Jose was attempting to validate the spider's reason in not attacking him as he ran through the Forest of Spiders; there were plenty of times when he had slightly let his guard down, a spider could have easily hopped off a tree branch or burst out of the bushes then.
'Oh well, I have 20 minutes left, may as well as settle this quickly' Jose thought before realising what one of the rewards for Fixing His Mistake was. The spell rune, a.n.a.lysis Eyes. A hard to come by skill that's incredibly useful and almost crucial in the later stages of the game. Having a.n.a.lysis Eyes meant being able to see the stats of all bosses without having to sacrifice anything. Usually only gotten mid-way through the game from defeating bosses.
'Maybe this is why monster trainers bring their hordes of monster to towns and cities, so they can get this exact same mission' Thinking about it and everything that magician said, it made sense if that was the reason. Who wouldn't want the skill? Especially large guilds who have plenty of people who can help out with the mission. It was almost a guaranteed spell rune.
Jose looked at the corner of his vision, he had 20 minutes left until the pod forces him out. He may as well make the best use of his time and start if he was going to skill the greater number of monsters; he needed to start, there were way too many people.
Holding out his staff, Jose chanted the spell Rupture. The ground near the centre of the monsters began to crack and crumble, forcing movement as a few of the small spiders were instantly killed. This set off the start of the attack; the spiders began their descent into the city, climbing up the walls before jumping down on the players.
Fortunately, no one had taken notice of Jose's actions. They were all too preoccupied preparing themselves, and now that the battle had begun, the players charged forward bravely, meeting face to face with the spiders as they swung their swords and s.h.i.+elds. The magicians and archers at the back begun firing off volleys of attacks, the a.s.sa.s.sins would appear now and then, attacking the vital points of spiders while they were busy attacking either swordsman or tanks.
Blitz who was busy trying to manage everyone swiftly shouted towards Jose across the field. "What are you doing magician! Get back with the others and start firing off your spells to the spiders in the back! And make sure to not hit anyone on our side!"
However, Blitz never expected Jose to completely ignore his commands. He was even more shocked when he saw Jose charge deep into the spiders, his body twisting and ducking through the attacks as he eventually made it to the back.

Unfortunately, unlike the other players, killing any small spider won't give him exp anymore. So, he would have to go for the big ones right away. And now that he has his new equipment, he was slaughtering them with ease. Trapping their legs before bas.h.i.+ng their heads in. He would constantly retreat whenever the number of spiders was beginning to overwhelm him.
Constant messages bombarded his screen.
[40 Exp Gained]
[40 Exp Gained]
[40 Exp Gained]
[Level up]
[30 Exp Gained]
[30 Exp Gained]
Eventually, that went on until he reached an impa.s.se with his mana.
[Low Mana]
He had run out. Fortunately, he still hadn't used his mana potions from before. So, while in the process of running through the crowd of spiders, Jose whipped out a low mana potion and chugged it down. It took him a second to drink all the contents and during that second, he dodged an attack from a spider up in the trees.
[10 Mana Gained]
Jose's eyebrow twitched at the sight, he was just about to curse the game out when he remembered that the low mana potions were probably only going to be useful at the very start of the game. Sighing deeply he whipped out a few more, drinking the potion before finally turning his body to face the storm.
The spiders had slowly gathered up, becoming more and more as they piled on each other, all attempting to get to Jose. Fortunately, as the players in the town had managed to clean up their part of things, they were now able to help out with Jose.
Blitz was the first to come over. Using his s.h.i.+eld he dashed towards the spiders like a bull, his gigantic figure seemed like it could block out the sun. He smashed into the crowd of spiders, instantly killing a lot of small ones while doing heavy damage on the larger ones.
Retreating a few steps back he turned to Jose. "You got some s.p.u.n.k to your playstyle, charging into the field of monsters like that to keep them distracted. You earned my respect, now help me out." Blitz turned his attention back to the spiders, his ma.s.sive s.h.i.+eld swung through the air, smas.h.i.+ng a few spiders across their face as he sent them flying.
His teammates swiftly came to back him up, the magician's and archers began sending off their volleys of attacks. Jose noticed that none of the magicians chose Rupture, rather, the two of them both chose the Icy Wind spell rune. Freezing the ground as it momentarily gave a few spiders the freeze effect.
The archers aimed, sending their shots to the frozen spiders, nailing them in the vital points of their body. An a.s.sa.s.sin was constantly appearing and disappearing from battle, her blade skills were fast as she swiftly dismantled the spider's limbs before stabbing her knife through its head.
Blitz and his swordsman kept the aggro of the spiders to themselves. One of the swordsmen slashed down, causing a curved blade to cut through the air, slicing through the spiders. The other swordsman slashed twice, creating a cross slash in the air as it went through the spiders.
Blitz bent his knees as he grabbed his huge s.h.i.+eld with both hands; his teammates attacking strategy immediately change, their attacks were hitting the sides of spiders or the ground next to them. Forcing the spiders into a thin line, right in front of Blitz's s.h.i.+eld.
Blitz waited a few more seconds, allowing his teammates to create a line that went for 10 metres. That's when he kicked off the ground, he roared furiously as his figure charged forward. His s.h.i.+eld made contact with the spider's first, his body kept running forwards as the spiders were smashed out his way.
He stopped after 10 metres and retreated, the two swordsmen ran up to support Blitz in his retreat. The players from the town finally begun attacking as well, slaughtering the spiders like the bugs they were.
Jose watched the scene unveil, he was rather surprised and impressed by Blitz and his team. They worked together with great coordination, Blitz never shouted nor gestured his commands, his teammates knew exactly what to do and when to do it.
Blitz turned to Jose and smiled widely. "You see that newbie, this is what the power of a party holds. Granted, it's only my party that's this powerful because we're going to be at the top of the player scoreboard." After saying what he wanted he returned to battle, smiling joyfully and roaring loudly as he attacked the spiders.
Jose finally snapped back into reality and start firing off his spells, the ground began to rupture as holes trapped the limbs of spiders. He then dashed forward, bas.h.i.+ng in the heads of the spiders with his hardwood staff. He felt the adrenaline building up as he continued to battle, he hadn't felt such a feeling since he was in the Navy. His excitement burst forwards as he continued his attacks.
His worked together with Blitz and his swordsmen, swiftly taking care of the enemies in their path as they made their way forward. Blitz and his team were rather stunned by Jose's playstyle, the magician's especially, none of them would even think about getting into a physical fight with monsters.
The fight continued for another 5 – 10 minutes, the casualties on the players' side reached half their population. Fortunately, players were able to resp.a.w.n. As it was the start of the game, for the first 10 levels the death penalty is quite lax. With only a 10% decrease in current exp. No losing items. That was for the later stages of the game when it becomes survival of the fittest.
Once the final spider was killed the players all cheered with joy. Monster trainers were seen as both player kills and ma.s.sive helpers. Because of their trait of training monsters to towns and cities, they would activate emergency request which gives bountiful rewards. Not to mention that just the exp garnered from killing all the monsters allowed them all the level up crazily.
"Haha, now I'm level 4, no one can defeat me!" Blitz shouted at the top of his lungs with pride. His teammates were all smiling widely from their own level-ups; now they were confident that they were the top party in their town. Granted, there was roughly a few hundred Town of Beginnings.
Blitz then turned to Jose and put a thump up while laughing loudly. "You did well magician, you managed to fight side by side with a tank and two swordsmen, you should feel proud. How about you join me and my party in our quest to the top of the server?"
Jose wasn't paying much attention to what Blitz was telling him, rather, he was more focused on the fact that he managed to get the most kills out of all the players. It was a narrow margin, with Blitz only being a dozen kills behind him. Fortunately, he managed to stay on top and reap the rewards.
[Emergency Mission Complete: Protect the Town of Beginnings from the spider horde]
[Rewards: 100 Exp; 5 Stat Points; 1 Skill Point]
[Hidden Mission Complete: Fix Your Mistakes]
[Rewards: Not being banished from the town; a.n.a.lysis Eyes]
Jose swiftly opened up his skills menu and took a look at the spell a.n.a.lysis Eyes.
[a.n.a.lysis Eyes Lv 0/5]
[Description: Find the weaknesses and strengths of your enemies.]
[Effect: See the character screen of the spell's target]
[Cooldown: 10 Seconds]
Jose smiled before looking towards Blitz. He wanted to give it a try and see if it was really as good as the players say it is. Activating his spell a light sheen flashed across Jose's eyes, it would only be noticeable if someone was looking for it. After that, a screen appeared in front of Jose.
----------
Name: Blitz
Cla.s.s: Apprentice Tank
Level: 4
HP: 43/60
MP: 10/20
----------
It was rather lackl.u.s.tre, but it made sense as a.n.a.lysis Eyes were still level 0. For them to be able to show so much despite their low level was good enough for Jose. He wondered what the eyes would show once he reaches their max level.
Looking at the spell in his skill menu his eyes widened with shock at the sight of how much it cost to level it up. Unlike his Earthquake spell which required only 1 skill point to level up before doubling every level. a.n.a.lysis Eyes cost him 5 skill points. He felt his heartache at the sight.
"Hey magician, did you hear me?" Blitz said as he leaned over and waved his hand in front of Jose's face. "I said that you have the opportunity to join my party, in that, you join us in our journey to make it at the top of the server."
"Why on Earth would I join the party of w-" Jose was about to say something before he was cut out, his character in-game disappeared as well.
The players looked at each other with their eyebrows furrowed. Blitz placed his hands on his hips. "Did he log out? Or was his time already up?"
"Huh, to think he was so weak that's he's time is already up," One of the swordsmen remarked in a disdainful voice.
