"What's that on your face?" Matt asked as he frowned at me and I chuckled.

"That's a love mark," I told him teasingly and laughed as my best friend's eyes widened.

"On your nose? What the h.e.l.l's wrong with Big Sis?" he asked incredulously and I laughed some more as I scratched the tip of my nose.

"Yesha pulled at it while I was sleeping," I answered as I sat next to him. We were at the bar sharing our Friday night drinks like usual.

"I didn't know she had a nose fetish," Matt added as he continued to frown at my face. "That looks painful."

"Not really," I told him as I glanced at the red line on my nose.

Since a week ago, Yesha had been eyeing this particular part of my face a lot and would tug at it when I wasn't looking. I didn't understand why but she seemed to be fond of my nose that I would find it so funny if it weren't painful.

Yesterday morning before I left for work, she had requested to pull it one more time and had sulked when I refused. In the end, I let her do it and it ended up longer than the usual and she pinched it while I was in dreamland too.

"Well, I can't say I'm luckier than you since Jane has her own quirk. My wife likes to bite my ear that we fight about it every day," Matt shared woefully and I laughed. "Hearing about Yesha's weird hobby made me feel a little better. At least there are two of us versus those pregnant sisters," he added which made me stop, the smile frozen on my lips.

"What did you say?" I asked casually but my eyes and ears were focused on Matt.

"I said I'm relieved because we're on the same boat," he repeated and I shook my head.

"Not that. About the sisters," I prompted and Matt bobbed his head.

"Ah, you mean the pregnant sisters?" he asked amusedly and my blood ran cold.

"How far along is Jane now?" I asked again, my voice still controlled, though my hands were already shaking.

"Jane's two months pregnant now," he replied with a fond smile. "Those two crazies, who would have thought they'd get pregnant at the same time? I was still shocked when Jane told me almost a week ago after she and Big Sis went to see the doctor. But I think that's better because you're going to be attending Lamaze cla.s.ses with me, buddy," he continued as he patted my back and I decided I had enough.

"Matt, I forgot I have to do something," I said and excused myself.

As if being ran after by demons, I walked back towards my car and drove back home in record speed. I was raging mad.

"How could she?" I snarled as I marched towards our apartment but found it empty. Yesha might have gone to the supermarket.

Like a mad man, I started going through our drawers to look for anything that would prove Yesha's condition.

Pregnant!

For the life of me, I could not understand why she would keep that information from me, I thought as I checked boxes and bags but found nothing.

Desperately, I walked in our shared bath and went through the cupboards there too but there was nothing there still. With frustration building up, I sat at the edge of the bathtub and frowned at the floor when the trash bin caught my attention. A brown paper bag was inside and when I kneeled to check its contents but found nothing.

Without giving up, I dug further until I found what I was looking for buried under discarded tissue paper. A pregnancy test stick was inside, stuck at the bottom that it escaped being collected last week, and when I pulled at it, it showed me what I had been expecting to see. Two blue lines greeted me.

"Adam, are you there?" I heard Yesha call out and I remained unspeaking as she stepped in the bathroom and gasped upon seeing me with the stick. "Adam…"

I turned to her with my narrowed eyes as I stood up. She looked pale and she was visibly trembling as my eyes scanned her face down to her still flat stomach.

"When are you planning to tell me?" I asked softly and saw her flinch at my question.

She looked frightened and fragile standing there, but I wasn't in the mood to pamper her at the moment. I felt betrayed. I knew she didn't love me, but keeping something like this was too much.

"WHEN ARE YOU PLANNING TO TELL ME?!"

"Adam…" she whimpered as she tried to reach out for me but I stepped back. I didn't want to be touched by her at the moment.

"Or are you not planning to tell me at all?" I asked as my chest heaved remembering the past. My hands fisted on my side as I controlled my temper. I felt like shaking her but I refrained. My old trauma about this issue surfaced and my fear took the better of me.

Yesha had a week to tell me she was pregnant and she never said a word until now that I found her out. What could she be thinking?

Without realizing it, my past demons had emerged and swallowed me whole. My mind was frozen – my heart cold. I was scared, and I was furious.

"You," I snapped as I pointed at her. "Don't you ever think of hurting that child," I warned her. "You will carry my child to full term. Try to run away and I'll make sure you'll regret it for the rest of your life," I continued as I stormed out of the bathroom, grabbed my jacket and walked out the door.

I heard Yesha calling my name, asking for us to sit down and talk, but I was in no shape to talk about anything. Like this, I left the apartment in my car and drove away to nowhere.
