The sports festival. An event towards the end of the school year. It was a time for love and a time for pain as two teams battled it out. Last time, Owen and Ruby were forced into a three-legged race. Afterwards, Owen found Claire and started to stalk Kaylee. Nothing more than that happened. Compared to the last chapter, the perspectives have changed to a third-person view. This can be confusing for some but think of me as your own voice. I'm nothing but a little voice that talks back to you. Maybe I'm a narrator? Isn't that strange?
To explain the events that occurred during this one sports festival, we will have to go back to the beginning, but not too far. To figure out we must see what happened whilst Owen and Ruby were running the race. Whilst Claire was following Kaylee around only to watch her write.
"What is she doing?" Claire said watching from afar. "What is she writing?"
"What are you doing?" Simon said sneaking up on claire.
"Look, look… What do you think she's writing?"
"Probably working? She didn't really want to take part in today."
"You may be right. But I think you are wrong."
"Then why ask for my opinion?" Simon said.
"Are you going to talk to her?" Claire asked.
"Of course, I will. Just not now. I don't know when."
"Huh?" Claire responded with a look of confusion throwing bits of popcorn at Simon. "What about what happened the other day. Where did your confidence go?"
"I don't know," Simon said watching Kaylee. "I feel like it's worthless. I had my chances and maybe I messed up… I should just stop being so selfish."
Claire looked at Simon but didn't say anything. She went back to watching Kaylee by herself and followed her around for the rest of the day trying to distract her from the events that were occurring around her.
"Hey, Owen. Come here, come here,"

Skipping forward in time, we come to the main event. Claire still followed Kaylee around but was now joined by Owen. Claire knew that Simon was going to talk to Kaylee again and waited around for it. Luckily for her, she didn't have to wait long.
"H-hey, Kaylee," Simon said approaching a high-alert Kaylee.
"W-what's up?"
"I wanted to talk."
"Every time someone hears those words their heart starts to race," Kaylee said looking visibly awkward. "So, what's up?"
"About the other day. I want to ask one more time. This time it will be the last. I've been stupid this whole time and I want to apologise. So, if you say, I won't bother you again."
Kaylee stood up and looked at the quivering Simon in front of her. She approached him but walked back unsure of what to do.
"I'm sorry…" She said holding her arms. "I-i can't accept your feelings… It wouldn't be fair for you."
"I see. I understand. I hope we can stay friends." Simon said trying to force a smile hoping he didn't have to stay around much longer.
"Of course..." she replied. "We can stay friends."
"Well, that was shocking," Claire said to Owen as they had just witnessed these events from afar.
"What was? It was obvious. Anyway, I'm going. I've seen all I wanted to see."
"Hmm? I guess you are right." Claire said following behind Owen, "Shall we get some more popcorn?"
Later they both met up with Simon and spoke to him as if they knew nothing. Even if they tried to hide it, Simon knew they were watching and he ended up spending the rest of the day lamenting. Owen listened to everything Simon said about the situation but didn't add anything. He knew his friend was going to do the same thing and would probably experience the same results. He supported Ethan over Simon since the start and even expected an outcome like this. But seeing how it all ended up, guilt couldn't help but swallow him.
"This is lame," Owen said. "I'm leaving."
"Where is he going?" Claire asked.
"Leave him," Simon said. "He's probably got something to do."

An hour later the sports festival was coming to an end. The cla.s.ses gathered around in the field and the scores were announced for each team. The field glowed a pleasant orange as the students run around cheering for each other.
At the far end of the field, Kaylee waited by herself, watching the younger years.
"Sorry for making you wait," Ethan said running over. "I got caught up with something."
"It's fine." She said with a faint smile. "What's up?"
"We need to talk."

"Oh," Kaylee said biting her bottom lip. "Not these words again…" She whispered as if she already knew what was coming.
"This past year I've been stupid. I should have listened the first time but I didn't. Even when I said I was moving on I never did. But this time I mean it. I'm sorry. I won't disturb you anymore. I hope someday you'll meet someone who will treat you right. I'm sorry. I know I said I'd try and change your mind, but even now, I don't think I'm the person that can. I hope we can still stay friends"
Ethan ran off back towards the comforting crowds not wanting to see her reaction. Kaylee stood clutching a piece of paper in her hand watching him in her blurry vision. She fell to the ground and opened back up the paper that collected her tears. The writing which was once a letter to Ethan became unreadable and tore easily.
Ethan walked back over to the school and walked into his form room where he saw Owen sitting by himself, staring out the window to the field with the sun just setting behind the trees.
"Did you see?" Ethan asked.
"Yup," Owen said without hesitation. "What would you do if I told you she was crying?"
"What would telling me that do, idiot?" Ethan said as he sat down next to Owen.
"How do you feel?" Owen asked.
"I-I don't know." Ethan reluctantly responded. "Was it the right thing to do?"
"You may never know. But maybe it was for the best. Here, stop crying. You look like an idiot."
Owen handed Ethan a box of unopened tissues. That looked as if they were just bought.
"T-thanks..."
The last sports festival that they will experience ended in ways that it shouldn't have. However, the story of the sports festival doesn't end here. For there was one person who also planned to confess on this day. A person who planned to originally and because of that caused all the others to end up as they did. Surely, that person won't suffer the same fate as everyone else, on the cursed day.
