"Do you have an appointment?" he asked through the gate.
"Yes," I told him, tearing off a page from my notepad and handing it over, "Selene had arranged for a meeting with the lady. Check if you need to."
The sun was setting behind my back and I knew it would take some time. I was meeting with the lady of the lake, ancient being old as time. She was the real force behind the Knights of the Round Table, even years after the golden age, she still held an important role in politics as Judge and Jury. She would know what we were going up against, having to deal with hunters and the vampires. It's not the first time that had happen but usually there was some being behind it all giving them magic.
Finally, I had a few answers and could see the direction of what had happened. This time, they had found a way to channel power by using the tattoos. It was the cleanest operation ever.
Gargoyle number two stared at me unwilling to move until one of the Knights appeared. I was let in after that as I was on the list and apparently I had an appointment.
"The lady is waiting," he said looking at me,
"Lead the way,"
The fortress part itself was impressive. Elegant and had the air of loneliness that was different from the vault or the manor. It was bold enormous but so empty. Even the female butler that greeted me looks bland. Her hair was short trim stood out like a black sheep in a herd of white as the Knights kept their hair long in a ponytail.
She showed me to a room and my jaw dropped. Before me was a Round Stone table. The very one in the legend of King Arthur but I wasn't here to admire it. I was here to see the lady.
A vision appeared before me. The lady of the lake stood in front of me in all her G.o.dly glory. Her t.i.tian-colored hair curly long curtains over her body complimenting her cerulean blue eyes. She truly was a G.o.ddess ruler of the other planes, a beauty that all pales in comparison and the Queen of the Round Table.
