Back around the middle of the festival, when the sun was at its peak. Sean and Lily were sitting in the shade watching all the younger years enjoy their day off from stressful education. The two of them didn't say anything and enjoyed the company of each other. Sean watched the matches closely whilst Lily didn't understand what was happening but was happy to be able to witness a festival that wouldn't end badly for her.
"S-So?" Sean said hoping he can find the right time to confess.
"What's up?" Lily replied not knowing what was going on.
"Hey, guys," Ruby said coming over drinking some water. "Have you seen Owen? He kind of vanished after the race."
"N-no," Sean said as he was rudely interrupted. "Have you checked with Ethan?"
"No, can't find him either. Can I wait here and see if he shows up?"
Ruby sat down next to them unaware of what was going on. She casually interrupted a conversation and got herself involved. Like a child who walked in on something they shouldn't have and sits in the room not knowing anything about the world. Ruby sat as if dragging out the word count, waiting for Owen to show up, even though from previous chapters we know he won't show up.
"Why don't you go look for him?" Lily suggested. "Have you tried the music rooms?"
"No…" Ruby said thinking about all the places she had been. "I don't think I have? Maybe I have? Should I check again?"
"Yes," Sean said getting in the words before Ruby came up with another excuse to stay and talk.
"Alright, I go look. Thanks!"
Ruby left eventually and Sean was able to find some s.p.a.ce within the conversation to talk to
Lily.
"S-so?" Sean said trying again.
"What's up?" Lily said hiding her face.
"C-can I ask you something?"
"S-sure."
The two of them sat both hiding from the other person. Anyone watching these two would be able to tell what was happening. It was written in ancient texts that this was going to happen eventually. It was obviously going to happen sooner or later and it seemed as if today was the prophesized day. Two people who couldn't get the words they needed fighting with the anxiety in their minds. Battling the demon that would stop them from achieving what they wanted most.
"W-what do you think of me?" Sean asked.
"U-um?" Lily said trying not to break down. "I think you are a nice guy?"
Lily wasn't aware of what exactly a 'nice guy' was. To be called a nice guy can mean a few things, usually, they aren't the best things to hear from the person you like.
"W-what if I were to tell you that I liked you," Sean said confessing as a child would, trying to dodge the actual confession and coming up with some roundabout method which he hoped would lead him to his destination.
"Ah- Um?" Lily said breaking down and overheating. "I think…. That would...um… I… Eep!"
She squealed like a chipmunk, retreating into her hood. Covering her face so tightly you wouldn't know if she had oxygen.
"I don't know about feelings." She said through her hood. "I wouldn't know how to treat you."
Sean looked at the ball of cuteness he saw in front of him, trying to resist the urge to hug her. Wondering how girls freely hug each other without it being awkward.
"That's ok," Sean said. "W-we can take it slow. We can do things at our own pace. What works best for us."
Lily slowly escaped from the confines of her hood and saw Sean smiling at her, causing her to retreat back again.
"O-ok…" she said quietly.
Sean wanted to act as if he didn't hear so that Lily would have to say it again. Except when he first heard her answer he didn't know what to do. His brain was overloaded with cuteness and his mind was racing out of control from the situation he thought wouldn't occur. The people in his head were making sure they wrote down every event of what was happening for his memory that he ran out of people to help him process information.
"S-So… what do we do now?" Lily asked.
" I don't know. I've never done this sort of thing before."
"Shall we hold hands?" Lily said as she poked her hand out from her jumper to which Sean hesitated before carefully holding it. They both turned bright red as they looked away from each other. Slowly figuring out how a relations.h.i.+p worked.

From the other side of the field, watching from up a tree, holding a pair of binoculars. Claire watched the lovely new couple with a sinister smile on her face.
"Oh ho?" She said, "What juicy love gossip do we have here?"
She attempted to get a closer look by moving herself up to the edge of the branch. She slowly s.h.i.+fted herself up to the edge to get a closer view of the hand holding, only for the branch to snap and fall from under her.
She stood back up and looked through her binoculars, hoping to find it again. Except for this time she saw Kaylee sitting by herself with a pen in hand. Writing about who knows what.
