Magicians, and L1, which can be lethal and be used by Legendary and Mythic Magicians. The blaster was to be charged by 108 complete cycles of the magician's elemental energy, charging the very same battery that his company uses.
The NL1 is generally designed for Master Magicians and below, as the batteries it used could handle up to 3 times their bodies' magic energy capacity, giving them enough juice to launch 3 full-blown attacks (non-lethal) or charge themselves up with their stored energy.
The NL2 uses the battery for military and adventurer use, thus suited for storing the magic energy of Legendary and Mythic magicians, able to store about 3 times their bodies' magic energy capacity. It can be used to launch 3 full-blown attacks or charge themselves up with the stored energy.
The L1, on the other hand, is the same as NL2 but can be used to kill, launching a magic energy burst towards the target, using up the complete charge. It has to use up everything in the battery because the whole thing is disposable; it basically creates a small-scale magic array within a few seconds on the target area, destroying the blaster and the battery to release the power 3 times the owner's.
However, when school started, so many things had to change. First, it was the papers by Homer Simpson, giving him inspirations to develop certain types of products from the general idea of elemental material conversion.
What if you create a fire crystal, one that can produce fire from a few powder scratches from the crystal? And you produce a dispenser, meaning it would only create the fire when you wanted it, and at a cheaper cost, rather than using natural gases as a source of fuel?
How about a portable air conditioner, where Legendaries are creating cheap ice stones that can cool down evenly a certain area? Better yet, what if you could incorporate it in clothing? Doesn't that mean no one will ever complain it is too hot? The same goes for heating.
However, as much as he wanted these things to come into fruition, James was lacking one thing: Investors.
He needed investors to believe in his products and developments and invest money in him and his company. However, it was quite hard to find those who are willing.
For one, his ideas were quite revolutionary and would b.u.t.t heads to different conglomerates that had taken monopolies over certain things.
He needed an investor who was equally as powerful as these conglomerates if he wanted to prove himself in the field of business.
James thought about it for a minute before calling a number.
"h.e.l.lo?" A childish voice sounded out from his communicator. James took a deep breath, and asked Xander directly,
"Hi Xander, I know you don't like wasting time so I'll go straight to the point of this call: Are you willing to invest in my company? I plan to develop certain products that would have an impact on the current market today."
"Oh? Interesting. Tell me your ideas about these products; convince me to invest in you."
James, hearing the curious tone in Xander's voice, secretly heaved a sigh of relief. James began to describe his initial plans for developing products, this time, a total of 5 different products. It was the first 3 products, and the additional 2 were focused on the creation of material manifestation of elements, specifically, water elements and fire elements.
The water element material manifestation basically compressed the water elements, creating a water crystal stone, allowing one to place it in a certain area and activate it with magic energy, causing water molecules to rapidly propagate and expand up to a certain radius. One could create artificial ponds, lakes, or even rivers if needed, as well as use it as a water subst.i.tute for those in the Elite cla.s.s and below.
The fire element material manifestation is in the form of weapon sh.e.l.ls, specifically, cannons, bullets, and the like. It causes a stronger acceleration and explosive power from the sh.e.l.ls, allowing stronger power and area of effect.
After speaking for nearly 45 minutes, James took a moment to take a breather.
Silence.
This continued on for a few seconds before tapping sounds could be heard from Xander's end.
"Hmm… I see the potential. I'll invest 1 billion Etas. Send the necessary contracts as soon as possible. Good luck, don't fail."
"O-o-one billion Etas?"
"Yes, 1 billion Etas, with one 1 and nine zeroes."
"Are you sure? I mean, sure! Yes, don't worry, I'll send them right away! I won't disappoint your expectations for this!" James replied, stuttering for a bit.
"Oh, before I go, you can ask Faykes or the others if they want to invest as well. I see quite a strong potential in your Ru0026D products. Just make sure to hire the best and brightest creative minds. I don't want the investment to go to waste. Once the research had progressed, I'm willing to invest more if necessary."
"Don't worry! I plan to accelerate the research for these products! Thank you Xander for trusting me!" James replied, feeling like he was in cloud nine. Xander ended the call, leaving James a bit in a daze.
He just experienced a windfall of 1 billion Etas as an initial investment for the products he planned to expand and research on. Hmm, since Xander recommended the others, I'll try getting their investment as well, James mused.
James dialed another number, and after a few rings, a masculine voice sounded out.
"Yo, James, what's up?"
"Hey Faykes, you know I run a business right?" James replied, a bit nervous.
"Yup, the one on magic energy power batteries, right?" Faykes responded, causing James to nod in response. He then replied back,
"Well, I called you up to ask if you would want to invest in our current set of projects we got planned."
"Hmm… well, I do plan to grow my money… ok, fine, tell me the projects and your initial proposals." Faykes' voice sounded a bit uncertain in the beginning.
James was a bit relieved with these words and began his spiel for the next 45 minutes. He explained roughly the same detail as he explained to Xander. In some parts, Faykes interrupted James to clarify some things, which James was happy to answer and clarify.
After the discussion, James and Faykes agreed to an unofficial deal: 30 million Etas as an initial investment. Faykes also wanted to talk more about the investment on Monday on campus, which James agreed to.
After a few more lines of pleasantries, the two bid farewell to one another, and after the call ended, James punched in the air, jumping on the spot. Plastered on his face was a wide grin that seemed to show his relief and joy that his initial problems were gone.
I'll contact the girls as well. For all I know, they might want to invest as well, James told to himself. He planned originally to gain investment from his clan, but with what happened to them and Homer…nevermind that.
I was about to get busy. For the next 6 hours, all I made were calls and messages to the friends I had, asking if they wanted to invest, and me giving them the same spiel over and over again and answering their questions. It was the girls who were quite critical, but I was patient since their questions were quite on-point and gave a different perspective.
I answered them all as complete as possible and was honest at the points I had not tackled yet, as this was still an idea.
It was already sunset when I finished with the calls, feeling a bit exhausted mentally.
However, I only managed to secure roughly 180 million Etas from the rest of my cla.s.smates, but not yet official as the contracts and the transfer of a.s.sets and stocks hadn't been finalized yet.
And that was what I did all weekend, finalizing the contract creation and making sure there were no pitfalls and problems in them, before sending them to his friends that agreed with the investment.
It was a good day for business for him, and it was one step closer to establis.h.i.+ng his dream of becoming a business empire.
