'I'm back.' Chrome thought as he opened his eyes.

at this point, it wasn't that surprising or strange for that to happen as it was his third time, in fact it would be more surprising if he woke up normally, at least that was what he thought.

Ding. Ding. Ding! Ding. Ding. Ding!

The voice of the alarm he had put before sleeping last time sounded out, Chrome had put on that alarm at exactly 1 minute past 8 am to confirm his a.s.sumptions once more, since the mechanism could be changing for all he knew. the paper he filled with his a.s.sumptions was just a theory, nothing was certain at this point.

'At least it seems to be consistent enough.' Chrome could at least confirm that as he believed that if anything happened more than twice at the exact same time everyday, then it would be hard for it to be 'Just a coincidence', which people usually attributed bizzare happenings to.

"let's hurry up and get ready, I can't afford being late this time!" Chrome exclaimed as he encouraged himself to leave bed, since he needed to be in school soon if he wanted to join the acceptance examination, quickly going into the bathroom to wash up and change into a clean set of clothing...

After all, the reason he was qualified to join this examination was due to him being a special cla.s.s student, which was the same reason as to why he received the Awakening Pill as well.

Of course, there were other ways to do that without a school recommendation, but that would require one to achieve get a very high result for the a.s.sessing Center's a.s.sessment, and while Chrome did awaken an ability recently, its current level was quite low, at least not strong enough to reach the wanted mark, not to mention his pitifully low Exos rating…

As such, if he wanted to make use of the special treatment that entailed 'lowered requirement' to get accepted, then he had to go to school early as he the bus was likely to leave early, with no one knowing or even possibly thinking that he might have awakened his superpower ability, meaning that no one would actually bother waiting for him or even expect him to appear.

'But before that…'

'Self-Reliance!' Chrome said loudly in his mind after getting mostly ready as he attempted to enter the Self-Reliance Palace.

There were two reasons as to why he did so even while not having much time to spare, the minor one was to check if his ability didn't disappear along with the Self-Reliance Palace because he exchanged realities for the first time since he obtained it, while the major reason was to collect his 'Exos Candy' in preparation for the acceptance examination...

[ Welcome to the Self-Reliance Branch Palace once again, Palace Lord. ]

'Phew…' hearing the cold mechanical voice in his head once again, Chrome let out a sigh of relief as it seemed like everything worked just fine…

He also wondered if the one who was talking directly to his mind was actually the floating quill, or at least what controlled it, as he found the talking style similar to quill's writing style. However, since he could just ask the floating quill about it later, Chrome didn't ponder that much about it as he was currently in a hurry...

Just like the first time he entered the palace, the scenery around him changed into that of a dark s.p.a.ce full of void before he once again found himself in the familiar throne room, the only difference was that this time, Chrome found himself seated on the throne instead of being in a standing position by the side of the throne like last time...

Looking around him to find that both the floating quill and scroll were still floating in the air in the same position as if they stayed that way the whole time since he left last time, Chrome didn't care that much about it as he switched his attention to the 'Energy Storing Candy Machine'.

Finding another piece of candy inside the transparent gla.s.s bubble of the machine, Chrome turned the machine's key once, as he received the transparent capsule that came from the machine's pocket, before turning around to look at the scroll as he asked, "This energy candy can be brought outside without any problem, right?"

[ Affirmative, you can bring them outside, but it will only take effect if you are the one to consume it, otherwise, it will just act like a normal raisin flavored soft candy. That would be the case for now at least. ]

'Ah, I knew that I missed something important last time…' Chrome remembered that fact, less time, he tried to ask about anything so he wouldn't have any information that he might have missed which might become of critical value later, but even if he tried not to, he seemed to have that important detail somehow…

'I guess I would have to forget about using that as a source of money… for now at least.'

It looked like he would have to put aside the plans he had in mind for now, but from the way the floating quill wrote, it seemed like it wouldn't be impossible for these plans to be inst.i.tuted at later time, or that's what seemed to be the case with most of the functions of the palace…

"Well then, I will be leaving for now, see you later." Chrome said in a hurry.

Putting the capsule containing the candy piece in his pocket, Chrome moved back to the throne as he sat down, closed his eyes, and thought of departure…

[ See you soon, Palace Lord. ]

'I guess he is truly the floating quill, or at least it's the same persona…' Hearing the mechanical voice in his mind actually say a different line than the one he heard last one, Chrome could tell that the speaker was at least somewhat sentient like the quill appeared to be and not just some automated message put on repeat or something.

After leaving the Palace, Chrome remembered that he needed to look at the scroll to check how much energy points he had left after the candy's creation, which he was somewhat unsure of, as he didn't know how time was calculated inside the palace…

If it was calculated as the actual time he spent as Chrome while being conscious as Chrome, then that would mean he would get about 32 hours worth of energy points, and in the case it was calculated normally then he would only get about 24's worth of energy points...

'Oh, it only calculates the parallel reality's hours then…'

Confirming that it was indeed only affected by the time of this reality and not a mix of both, just like he couldn't use his ability in the normal reality, it seemed like both realities acted independently, so far at least…

With that thought in mind, Chrome took out the capsule from his pocket as he took out the candy piece and wrapped it with a piece of paper wrapping which he had bought the day before as a way to mask the candy's peculiar nature, so that it won't grab suspicion.

He could just eat the candy right now, but that would mean a waste of 2 energy points, and with Chrome not knowing much about the exact details of the examination, he couldn't even waste 1 point, not to mention 2…

Creeeeak… slam.

"Well, let's get going then…" Chrome said as he closed the door behind him, as he for once, imagined that the golden sun rays might as well be the rays of hope this time, wis.h.i.+ng that everything would go well...
