An emergency quest immediately came up.

Emergency quest: Dangerous Beast. Level far surpa.s.ses host.

Quest conditions: Escape!

Radley stared at the dragon-like creature. Red scales. Ma.s.sive four-legged body with a tail. Mouth full of gnarly teeth. Two of the teeth were too large to fit in its mouth. Four yellow eyes with six nostrils.

He looked at its level. Lv 20 Territorial by nature. Name: Elder Red Wyvern.

Paxton smiled, "Well, the good news is you will be able to see us in action."

Radley started to worry, "Perhaps we should just leave."

"Nonsense! You can leave. Me and Erina will quickly school this beast. You'll see."

"That would be a grave mistake. You are a level 12. She is a level 10. How in the h.e.l.l do you expect to defeat a level 20!?"

They both looked at him with serious reservation, "How the h.e.l.l do you know our levels!?"

Radley proclaimed in an exasperated tone, "I don't know. I can see the Invigoration levels. Don't ask me how I can do it!"

Erina wasn't having any of it, "You've been researching us! I knew he was too good to be true!"

Paxton picked up his ma.s.sive broadsword. He points it towards Radley's neck, "Who the h.e.l.l sent you!?"

"Huh!? No one, I swear! Let's just leave, please!"

"Mmm…you sound like those cringy animal activists. We will deal with you later, for now. Erina you ready."

"Yep, as much as I will ever be."

Paxton charged the beast down who just gently flicked his tail towards Paxton. The power was immense. Paxton had to use broadsword as a s.h.i.+eld to block the attack, but it was still not enough. It sent him flying backward. He jams his sword into the ground to stop his momentum. Erina sends an arrow flying towards the wyvern. The wyvern, in turn, sends out a fireball that incinerates the arrow and continues towards Erina. It detonates sending an unconscious Erina sailing towards the edge of the rock they were on.

She stops right at the edge. The creature pounced onto Paxton who was barely able to dodge to the left. Paxton shouts to Radley, "I got this! Get Erina!"

Radley nodded and ran towards Erina who seemed to be slipping off. He grabbed her before she fell off but the sudden s.h.i.+ft in weight caused him to lose his balance. No! Not again!

Luckily, there were some roots that stuck out from the rock. He was able to grab a hold of one but lost his grip on Erina. He grabbed her leather armor just in the nick of time. She hanged precariously in his hands. The root gave way and started breaking out of the rock. They swung all the while until he was able to get his hands on a vine. He switched from root to vine and held on for dear life. He had no idea how high up he was but he knew the fall would be fatal. He used all of his strength to pull her up and had her relax on his shoulders. A horrific scream could be heard from the rock. He pushed himself and used all of his strength to get to the top. He happened across his axe along the way which he kind of forgotten. He pulled it out and kept climbing. His arms and legs were burning by the time he reached the top. It was quiet, too quiet. Exhausted he collapsed onto the surface of the rock. The wyvern was nowhere to be found.

He gently placed Erina down on the ground. He was thankful that she didn't fall off his back. He turned around and fell onto his back, exhausted from the ordeal. His arms were numb. He even looked at his health bar and noticed it went down. His blue bar was empty. That probably meant it was some form of stamina rather than magic points like he originally believed.

After he gathered his breath a popup appeared. Congratulation Quest complete. Reward: 100 Invo points. 5 Diff points.

Holy c.r.a.p 5 Diff points and a hundred experience, for just surviving. While it was no easy task to be sure. It was well worth it.

He stood up and started to look for Paxton. What he found made him retch. He held his stomach to ease his queasiness.

Half of Paxton's face was ripped off. His jaw wasn't even properly connected to his face and hanged limply to one side. His entire abdomen was missing as well as all the organs that were inside. His sword arm laid a small distance away with the sword still in his hand. Blood was everywhere.

Radley punched the ground in frustration. Why didn't he listen!?

He wanted to bury him but the ground only had a thin sheet of ground on top of a rock. So that wasn't going to happen. He decided to cover him with loose rocks he could find. After he did that he tried taking his blade, but it was preposterously heavy. He was barely able to move. So he slipped the sword and laid it down on top of the grave.

He hesitated for a second. He wasn't religious by any means. A thoroughbred atheist. He despised the idea of religion, but he respected it enough so as not to offend other people and their religious denominations.

He placed his hand on top of the grave and said, "Thank you for your tutoring. I was able to learn a lot from it all."

He went to where Erina was resting. He did a small medical course in first aid so he knew what to look for. He checked her vitals which seemed fine. A regular heartbeat and steady breathing.

He waited until she would awake. It took almost twenty minutes for that to happen. When she woke up the first person she saw was Radley. She grabbed for her crossbow and aimed it at Radley. Radley wasn't stupid enough to keep the arrows around.

"Where is Paxton!?"

He could only remain quiet and turned away.

Erina immediately connected the dots, "You killed him!?"

"Whoa, no!"

He pointed out the area covered in rocks, "Wyvern got him. I told you guys to leave it, but you didn't listen!"

"Traitor…"

"What?"

"You are a f.u.c.kING TRAITOR!!!"

She aimed her crossbow to his head but there were no arrows in it, "You were supposed to die."

"Fine, but I needed to save you first…Whatever, I'll leave"

He grabbed the leather piece and his axe and left. His junk was almost starting to show.
